View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter returning from sleep mode my prefered network won't automatically connect. I checked the settings and its set to automatically connect to my network. I have to turn of the wireless and then turn it back on or select my network before it will connect.

In my house, there are several available WiFi networks, including my airport. I tried joining one of the others once when mine was down, and now my computer regularly attempts to join that one when ever it wakes up. Can I make it forget to join that network, or make mine its first preference?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook air, but this seems to apply to any mac's with airport. I connect once to our corporate wireless network, I type in the password and it connects. On occasions, when I start up the computer, it doesn't connect and a window pops up with my network listed but it says "none of your preferred networks are available". When I first connect I do check off remember this network. So why isn't it remembering it?
When I go into system preference and click on network, select airport and click on advanced, that network does appear under the preferred networks. Does anyone know why its not letting me automatically connect the next time? Sometimes its ok, sometimes it doesn't even know I connected to this network before.
All of our Macs when first started begin Airport scanning. They log in to an unsecured network from a neighbors home instead of the network we have set as preferred. We then must select manually from the list of available networks which is quite a lot in our community. Why is this and what can we do to stop this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I change the preferred order of networks on my MacBook Pro? There used to be one network at my office. Now there is a second higher speed wifi network also present which I would prefer to connect to, but the Macbook connects to the older one unless manually changed.

I have Mac Mini (mid 2011) and I didnt upgarde to recent Lion update, so am still on 10.7.2, but suddnelly everytime i restart my mini or wakes up from sleep mode, I have to re-choose my wi-fi network from a network list!!
I don't know how I can let my mini connect automatically to my wi-fi network?

Several times when I turn on my laptop the date regresses to 2003 or around there. When this happens the preferred network is no longer saved and I must re-enter the information. The printer that I got specifically to work with my laptop can no longer scan documents to my Mac and the settings were never changed, I'm really at a loss. My Mac is also running really slow.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem accessing Google from Mac OS X 10.6.5 on my iMac9,1. I can access any other websites without a problem. I can access Google without a problem when I boot Win 7. I have tried restarting my ASDL modem/router. This was all working fine until a few days ago. I haven't made any networking-related changes in last few days. Here's what's happening. In Chrome 7.0.517.44 I can make an initial search from the search/address bar. All the content will appear but the page will never finish loading. A request for generate_204 from clients1.google.com.au never completes. Then I can cannot make any other Google requests without explicitly stopping the browser. Sometimes stopping the browser doesn't work and I have to quit it and start it again, then I can make another initial request, and the cycle repeats.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new MacBook Pro (my first Apple!) that I have successfully integrated in my home network. My home network consists of Linksys WRT54G wireless Router; Iomega network hard drive (attached to router); Dlink DPR1260 wireless print server connected to Brother HL5140 printer & Epson RX680 printer; and numerous windows PCs (wireless).
My MBP recognizes the network hard drive folders. When I go to set up Time Machine, it keeps looking for a device hooked into it, but does not search for or see other potential back up locations. How do I set up Time Machine to regular back things up to a folder on my network storage drive?

I have a imac (intel) running snow lepord - i was using the maching when it froze up with the dreaded spinning wheel. I left the computer sit for 45 min with no change then powered down using the power button. I let sit for a few min. then restarted using the power button. A screen showed up with a folder with question mark flashing. I looked in support and saw that I should try a few different things and then got to the section...if this doesn't work put the DVD startup in the computer and hold C while starting. I did this, went into disk utility (as the directions stated) and once there my harddrive is nowhere to be found.I am guessing my HD is out but not really sure. This Imac is less than 1.5 years old and has already had one HD go out.

Late last night I accidentally ejected Time Machine from the Devices section of the Finder window. I've now spent half a day trying to get the computer to recognise my external hard drive again as attempting to use Time Machine results in the message "Storage Machine for Time Machine backup can't be found." I can find my WD desktop 1TB drive with Disk Utility but not in Finder. If I click on the WD Ext HDD 1021 Media in Disk Utility there is the option to Verify in the top menu, but nothing happens when I click on it. All the options verify, and repair are greyed out. I've checked the computer hard drive and done the verify and repair disk and permissions process.
I've turned off the computer, disconnected the external hard drive, turned off time machine, then turned everything back on but still can't get the external hard drive to be recognized. This is extremely frustrating and I have run out of ideas. I know it all started when I clicked on the eject button for the external hard drive in the devices section of the finder. Such a simple mistake, but I have searched everywhere online and can't find a resolution that I can actually try. I can't verify and repair the WD hard drive if these options aren't available in Disk Utility.

Just today I have installed an application which was to do with sound switching , called "soundflower" once iv installed and run it there was an option "create multiple sound switch" did chose and start to creating a multiple, as soon as it started my sound card panel display as "no sound card founded" and my sound icon on the top bar turned to light gray.
Double click on that and when it opens you will see your hard drive (usually Macintosh HD) on the left. Highlight your hard drive and click on Verify Disk on the far right. If that is OK click on Repair Permissions on the left. If Verify Disk is not OK try to Repair. If Repair is successful then Repair Permissions if it is not successful let me know. But problem still remains.

I work for a University and the school bought me an iMac in January. Before giving it to me they had a username and password put on it so that only I could access it. I took it home for the summer and realized that the login info would only work on the school's network. To get around this I erased the account by holding down "command +S" during startup. It solved the problem and I was able to login and use the computer however now it says iTunes cannot be located and therefore cannot be used and when I use Safari it will not save any of the settings changes like changed startup pages etc. I reinstalled Lion by pressing "command + R" during startup but still encounter the same problem. how to completely erase everything and go back to factory settings?
