How can I prevent previously-deleted cookies and caches from automatically returning when I shift away from Block All Cookies in the Preferences-Privacy Panel in order to access a particular site? Boom...155 previously-deleted cookies and caches are back...

I have set my Safari Preferences originally to block cookies from advertisers and third parties, but it ignores that setting. Finally, I set it to block all cookies. It also ignores that setting. Is there any way to have Safari recognize it's own preference settings? By the way, I had to use Firefox to sign on here at the Apple Website today. Safari no longers seems to work with the Apple discussion site. Very odd.

stop selected cookies from being set in Safari? For instance, I would like to permanently block cookies from, say, Facebook and Google Analytics. I have tried clicking the radio button in Preferences>Privacy that supposedly blocks cookies from Third Parties and Advertisers, and like many other users I have found that it does nothing. I get just as many cookies from third parties and advertisers whether the button is clicked or not. As far as I can tell it’s a placebo.Â
Apple’s Safari help on this issue is suspiciously carefully worded. It says that if you click the radio button, “this MIGHT HELP prevent certain advertisers from storing cookies on your computer.” What?!! What’s with the “might” and “help”? Talk about weasel words! Does it work or doesn’t it? Is it so difficult for software to recognize and delete a cookie? I find it pretty hard to believe that the problem is technical and not, um, deliberate. Apple is, after all, in the information business just like all the other major players.Â
Anyway, the software that people usually recommend for zapping cookies is Safari Cookies, but that deletes them only when you quit Safari – in other words, after said cookies have reported back to their source. So what’s the point? By then they have done exactly what you are trying to stop them from doing. I want the cookies deleted when they are set – BEFORE my privacy is compromised.Â

What's up in Safari 5.1.3 Cookies. After removing all the website data, I recently chose "Block Cookies Always" After opening "Yahoo" in Safari, I looked at the "Privacy Preference Pane" again. It now reads "Block cookies Always" and says 37 websites stored cookies or other data. I looks like the choice to block cookies has little effect on Safari. Is there any way to protect yourself from unwanted cookies? By the way, in order to sign in to the Apple discussion website, cookies must be enabled.

I used to be able to use various shopping websites (Land's End, Nordstrom, etc.) without a problem. Recently I tightened the privacy and security settings on my computer and now these sites no longer work. I can access them, but when I go to choose a size or color, or put an item in my shopping cart, it doesn't work. Is this problem related to cookies, to plug-ins, to the firewall, to other browser settings? I changed a few different settings, so I'm not sure which change might be causing these and similar shopping websites not to work properly.Â
I'm using an iMac (OSX 10.8.5) running Safari 6.1.6.Â

I'll be switching from a PC to a MAc, and it just dawned on me that there are a number of cookies on my computer which I would like to take with me. I find some cookies to be very valuable. Some sites, I want to remember me; such as, banking and some shopping sites. Also forums and other places which have passwords and can remember me, or can remember where I've been on the site. Is there anyway to take those along? My procedure is to copy everything I need to my external drive and then copying from there to the Mac. I don't think I'll have much of a problem finding out where things should be put; so, I'm not using any automatic migration assistance or plugging the two computers together.

I had a trial for MobileMe for a while, and recently I stopped the trial as it was coming to its end. Once it was cancelled, I started to notice that cookies weren't saving anymore within Safari, and I've tried everything to re-enable them. It's crap because every-time I go to a site (such as these forums) I've gotta enter my login info. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I think it's still looking for the cloud bookmarks, and yes, I have gone into the system prefs and removed my mobileme info, and I've also made sure that in the Safari prefs that the option "sync bookmarks with mobileme" is also unchecked, yet my cookies aren't saving or anything. Not sure if it's related to mobile me though.

Disturbed to see the result of a macscan, 17 tracking cookies on my machine. Are these tracking cookies dangerous, what are they doing there anyway and who put them there. Finally should I be considering installing an antivirus and if so what. I always thought macs were immune to invasions, or are the time a changing.
