May 30, 2012For the past week I haven't been able to access Facebook. All other sites are fine. I tried Firefox, clearing cookies etc and called the cable company.

Intel Mac :: Can't Access Facebook Through Safari?
Jun 3, 2012I have done everything I can think of, cleared all cookies, cache and reset safari. I also tried other browsers (chrome and firefox) still no go.I get to the sign in page but then Safari (or other brousers) can't open the page.Now it says I tried to may times and have to verify who I am. Try to go to verification page and get the message "can't open page" Just in case I downloaded Sophos to check for any virus or trojan...nothing there.I can access any other web pages, just not facebook.This is driving me crazy. I am not that computer literate to know what else to do.

Mar 20, 2012I have had my Macbook Pro since July 2011 and everything was going fine. Suddenly two days ago I started getting an error message when trying to access Facebook. [URL] can't be found". I did what it said on tghe "help" button....cleared caches, cleared cookies, erased history, checked my rpoxy settings (no clue what a proxy is, but when I changed it to "automatocally detect proxy settings" I could access facebook again.). For a few hours. It's lost to me again.Â
I had touched NOTHING in my settings before the problem occurred. I had never even clicked on settings before. My router is fine since my iPad, iPhone and my husband's Dell laptop have no trouble finding FB on the same wireless connection. By the same token, the macbook pro finds any other website just fine. What's up?Â

IMac (Intel) :: Unable To Access A Certain Link By One Account
Jun 5, 2014I use safari on my imac. I was able to access a shared link (to access a briefcase) via a university website. It requires me to enter ID and password to access the briefcase. It also requires me to enter my ID and password whenever I click a new file in the briefcase. The shared link was okay until I let Safari remember my password. Now when I click the shared link, it says "Error 404! No such item". I am not able to access that shared link. Â
I tried to log on my imac with another user/account, and found out that the shared link is still working. I also tried to use my macbook and the link is working as well. So i guess that it must be something wrong when I let Safari remember my password the first time when I accessed that link. I have done Safari Reset and cleared all history, cookies, passwords, etc... but I am still not able to access that link under my own account. Â

IMac Intel :: Unable To Turn On System / Changed Access Settings Of Some Files
Apr 3, 2009My girlfriend changed the user's name and the problems started (iMac wouldn't remeber system settings and denied access to some files and catalogs). When I wanted to fix the problem I probably made a mistake and changed the access settings of some files (finally even hard disk's settings). After this action my iMac doesn't start (the screen is white with the apple logo and nothing happens). Is there anybody who knows what to do now?

Mar 27, 2009I have suddenly problems with using gmail, facebook, adc, etc. Everything was ok until yesterday afternoon. Since then I am unable to open i.e. gmail messages, facebook (anything but the home page), log in into the adc, etc ... It looks like pages where complex Javascript is used cause the problems. I am using a macbook pro with the latest software updates installed. I have tried on Safari 4, FF 3, Opera 9. I checked on my other two iMacs I have in-house ... same problem, although they are running Safari 3. The curious thing is that the only PC we have in-house works without problem on all those web sites. I have also switched off all devices on the network to see if there is no influence and i can't find no anormal traffic on the local network either. I thought about some kind of virus and erased my hard disk and re-installed from the original DVD.

Jun 2, 2012I'm able to watch videos on youtube and other webpages, just not anything on facebook. Not even ones that i have submitted myself. I've already wiped out my whole harddrive and reinstalled it, repaired any disk utilities, disk permissions, made sure i've got the newest version of adobe, and made sure that all of my software is updated. I just don't know what else it could be. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard. Also, whenever i click on the video to play, it just appears as a small black box.Ps: I'm using Safari and would like to continue to use it.

Oct 14, 2009I am unable to access the "802.1X" tab in "Network Preferences". When I click on it, the tab turns grey, but no menu pops up. I tried doing a Safe Boot and changing settings there, but when I tried to save settings, the "Network Preferences" shuts down abruptly.
I did not have this problem until I tried to connect to a University Network, which has WPA2 Enterprise security and the need to create a new user profile in this "802.1X" tab to access the internet (ridiculous, isn't it?).

Aug 7, 2009I wasn't sure what forum to put this in. I apologize if this is the wrong one. Anyhow, I was able to connect to my PC the other day to get some mp3s transferred to my macbook. I did this over the wireless network in my home. I know want to move a few more files but my PC is not showing up as being shared on my mac. And my macbook isn't showing up in the network on my PC. Both computers are connected to the internet now and working. But I just can't access them from each other. I just got my first Mac a few days ago so I am very uneducated on this stuff right now. Do you guys have any idea how I could fix this?

Aug 9, 2009I am new to Mac and have been struggling with this issue for the last week or so: there are a few websites I cannot access anymore (such as www.westpac.com.au, www.telstra.com.au, www.optus.com.au and a few others). As far as I can guess it is not:strictly *.au website related (or at least I think) because I can access some others *.au websites and some other in *.com or *.fr don't work either. My ISP (iinet in Australia) as the websites mentioned above work from my PC when I connect it from home. Below the result from a PING on the first 2 websites in the list above:

I have this issue from both my iMac and my Macbook Air, on which I have set up no firewall or other specific filter. I am using a Belkin modem, on which I have desactivated the WiFi to use a TimeCapsule as a WiFi router. I get the same issue when I try to connect from Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I have exhausted all tips and tricks I have from the PC word.

Feb 16, 2010Basically, I'm trying to get all of the files off a hfs partition on an external harddrive so that I can reformat the drive. The problem is that my Windows machine is the only one with enough space to do this, and, of course, Windows cannot see the hfs partition, and I can't remove it. So I've been trying to copy the files from my Macbook Pro across the network. Unfortunately, this is the part that has proven difficult. My Windows machine does not show up in the list of shares in Finder, so I need to use Go > Connect to Server. While this works initially after first booting up.
It seems to disconnect after a few minutes and all attempts to reconnect just display a connecting box for a short while, and then an error message; "Connection Failed. There was an error connecting to the server. Check the server name or IP address and try again." I can ping my Windows machine, so there is nothing wrong with the IP, or the connection on a basic level, but for some reason I cannot connect. I've tried disabling Firewalls on both machines, and that hasn't helped. One thing I did notice is that the connection seems to remain stable as long as I do not access the network on my Windows machine. For instance, earlier this evening it disconnected as soon as I tried to use the internet.

Mar 25, 2010Basically, I have a USB drive (Seagate Free Agent) and a Seagate 200 gig HDD. Originally, these were formatted as OSX extended volumes. When I decided to donate them to another PC, I used MacDrive to access them.
I have since formatted them both as NTFS. After electing to reinstall Windows 7, I found to my surprise that neither drive could be read at all. It wasn't until I installed MacDrive 8 that I was able to read them once again.
Why would drives that have been formatted in a native Windows volume still require MacDrive to just to be able to access them?
OS X :: Unable To Access Boot Menu With USB HDD
Jun 29, 2010how to create a bootable backup of my Macintosh HD on a LaCie 500GB USB external HDD which is 2-3 years old. I formatted the drive with a GUID partition table scheme, with the volume formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), which I believe is the correct setup.
However, when I try to boot from the external HDD by holding down Option key during startup, I do not get the boot menu, instead the computer freezes at a blank grey screen and doesn't boot anything. If I remove the USB drive and do the same, the boot menu appears with Macintosh HD as the only choice (as would be expected).
