Intel Mac :: Computer Keeps Needing To Restart / Won't Allow To Submit Error Report To Apple

Mar 19, 2012

My IMAC keeps prompting me to restart after the screen turns grey. Essentially, after a few hours of use, the screen turns dark grey, filling in from the top to the bottom slowly. Once the screen has the dark grey hue, directions pop up in the middle of the screen for me to restart the computer. Once I restart it, the computer automatically generates an error box to report to apple. However, when I click the box to submit to apple, even if when the computer is connected and running well, it will not allow me to report it.

Intel Mac :: Planning To Get A Warranty

Jul 1, 2012

About two months ago the WiFi network I had set up was hacked by 14 people. I spent about an hour cleaning out the router, changing passwords, SSID's and encrypting the network moreso than it was prior. After that I downloaded a free trial of 'Virus Barrier' as I have zero trust of McAfee (the only other option I could find). After the trial ran out I deleted the icons as I'm not very familiar with Mac's and could not figure out if that would completely remove the software or not (I don't believe it did).I use GoogleChrome as our browser, while running Netflix or just turning it on (doing anything really) we get asked to approve for 'KsFetch' or 'Kfetch' to open a port. I did a little reading on this and did/have not found anything saying it is/was a threat, so I allow(ed) it. Due to the fact that our browser runs increasingly slow regardless of the fact that I consistantly delete cookies and history, I'm interested in having a technician who's more familiar with Mac's than myself; run diagnostics on the computer and basically just run a little 'check-up' and make sure it's okay.I think the slowness of the internet and the unresponsive browser may be due in part to our router which I don't believe is fully equipt to handle the amount of bandwidth that we use. But just to be on the safe side considering this was a very expensive computer, I want it looked into.So my question is (after all of that mess), if we get a warranty, would it cover general diagnostics? And Which warranty would be best (assuming there are variable kinds)?

If anybody with vast knowledge of Mac's and their upkeep reads this, would you happen to know if there may be something wrong with the computer?Earlier this morning it smelled a bit like burning plastic, it is generally used all day than off all night, after about ten minutes the smell went away (this was before I turned it on.).

MacBook Pro :: Anyway Can Contact Apple's Customer Service To Express Dissatisfaction?

Jun 10, 2010

I have a 15" MBP that was bought in 2007. Since then, the SuperDrive, the display, 3 batteries, and both fans were replaced. My apple care ends today and when I tried to power it on today in the morning, nothing happened. I took it to the store and they said the logic board needs to be replaced. I will be without a machine for 5 days.

Is there anyway I can contact apple's customer service to express my dissatisfaction? The apple care ran out and seeing how this machine has been in for service so many times, I am afraid it won't last long before I need to repair it- out of my pocket.I was thinking of contacting the support number but I presume they don't deal with customer feedback.

OS X Mavericks :: Sync Up Apple Contact Book And Exchange Contacts?

Jun 25, 2014

I have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar.  I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server).  However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account.  I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.

Intel Mac :: Why Does It Report A Duplicate IP Address

Mar 10, 2012

A few days ago, my wife told me that she was having some serious performance problems on her iMac, and showed me.  While she was doing this, a window popped up announcing that there was a duplicate IP address for the 192.168.1.20 that we'd set her iMac to.  I did a bit of digging, checking all our machines for that address, and trying to contact it to see if it would identify itself.  Everything failed.  None of our machines (that we know of) is using 192.168.1.20, and attempts to contact it via tools like ping, telnet, ssh, and various brousers all report "not responding".

I changed her address to 192.168.1.21, and the problem went away.  But I'm still worried about the claim that 192.168.1.20 is in use.  This seems to say that there's an unknown machines using it in our house.

So is there some way that her iMac or either of our Macbooks (or here iPad) can identify it, or at least contact it and give us some clues about what sort of beastie it might be?

We also have some linux systems, a Windows box, and a couple of smartphones with wifi, and tests from them have also failed, so I'll probably be asking on their lists, too.

My first suspect was the airport, but I verified that its DHCP server is giving out addresses in the .101 to .199 range that I set it to.  Its config stuff doesn't show the .20 address anywhere that I can find.

(I did try setting one of the linux systems to use 192.168.1.20, and it didn't report any address conflicts.  I don't know what this tells me.  So I set it back to its original 192.168.1.42 address.  ;-)

Intel Mac :: Panic Report, Error Code: 0x00000000

I have kernel panics while booting up as well as after completing the booting process. This has happend the second time now after updating to OS X 10.6.8. This is a report of the last one:

Intel Mac :: "Submission Failed: Your Report Could Not Be Submitted

May 19, 2012

I got a 24" iMac, Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM My main problem is that whenever I restart my iMac, two problem reports emerge, neither of which can be sent to Apple due to an additional message which reads "Submission Failed: Your report could not be submitted. Please try again." Anyway, the report reads as follows:

Process:         LoaderAgent [86]
Path:            /Library/Application Support/AVG/AgentTools/LoaderAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/LoaderAgent
Identifier:      LoaderAgent
Version:         ??? (???)
Code Type:       X86-64 (Native)

[code].....

Now, normally I probably wouldn't have such a problem with this, however, some times when I put my iMac to sleep, I get a grey screen with a folder containing a question mark and a "non" sign over it. I have no idea what this means but I usually cannot turn my iMac back on for a half hour before it works again.

OS X :: Apple's Mac 10.6 Code Named "Snow Leopard" - Report

Jun 4, 2008

Apple is indeed well into the development of Mac OS X 10.6, which the company has internally code-named "Snow Leopard," according to ArsTechnica. Citing a person familiar with the situation, the technology website confirms several details of the next major Mac OS X upgrade first reported on Tuesday, including a scheduled release as soon as Macworld 2009 this coming January, and that it will not introduce any major new features.

Instead, Snow Leopard is said to focus heavily on performance optimization and security, a move that will in all likelihood widen the gap between Mac OS X and Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system in those areas. "Things like the MacBook Air, iPhone, iPod touch, and other mysterious devices that have yet to be announced need better performance for better battery life, and that's definitely something Apple wants to excel at in the years to come," wrote Ars' Jacqui Cheng. Unconfirmed is whether the software will be shown off or discussed at the company's annual developers conference next week. However, AppleInsider in recent weeks has been told to expect discussion of "another big cat" at the event................

Intel Mac :: Shut-downs And Restarts And Then A Long Report Appears?

Apr 15, 2012

I have a mid-2011 IMac running Lion 10.7.3. From the time I got it, last Sept., it has said it has a problem and has to shut-down and restart. Then a long report appears with all the codes and apps. listed to be sent to Apple. This was first happening ever 3-4 wee, then every 2-3 weeks, and lately I had 2 in one day. I always add in the comments section that I would like to know what is going on, but never get any feedback,  can't read the code well enough, but CPU 2 seems to show up. aI talked to Applecare last week and got a problem munber. The rep. says those reports are used by tech services to see what changes to make, and not tied to individual machines. I am concerned that I may have a lemon that will give out after my Applecare expires. I'm not anxious for a replacement or having the screen pulled to get inside to repair it. I've got it set up too well to risk it.
