OS X :: Setting Up Printer - Cant Get PC To Recognize
Oct 1, 2009
I have a printer set up on my mac, and my roommate wants to be able to share my printer from his PC. I find lots of information how to do the reverse of this (Sharing a printer that is plugged into a PC from a mac), ive tried everything I know how to do and cant get the PC to recognize the printer
this may be sort of a noob question but I was hoping someone could help me out. I have an HP photosmart 8050 printer hooked up to my iMac via USB. The thing is my girlfriend uses my other 2 dell laptops mainly for school while I use my iMac for school. All of these computers are on the same network and are scattered around my house.
So being in school we need to print out a lot of documentation and wanted to just have the printer setup wirelessly. I have a modem w/ the wired/wireless router, and all my computers have internal wireless cards.
I have a pre-Intel iMac G5, running OS 10.5.8. I have been using an HP LaserJet P3005, connected with a USB2 cable, with no problems. The fuser got "muddy" on the 3005 so I bought a new HP LaserJet P2035n. I've loaded and reloaded the printer software from the provided CD, downloaded the driver software from the HP support website, but the computer doesn't recognize the printer. Called HP support and everything they suggested came up empty; they told me to exchange the printer for a another new one, but I get the same results with it. I'm using the same USB cable I used with the 3005 -- it worked perfectly with that printer as recently as this morning. What's wrong with my iMac or setup?
I wonder if you can suggest something? My MBP currently doesn't recognise the printer I have (HP OfficeJet 6210, which has worked before with this computer). In fact the list of printer models under "add printer" is now empty. So it doesn't detect any printer and I can't suggest any printer for it to detect. I tried reinstalling the "printers" part of Snow Leopard but it didn't change anything. What would be the best thing to do?
My mac book pro will not recognize my hp printer after years of knowing it's connected. USB port works fine with other connections. I have reinstaled it. What do I do?
Can someone point me in the right direction to set up a network printer on my recently purchased AEBS? Love the unit so far except can't get me Epson printer to work yet.
I have a Mac Pro which I just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I have an HP Multi-Function 2840 hooked up to the router via ethernet. This printer previously worked through Leopard.
Now, my understanding is that for SL, the drivers for this printer are in the operating system and can not be downloaded from HP.
How do I set this up as a network printer? I would like to be able to print from my other computers in the house as well.
Please Note: Snow Leopard only provides drivers for the printing function of this machine. I am going to have to revert to other means to use this device to scan.
I see that many people are having problems with trying to get OSx to realize they have installed the most recent HP Software update, but I'm specifically having a problem getting my Mac to recognized I no longer have an HP printer!
I removed the printer from my printer list, I deleted the Library file (so far as I can tell), but I am STILL being asked to update the HP Software.I just clean installed Yosemite, but recovered my file from a Mavericks Time Machine Backup.
I am running OS X 10.9.4 in a MacBook Pro, Photoshop CC, and a Canon printer MG8220. I have installed the plug in Easy-PhotoPrint Pro that is advertised at the Canon site as fully supporting that printer. When I automate the plug in from Photoshop it does not work, allegedly because it does not support the printer. It may be be that in fact this is the case but Canon people insists in the compatibility. I have come to think that it may be a matter of drivers, but I have failed to determine unambiguously which one is driving the printer. Then, where can I check the drivers and/or replace them? Although this a matter between one hardware and two softwares clearly not Apple...
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.4. The printer I use is an HP Photosmart Premium. I have always been able to print wirelessly from my laptop. Today, for some unexplained reason, it is not. I have a desktop, Dell, and I am able to print from that. When I try to print from my laptop, nothing happens and there is no printer icon on the dock as there normally would be. When I open the printer preference box, it shows the printer as idle. My wireless connection is also working properly.
How do I set up an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus Wi-fi printer on my macbook air? I went to settings, then print and scan, and found my printer. Clicked on it to set it up and it's been configuring for over 20 minutes with no end in sight.
My present office printer is not supported with a Mac driver. It's one reason holding me back from purchasing a Macprobook. The salesman told me "too bad", got to change printer !
But below link appears to suggest Mac comes with in-built software for printer to read Mac. If not, is there any 3rd party software? Can someone advise or verify pse.[URL]
Mac OS X includes built-in software for many printers that allow it to recognize the printer when you connect it to your Mac, so you may not need to install printer software even if it was included with the printer. Connect the printer to your computer's USB port or FireWire port, if supported using the appropriate cable. Be sure to check the documentation that came with the printer and turn it on. If it doesn't seem to be recognized by the printer, for example, you can't print. You may need to download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and install.
Have macbook running OS X 10.5.7. Bought an Epson NX100 printer from Target for $30, it says Mac compatible, but my macbook won't recognize the printer. I tried installing the new printer but there is no "Epson NX" from the drop down menu.
Usually with new printers you can just plug it into the USB port, install new printer, and you're set.
I have an HP printer hardwired to my iMAC and have been sharing the printer, wirelessly through the home network, with an older Powerbook G4. I've added a third laptop (Mac Pro) which also shares the Wireless network, but can see the Printer online. I get a message that the Printer is not Online.
why the third laptop can't see the printer online?
We just upgraded from 10.4.11 and noticed that Printer Specific setting (like line screen, scaling, wrong reading, etc) are not getting passed to our image setter. The image setter is AGFA Avantra running on a Tiapan RIP running on an NT4 server. The PPDs are generated using the RIP's EDF software. The most up to date PPD code is Laserwriter 8.7.
My IMAC recently downloaded software from Epson for my Epson Artisan 810 printer. The result is that my printer no longer recognises non Epson printer cartridges. Do I have to buy genuine Epson cartridges or do I buy a new printer?
I just got a new MacBook Pro. I have my epson printer on my network. How do I get Image Capture to recognize that I have a printer. Nothing comes up on devices. I'm sort of stabbing in the dark at network settings and I downloaded the latest Epson driver. Nothing seems to work.
Since upgrading to Mac OS X Snow Leopard my computer does not recognize my printer (HP Color LaserJet 2600n) nor will it print. What can I do? I can't afford another printer already.
I attached my Imac to the Airport and the printer to the Airport. It's a Canon Pixma MX700. The airport utility sees the printer but when I try to print, the Imac does not see the printer. I hardwired the Imac to the Airport because I assumed the connection speed woud be better. Could this be the problem? I am able to get on-line from my laptop PC so I know the thing is working. I have not tried to print from the laptop.
We're hunting for a small printer for a crowded office space. There's a not much desk space or shelf space.
Only need something to print. No scanning, faxing or other functions! Hoping we can get Canon that is compatible with the inkjet 40 and 41 cartridges as we already have a printer that uses those.
I've an Internet key (settings requested: phone number/web address/primary DNS): I put only the first 2 because with the third one (needed to speed up the connection) it doesn't works. I put the primary DNS requested on MACUSBmodem (DNS page, on the left).
I've seen previous discussions regarding problems installing a Dell printer. I have a Dell 962 wireless printer. I did find the compatible Mac driver R92834 and I did install the driver. However, when I try to add the printer, I can't find the printer in the drop down list. Am I supposed to be looking for a Lexmark printer? If so, I have no idea what model is equivalent to the Dell 962 AIO. The model sticker is 4409-0d1. A search for this model returns nothing. I'm a newbie with Macs. OS is 10.4.3. Got any ideas?
