View 2 Replies View RelatedI accidentally removed the "Downloads" folder icon from my OS10 dock, and when I restored it there, it had changed to an icon of a PDF notebook. When opened, the stack shows only PDFs. What happened? How do I restore it to a regular Downloads folder in the dock?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have accidentally deleted the Downloads folder from the dock in my Macbook (OSX Leopard). I have tried to drag it back from Finder but it refuses.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomehow I was trying to change my itunes size and ended up draging my download folder off of my dock. This is probably a simple fix, but can someone please tell me how to get it back on my dock.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am a Mac beginner. There are 3 folders on the right hand side of the dock. Applications, Documents and Downloads. My download folder had disappeared, so I dragged one called My downloads from my documents, and it sits there ok, but it is shown as a white folder, instead of blue like the other two folders.

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I tried to change the finder icon in the dock. Because I'm cheap, I dont have candybar, so I tried to use liteicon. While this changed the finder icon in messages like "do you want to empty trash," it did not change it on the dock, even after logging out and relaunching the dock.
So I went into a bunch of core services and replaced all the finder .icns and .pngs with the one I wanted to use. When I relaunched the dock, the finder was invisible, but it still had the little blue "open" dot below where it was.I downloaded the candybar trial to try to fix it, but even candybar didn't get the icon back.
I'm using 10.5.8. Where are all the places the finder icon should be to show up?
Wasn't this an option previous to 10.7.4? It doesn't work now. When clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, a new Finder window would open? I know about Finder prefs - General - Always open folders in new window but this isn't what I mean.I'd have a Finder window open then want to copy/move something so I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock to get a new window.Every time I clicked the Dock icon, I'd get a new Finder window.

how do I replace the "downloads" icon onto the dock after accidentally removing it from there? I can't seem to find a way to do it after clicking on everything I can find?

I'm aware I can alter it for Firefox and Safari, but how do I point the 'downloads' folder on the dock to the new location? Or is it a simple matter of drag and drop from the new location onto the dock and remove the old one??
Didnt want to experiment in case its a 'special' folder.
As far as I can see, someone on my work mac right clicked on the 'Downloads' folder and set the 'Open With' option to 'Preview'.
As such, when the icon is clicked every item in the Downloads folder opens in preview (massive pain) and there are issues with the folder working on the dock. I tried changing the 'open with' option on the Downloads folder myself but there isn't anything appropriate to change it back to. I assumed finder but that isnt an option.
I deleted it by mistake.
Unfortunately, my wastebasket was emptied.
It looks as a system folder and I don't know how to make it reappears.

I have had my MacBook Pro for 1 day and I see this glitchy icon in my dock:
Was wondering can the Finder icon be moved around in the dock? I'd like to be able to move it, instead of having it on the left hand side of the dock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI logged in to my Macbook & I found some weird colour "borders" around the finder icon on my dock. Here's how it looks like:
I thought by restarting my Macbook will get rid of it, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

No sign, look: Yet, in stacks it's one of the 5 choice views? Am I missing something very obvious, or is this not (one of) the biggest oversights 'ever', on Apple's part?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi cant figure out where the downloads are going. In Safari Preferences, it's set to have the downloads go inside Finder in a folder called "Downloads," but the only thing in there is a GIF I downloaded. I searched in the Documents folder, but the downloads are not there either.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhenever I even go near the Downloads folder, Finder crashes. This happens whether I try to access it from Users -> (username) or if I am trying to attach something to an email, in list view. It is really irritating me, because I put most of my stuff into this folder, and cannot access it!
