View 3 RepliesJust purchased a new iMac that came with a wireless keyboard. When I am working on accounting documents, I wish to use a numeric keyboard. The apple numeric keyboard I purchased does not seem to always work when I turn on my computer. It seems to only want to pick up the bluetooth keyboard. I have tried disconnecting the bluetooth keyboard but then it says "no keyboard found" even though I have the numeric keyboard plugged into the USB.

I am thinking about switching back from Pc to the Mac; however I have a Dell 256 SSD P800 made by Samsung and was wondering if it was possible to swap the drive in the current MBP 13" with the 256 Samsung SSD? Would I need to install drivers or would it be as easy as installing the drive in the MBP and running the Snow Leopard disk?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the last 48 hours, my mac will constantly switch to a 'new' finder window every few minutes. I'll be typing away and then bang, I am back on the finder window and my application will be in the background, so I will have to click back on the application to continue working. It's extremely frustrating and I don't have a clue how to fix the problem.

I have a late-2010 Macbook Pro 15" and have been having issues with gaming. Specifically, the games will freeze the system requiring a reboot. After reading further, I learned about the "Automatic Graphics Switching" mode under "Energy Saver" in the System Preferences screen. Upon disabling this setting, and locking the preferences, the games are still freezing.
I have not re-enabled this setting but when I check the settings again it is enabled. Seemingly, the OS is changing the "Automatic Graphics Switching" on its own.

I have had an app called Total Finder installed, they recently did an update, which caused me to have sidebar problems. I have since deleted this app, because I couldn't work without my sidebar.
After deleting the app, and re-launching finder, I now have no sidebar, no options, search box or back buttons in my finder window, and my folders open in new windows when the 'always open folders in new windows' box is unticked.
How do I get it back? Tonight my finder sidebar has disappeared and I can't work out how to get it back. When I open Finder there is no side bar showing my HD, Apps, Docs, Movies, etc. Don't know where it's gone or how to get it back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning I woke up and my iMac, which I had left sleeping, would switch on. As I discovered, for some reason the power cord had been disconnected. Once I connected it again, nothing would happen when I pressed the start button, not a noise... nothing.

My iMac is too old to upgrade to Lion, so when I switch from MobileMe to iCloud, I understand that I will no longer be able to use my desktop mail app to retrieve mail, and my calendars and contacts will no longer be in sync with my iPad and iPhone. So when I switch over to iCoud, is there any work-around for this so that I can continue to use the desktop mail app on my iMac or otherwise get mail on my desktop, and keep my mail, calendars and contacts synced between my iMac, iPad and iPhone?

The title pretty much explains it.
Every time I change from list view to column view, it changes it back after I close the window.
Is there any way I can make it stay in column view?

I recently used a theming application on my iMac called theme park and it screwed up my Mac, when I log in my finder boots up then crashes then relaunches and continues this over and over again, I tried restarting, and logging into a different account and it just won't work, when I try to open up an application it crashes as finder relaunches and a pop up appears saying the application quit unexpectedl, when I right clicked on the finder icon on my dock it says all the options like open folder, then a second later it changes to application not responding. Btw I can't access the "about my mac" pane but I do know that it is an intel based iMac with the glossy white appearance not the aluminum model and I think it's the iMac6,1 I don't have a time machine backup or restore disk

Never mind my intentions or motivation, Pro Tools HD 8 isnt qualified for 10.6.8 and was running perfect with 10.6.7 and I need to get back to it or else Im going to fall behind and start losing money on the projects Im working on... Really, what I and everyone else interested need to know is how to do it precisely, without losing any pre-installed data, just like when I updated. I just downloaded 10.6.7 combo update because I only have the 10.6.6 CD.. And Im making data backups and cloning my existing OS to a different drive using CCC, just in case. By the way, the apple article about restoring is useless, seeing how it pertains to Lion now and this involves OSX, and Im not trying to "restore" my system, implying something malfunctioned, plus I never set up time machine.
