Mac Safari :: Automatically Delete Cookies Without Going Into Preferences
Is there some utility or routine I can have that will delete or erase all cookies every so often - within a specified time frame? For many sites one likes to keep them ON, to sites one has visited...but after days or weeks they become clutter or worse and need to be wiped clean. I do not every usually "quit" Safari, and always leave my Mac running 24/7. I would also like something like this for the Cache as well.

Safari :: Backing Up Bookmarks / Cookies And Other Preferences
I want to back-up all Bookmarks, cookies etc from Safari whilst my iMac goes away to Apple for repair.I then want, should anything happen to them whilst it is away (unlikely, as it is a failed DVD drive, but one can't be too careful!) to be able to restore them at a later date. How can I do this?

What file(s) do I need to copy to my external drive and how can I later restore all current bookmarks, settings, etc?Is it just a case of copying, deleting and later restoring the plist file?I've backed up most other important data and settings but my mind has gone inexplicably blank (don't you dare mention advanced age!) on Safari!

Safari :: Unable To Set Cookie Preferences In 5.1.5 By Going To Safari/preferences/privacy?
A few days ago my email was hacked into which sent a spam email to all my contacts.  I changed my password to that account, warned everyone in my contacts, and haven't had a problem with email since. However, I tried to do the 'delete all cookies' again and when I go to safari/preferences/privacy...there is nothing on that screen under that tab.  Not even a question mark. I changed my history items to be removed every day from every week but don't think that would be the issue.

Mac Safari :: 4.0.3. - Deleting Cookies ?
Safari 4.0.3. I am having the worst time deleting cookies! I tend to do so manually about once a month with no issues but for some reason was doing it sooner. I noticed several I was sure I'd dumped and not revisited the sites still present and in fact the entire list looked way too long.

I gave it not a thought and proceeded to do a house cleaning. I dumped 95% of the cookies, FOR SURE! I highlighted, hit the remove button and when all finished hit done. But as soon as I hit "remove" for the last bunch they ALL appeared again! I figured I hit a wrong button and did the entire thing again. Same result. I have 100% of the cookies.

I finally found that if I do this in smaller bunches and hit "done" more often they stay gone. Cool as long as I can clean out. But then as I was nearing the end of the list I made triple sure all was cool and when I hit the last remove it didn't delete what I had highlighted but everything else! All the cookies for passwords etc I wanted saved...gone!

I've been doing this since Safari came out with no problem but now....what's going on? Is there a good 3rd party cookie organizer available? I don't have another hour to waste.

Applications :: Safari Not Saving Cookies
I had a trial for MobileMe for a while, and recently I stopped the trial as it was coming to its end. Once it was cancelled, I started to notice that cookies weren't saving anymore within Safari, and I've tried everything to re-enable them. It's crap because every-time I go to a site (such as these forums) I've gotta enter my login info. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I think it's still looking for the cloud bookmarks, and yes, I have gone into the system prefs and removed my mobileme info, and I've also made sure that in the Safari prefs that the option "sync bookmarks with mobileme" is also unchecked, yet my cookies aren't saving or anything. Not sure if it's related to mobile me though.

Safari :: It Refuses To Block Cookies?
I have set my Safari Preferences originally to block cookies from advertisers and third parties, but it ignores that setting. Finally, I set it to block all cookies. It also ignores that setting. Is there any way to have Safari recognize it's own preference settings? By the way, I had to use Firefox to sign on here at the Apple Website today. Safari no longers seems to work with the Apple discussion site. Very odd.

Safari :: Software To Block Cookies?
stop selected cookies from being set in Safari? For instance, I would like to permanently block cookies from, say, Facebook and Google Analytics. I have tried clicking the radio button in Preferences>Privacy that supposedly blocks cookies from Third Parties and Advertisers, and like many other users I have found that it does nothing. I get just as many cookies from third parties and advertisers whether the button is clicked or not. As far as I can tell it’s a placebo.

Apple’s Safari help on this issue is suspiciously carefully worded. It says that if you click the radio button, “this MIGHT HELP prevent certain advertisers from storing cookies on your computer.” What?!! What’s with the “might” and “help”? Talk about weasel words! Does it work or doesn’t it? Is it so difficult for software to recognize and delete a cookie? I find it pretty hard to believe that the problem is technical and not, um, deliberate. Apple is, after all, in the information business just like all the other major players.

Anyway, the software that people usually recommend for zapping cookies is Safari Cookies, but that deletes them only when you quit Safari – in other words, after said cookies have reported back to their source. So what’s the point? By then they have done exactly what you are trying to stop them from doing. I want the cookies deleted when they are set – BEFORE my privacy is compromised.

Mac Safari :: Keep Setting Of Cookies To Never As Default?
When using OS 10.5 or higher and Safari 5.0, about a minute after I start a new session, the cookie setting in security shifts to 'only from sites I visit' although it's set to 'never' in the previous session. This does not happen on my desktop iMac which runs OS 10.4 with Safari 4. Is it possible to set the acceptance of cookies setting to NEVER as default in the OS 10.5 + Safari 5.0 environment?

Mac Safari :: How To Allow Limited Third Party Cookies
A blog I frequent recently switched commenting to [URL], which requires the browser to allow that site to install cookies (or otherwise access the cookies, I won't claim expertise here) even though I never actually visit that site. The upshot of this is that, in Safari, I must either allow all third party cookies or not comment. Firefox, which also had a helpful notice telling me that I needed to allow [URL] to use the cookies, allows one to specify specific URLs without having to allow every URL.

Mac Safari :: Persistent Cookies - Need To Remove Manually
I click 'Reset Safari' at the end of every session; I have every box checked except 'Reset Top Sites' and 'Remove all webpage preview images'. Immediately afterwards I open 'Preferences' and click on the 'Show cookies' bar, and about three times out of ten the cookies will still be there and I have to remove them manually. Has anyone else encountered this? There are many cookies that contain specific identifiable information, for example one of the ten or twelve set by Hotmail contains one's complete e-mail address (ever wondered where some of that spam came from?), and it isn't good security to visit other sites with them lingering on. One solution that occurred to me was that perhaps the preview images on my top sites (which update using Java) are a 'pipeline' for reinsertion of the cookies, but Hotmail isn't on there, and those cookies persist.

Safari :: Deleted All Cookies Now Cookie File Will Not Open?
Been having a terrible time since I decided to delete all my cookies. When I tried to log back into all my online accounts I found that despite choosing "remember me" or other similar choice, if I logged out of my computer or even if I quit Safari (or Safari quit on me which it does a lot these days) I had to log back in to the online account, as if the identity cookie did not take. Tonight I stumbled onto my Console Log which I found has line after line of the following: 2012-03-05 22:28:34.275 Safari[12743] Could not open cookie file "/Users/ryan/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist" for reading. I clicked on the cookie plist, had to input my log in password and the document that came up showed it had recorded nothing since 2/28 which was the day I deleted the cookies. Why would the cookie file suddenly not open?
