i have a week 5 model i7 iMac while the screen is not perfect it is a lot better then week 45 and week 2 that i had. now that the whole screen issue is behind us, has anyone been able to contact apple and using applecare have a new (NO ISSUE) screen put in their iMac ?
View 12 RepliesI'm bad at Photoshop. I really wish for the 3 user customizable keys, personally I would use the top two buttons for previous/next Space, and the bottom key to switch to my iTunes. And the trackpad to the right could be used for customizable multitouch gestures, so you can move around spaces easily, scroll with 2 fingers if you have a desktop and not a laptop, etc. I think it's very important that Apple includes multitouch for desktop users and not just laptop people.

I have a 15" MBP that was bought in 2007. Since then, the SuperDrive, the display, 3 batteries, and both fans were replaced. My apple care ends today and when I tried to power it on today in the morning, nothing happened. I took it to the store and they said the logic board needs to be replaced. I will be without a machine for 5 days.
Is there anyway I can contact apple's customer service to express my dissatisfaction? The apple care ran out and seeing how this machine has been in for service so many times, I am afraid it won't last long before I need to repair it- out of my pocket.I was thinking of contacting the support number but I presume they don't deal with customer feedback.
I work for a Dorset school and have a whole suite of iMacs and a number of iPads. I would like to further stimulate my pupils with a few Apple posters etc. Does anyone know if there is a contract email or address for those in the company who might help with this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar. I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server). However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account. I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.

At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. I have a fifteen inch 800 MHZ 768 MB ram iMac G4 and for some reason it won't boot up. The apple screen shows up, goes away and then the screen is apple-blue with the cursor you can move around. I left it on overnight and it didn't get past the apple-blue screen. What do I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one of the old blue PowerMac G3 computers, and I kept getting a kernel panic, so I reset the RAM and now when I start up the computer, it stops at the apple screen without even spinning. I've tried booting it in single user mode, and for some reason it doesn't make a difference what keys I hit while turning on the computer. It still boots to the apple screen.

Hoping someone can help - my imac (approx 15-18 months old , intel) won't start.
Last night on shutting down DPP (canon Digital image software) was hanging and system asked me if I wanted to force quit it...sadly I had switched off my bluetooth mouse and , as usually once mouse turned off switching it back on it never re connects - why did I buy the bletooth mouse and keyboard ?, so I could not confirm yes force quit - is there no way of selecting with keyboard like there is in windows ?
So I switched off at power switch. Tried to re switch on - grey screen came up, apple logo, the little timer circle but after a while timer circle stopped and nothing further happened.
have tried several more times and now don't even get timer.
At work, we have a 17" G5 iMac from back before the iSight was put in. We're an Apple shop, so we have the new iMac actually on the floor for people to try out. The old G5 this thread is addressing is up on a shelf, but we want to turn it on as a display model. We plug a temporary mouse and keyboard into it, but the machine never gets past the white Apple screen with the "I'm thinking" animation. After a minute or two, the fan turns on full blast, but the white screen remains without any signs of moving on. What is our problem?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had been using my iMac all night, when all of a sudden the bouncing beach ball appeared and everything became unresponsive, apart from the mouse cursor itself. It might be worth noting that a few hours prior to this, I plugged in an external hard drive to burn off a DVD. This external hard drive has two partitions, the first being a restored image of Leopard; and the second, my out of date backup ("yes, I know").
I subsequently restarted my machine, enjoyed the chime, pondered the excessively long start up and looked bemused at the Leopard Setup wizard. I realised that the restored Leopard partition had booted up instead of the internal disc. So, I unplugged the external drive, pressed reset on the iMac and was immediately greeted first by the reassuring chime, then by the Apple logo and a lingering grey screen and finally by a flashing dark folder icon with a question mark in the centre for eternity.
I tried rebooting a few more times. Same. I've been frantically Googling but only found the PRAM reset and a very frightening iMac disassembly guide. I've tried plugging the external drive back it, but it refuses to boot Leopard from that now. What can I do? I feel so helpless on a Mac, on a PC I'd at least be able to open the sucker up before panicking! I've been working on a client's flash web dev project for months, and not made a back up in about half that time. The website is supposed to be going live tomorrow! Luckily I have the site uploaded, but the entire source code is potentially lost, so in the long term this is a major catastrophe!
I've got this little problem with my 2months old iMac i5 since this morning. Yesterday everything was fine, I Watched a movie and updated some software, nothing illigal or damaging. Today I tried to boot my iMac, It showed the apple loading screen, with some kind of loading bar under it. I thought he just had to do that because of the update, so I decided to make breakfast and come back to check on it. When I came back, the bar was gone, but he was still loading! (15 minutes later). So I decided to reboot. still the same problem. I decided to boot from cd to see if this works, to select the startup drive. First I tried to fix the hard drive, but it is unable to fix it. I don't care to format my mac, but would like to know if there are other options to try first.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCame home from work the other day and my iMac (20" iMac from '07 / Snow Leopard) was frozen, did a hard restart and it booted up fine without much of a problem. Everything was running very sluggish so I began to verify the disc through utilities at which point it froze again, now whenever I restart I get stuck at a white screen with apple logo and something spinning underneath it. The longest I've let it sit at that screen is about an hour or so, it gets extremely hot though so I'm hesitant to leave it any longer.
I've tried a few suggestions already, safe mode with no luck, disc target onto my macbook with no luck and I've tried "/sbin/fsck/ -fy" at the command prompt which returns something along the lines of Harddrive can not be repaired. The most important thing to me right now is being able to access some of the files on there if it is not a total loss. I've back up about 2 months ago, so it wont be a total loss, but like I said, would prefer to salvage anything I can.

My 3-month old iMac was responding very slowly when I used the latest version of Safari. So I forced quit the program. From then on, whenever I turned on the iMac, it would get stuck at the Apple logo start up screen. I had to unplug the power since the machine is getting very hot after 15 mins.

Got my 24" 2.4GHz iMac on release last year, with Tiger. Installed Leopard on it on release day.
The problem I have is that ever since a botched Boot Camp installation I've had endless problems with certain applications hanging during their startup (notably Image Capture) or refusing to quit (notably iTunes). Force Quit doesn't resolve these issues. Restarting doesn't work because Force Quit can't quit them so I have to pull the plug or otherwise force a shutdown.
Upon restarting I either get the grey screen that instantly appears, or, if I've pulled the plug and left it for a few minutes I can get to the Apple symbol but no spinner or any further start up action. Occasionally I get lucky, get back up and running, and all is well until the next crash.
All this started happening when I decided to try installing Windows on Boot Camp again. I've had it on here a couple of times since Leopard was released but usually end up deleting it eventually because either the Windows installation gets bogged down or I get bored with it and never use it. Anyway, this time, using the same discs I've always used (and yes, it's SP2, so it should be fine and anyway it's worked at least twice before) when I got to the 'restart to continue installing Windows' bit, I got the white screen and nothing happened. After an hour or so of praying and restarting endlessly trying to get a response, I finally got it to recognise my OSX installation and was up and running again. The Boot Camp volume didn't appear to be there and Disk Utility revealed zero problems whatsoever. Everything looked fine until these recurring hangs, refusals to quit apps and screwed up start-ups.
Any ideas? I don't have the expensive Apple support, but it's less than a year old! Of course, I realise that this means nothing to Apple, who seem to think I should pay a premium in order to have my machine warrantied by them for more than 90 days. Grr...
If I get it up and running I'm thinking I should just wipe the ENTIRE system absolutely clean and re-install Leopard and then use my Time Machine backup to put all my data back on (pricelessly valuable as I use the machine to work on my photography with), but I'm concerned that if there's a flaw in the System somewhere, a corruption, that installing the Time Machine backup will just reintroduce the error. On the other hand, if it's a deeply embedded and invisinle partition corruption from the bad Boot Camp installation attempt, that should be fixed by wiping the entire drive to reinstall Leopard, right?
New iMac is stuck on grey apple screen after startup. It is a 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5 running OS 10.9.4. The problem occurred after a migration from my older 2009 iMac which is running Snow Leopard 10.6.6. When the restart occurred from Migration Assistant, the new computer will not boot up to the login screen. Disk utility did not solve problem.

IT does this every time, but when I do command and r or other such keyboard commands, it goes I the recovery pahe with no problem. Whenever I tried erasing the iMac to reset it, it said the disk was locked.
