Intel Mac :: Finder Icon Changed Appearance - Cannot Put It Back To Normal
Apr 16, 2012
My finder icon changed to a weird appearance. I didn't do anything for this. In other account its still normal, but I don't find any solution to put it back to normal.
i was searching thing on youtube and when i pressed enter safari had changed its appearance and its not full page except [URL] and i cant download anything like the site is not full and most of the pictures wont appear.
Was poking ignorantly into the features of the project library of a project I had on the timeline. Something I did made the project on the timeline to change in appearance to this:
What I had done to get the appearance of clips to change and what I should do to get the appearance back!
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), garage band, FCPX:10.0.9 version
suddenly my screen color changed to negative/black on white. but when i inverted the screen did not back to normal quality. the trace or shadows remains when i move the window. when i log out it turns again to negative form. and when i log in it seems back to normal. but it does not have the same quality and sharpness.
I created a word document all texts not any picture and saved it. Later on I came back and opened it all texts were changed to symbols. Is there any way how can I recover it to bring it back to normal.
I'm afraid I'm having a Windows user moment. Sometimes I still fail to do things the easy, intuitive way, even after roughly 4 years in OS X. I have 5 hard drives in my Mac Pro, one of them is my boot Intel SSD. I want that icon to be distinct from the others (another is a Time Machine drive). I've downloaded two files that would work for me, one was a png and the other a .ico file, but when I copy the icon from the top left corner of the 'get info' pane on the desired file, and then paste it int he correlating top left corner of the SSD 'get info' pane, it pastes the generic PNG or ICO icon, not the actual icon image I desire.
I was working on my computer and needed to reboot. When my Safari came back up the arrangement on the screen was completely different. The overall layout was different and I lost a few of my bookmarks in the process. Is there anyway to get it back to my old screen layout?
I cannot see my entire screen. When i move to the bottom i see the dock, but the options at the top disappear. i tried to change the resolution, but this doesn't help.
Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Today I tried to change the finder icon in the dock. Because I'm cheap, I dont have candybar, so I tried to use liteicon. While this changed the finder icon in messages like "do you want to empty trash," it did not change it on the dock, even after logging out and relaunching the dock.
So I went into a bunch of core services and replaced all the finder .icns and .pngs with the one I wanted to use. When I relaunched the dock, the finder was invisible, but it still had the little blue "open" dot below where it was.I downloaded the candybar trial to try to fix it, but even candybar didn't get the icon back.
I'm using 10.5.8. Where are all the places the finder icon should be to show up?
Wasn't this an option previous to 10.7.4? It doesn't work now. When clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, a new Finder window would open? I know about Finder prefs - General - Always open folders in new window but this isn't what I mean.I'd have a Finder window open then want to copy/move something so I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock to get a new window.Every time I clicked the Dock icon, I'd get a new Finder window.
Is it normal for the Finder to quit using the Cmd+ Q? I thought it needs to be force quit. But of late, sometimes, accidentally if I press Cmd+Q on a finder window, it quits, and does not relaunch either. So to speak, the Desktop disappears.
it seems like I have a serious problem with my terminal application. Nothing happens when I try to open it. Moreover, the icon has changed (see attached screenshot). Almost looks like I have deleted it...can't remember having done anything like that. Is there any way to fix it or to download the app from somewhere?
I want to change the iCal icon, I have already actually changed it (all five files) but the date that it shows will not go away. I've tried removing dozens of files and the whole iCalDockTilePlugIn folder, logged out and in, killed the dock more times than I can count and it's still there.
This is the problem I just bought a brand new 2009 iMac with 4 Gigs of RAM. I installed the iStat Pro app that shows whats running and how much things are going on. I noticed that the RAM indicator went from 4 GIGS of RAM to 940MB of RAM. I'm freaking out b/c this a brand new computer. Is there a solution to bring the RAM back to normal?
I accidentally removed the "Downloads" folder icon from my OS10 dock, and when I restored it there, it had changed to an icon of a PDF notebook. When opened, the stack shows only PDFs. What happened? How do I restore it to a regular Downloads folder in the dock?
I was playing around with the desktop icons and changed the USB external drive icon. I would like to get back the original orange USB icon. I can't seem to find it on the iMac. Where is it stored so I may copy it?
I have used CandyBar to change the icon for my iDisk. However I have run into some strangeness On the desktop, if I quit and then reconnect to the iDisk it will show the new icon for a moment and then change it back to the default purple drive with the cloud picture. yet, in the finder on the left hand side it shows the new icon. But at the top of the finder window it shows the default icon. WTF? I have tried changing it in CandyBar several times but this is always the behaviour after the changes
I really need your help with this one. I was changing all of my folder icons and for some strange reason the Downloads icon will not change and now wont even appear. Please see attached screenshot.I have done the following to try and fix this problem:
1. Used LiteIcon and Candybar but both weren't able to fix the problem.
2. I went to /system/Library/coresevices/coretypes.bundle/contents/resources and the correct downloads icon does appear. It just wont appear in the Finder Window.
3. I have rebooted, logged in and even did a system cache clear and still nothing.
4. Tried to change it manually with the Command I and copy and paste with changing permissions. Nothing worked.
I used my hotmail email address as my Apple ID. But I am in the process of getting rid of this address as it receives too much mucky spam.
I have therefore changed my Apple ID to a new hotmail email address. I did not have any problems for a wk or so, but now when I click on the Mail icon, nothing happens. It is dead. Due to the time lapse, I don't even know if the two are related.
I have read that once you use an Apple ID, you can't use the new one for certain things. This is daft. Do I have to revert to my spammy old email address? But why after a wk is Mail acting dead? I have tried to change my Apple ID to my new one for my iCloud email address, which I now want to use for everyday use, but I can't see how I do it.
This problem only relates to my MacBook Pro. I can send and receive emails on my iPhone; and I have not even tried to change anything on it.
When I get into managing my Apple ID, Apple want to send me emails, but Mail isn't working. Now really fed up. Hackers must be really good, cos I can't get into my own emails!
I installed Cleardock [makes the dock transparent] and I tried getting rid of it by going into user/library/preferences and deleting com.apple.dock.plist. However now my dock is still clear but also reflective [see pic]. So then I tried to reinstall cleardock then uninstall it but that didn't work [I did a killall Dock to reset it]. I also read on a forum how to restore my dock to the default but that just gave me back the default application icons. So how can I get my dock back to normal! And if it helps I have time machine back ups from before my dock was like this.
