I have a pre-Intel iMac G5, running OS 10.5.8. I have been using an HP LaserJet P3005, connected with a USB2 cable, with no problems. The fuser got "muddy" on the 3005 so I bought a new HP LaserJet P2035n. I've loaded and reloaded the printer software from the provided CD, downloaded the driver software from the HP support website, but the computer doesn't recognize the printer. Called HP support and everything they suggested came up empty; they told me to exchange the printer for a another new one, but I get the same results with it. I'm using the same USB cable I used with the 3005 -- it worked perfectly with that printer as recently as this morning. What's wrong with my iMac or setup?

The same happens if a sender has a minor change in the Name (such as even a dot in the name) of any recipient, regardless of the fact that I have the correct name in the address book. Mail fails to recognize the recipient even though the email address is identical, and will ask me if I want to 'Add to Address Book'. One would expect Mail to use just the email address and recognize the contact as already being in the Address Book.

I have had several issues with the USB on my brand-new Core i5 macbook pro. It randomly disconnects USB devices. I've had the issue with multiple USB devices - same story with each one. Further, iTunes will only recognize my iPhone if it is in the port nearest the magsafe connector. The other port fails to recognize my iPhone entirely. Anyone else having a USB issue on their base 15" that was released today?
Furthermore, any suggestions of what to do about it? I'm having a hell of a time restoring my iPhone with this issue... And the Apple Store is over an hour away-I planned a special trip to buy this laptop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTrying to find a solution to my printing issues, which have taken many forms over the years. The current frustrating gremlin: Macbook Air, OS X 10.6.8, Lexmark E250D laser, printer driver built in to Mac OS, driver .dmg also downloaded and installed from Lexmark Wireless home network on NETGEAR router with extension to Airport Express. Lexmark E250D laser attached to USB on the Airport Express. Cannot add printer via the default pathway, the Bonjour system finds the printer correctly for about 5 seconds after the printer is plugged in to the AE USB port then it simply disappears off the window never to return. Airport Utility cannot find the AE which I recently reset and set up without problem. The AE light is green.
Via Network Preferences I find the IP of the AE and try to set up LPD printing. This successfully finds the Lexmark, calls it a Generic Postscrpipt until I select the Lexmark driver from the OS X list. It seems to correctly identify printer features such as in built memory and duplex printing. Sending a file to the printer results in the warning that the IP address is busy. In the past I simply connected by USB cable to the printer, but since a recent move the house/ office layout makes that very inconvenient. I have to go outside and downstairs to the office which has no internal access from the main part of the house.

I see that many people are having problems with trying to get OSx to realize they have installed the most recent HP Software update, but I'm specifically having a problem getting my Mac to recognized I no longer have an HP printer!
I removed the printer from my printer list, I deleted the Library file (so far as I can tell), but I am STILL being asked to update the HP Software.I just clean installed Yosemite, but recovered my file from a Mavericks Time Machine Backup.
I am running OS X 10.9.4 in a MacBook Pro, Photoshop CC, and a Canon printer MG8220. I have installed the plug in Easy-PhotoPrint Pro that is advertised at the Canon site as fully supporting that printer. When I automate the plug in from Photoshop it does not work, allegedly because it does not support the printer. It may be be that in fact this is the case but Canon people insists in the compatibility. I have come to think that it may be a matter of drivers, but I have failed to determine unambiguously which one is driving the printer. Then, where can I check the drivers and/or replace them? Although this a matter between one hardware and two softwares clearly not Apple...

I have a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.4. The printer I use is an HP Photosmart Premium. I have always been able to print wirelessly from my laptop. Today, for some unexplained reason, it is not. I have a desktop, Dell, and I am able to print from that. When I try to print from my laptop, nothing happens and there is no printer icon on the dock as there normally would be. When I open the printer preference box, it shows the printer as idle. My wireless connection is also working properly.

I'm trying to set up my old iBook G4 as a print 'server' for other Macs on my network. I'm having a problem getting the other computers on the network to SEE the shared printer from the iBook. They can see the iBook as a network computer, but can't seem to connect or even 'see' the usb printer. Have macbook running OS X 10.5.7. Bought an Epson NX100 printer from Target for $30, it says Mac compatible, but my macbook won't recognize the printer. I tried installing the new printer but there is no "Epson NX" from the drop down menu.

Recently I purchased a Canon PIXMA MG5220 wireless printer. I have installed numerous printers, software, hardware etc on other comps as well as this one and have never had a problem... until now. I connected my printer to the internet access port (my home network) and everything went fine. But when I put in the canon disk to load the software and add the printer to my comp, I click on setup, it prompts me for my user pw to allow install. I do that and when I hit ok, nothing happens...
No other window loads or anything. It's like there is nothing on it after the pw prompt. I tried it on a diff comp (windows based PC) and it worked fine... why wont it load on my iMac? Very confused. Also, I turned off my firewall thinking that would help, but it did not... any help is appreciated.
