I hate in Lion how when I restart my computer, all of the applications I had open before reopen. Can I turn that off? It takes start up forever. I've seen how to uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" and I've uncheck that, but it doesn't work for this case. I just want to start up like normal and I pick the apps I want to open at the time

Just upgraded to a macbook pro and every time i turn on the laptop about four or five programs open. how do i stop this from happening? I have looked in the system preferences and have not been able to find anything?

I recently had to reformat my iMac because it was restarting constantly and it kept freezing too. After a reformat, I installed a few programs. Skype, Microsoft Office 2010, VLC, Plex Home Theatre, Plex Media Server, an uTorrent.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro 15" (2010 i think) ran out of battery, switched off really abruptly. Now when I go to charge it, the light at the front flashes on but then turns straight off before repeating. It tries to boot, I can hear the disk begin to whirr but then it turns off abruptly and it keeps trying. I don't understand why it won't boot and why it cuts out during the boot-up! It literally stops booting after 1 second. I think it might be my harddisk being full? It only has 900mb free?

I was trying to download the free version of a game, and immediately after i clicked download, i started to see the computer slow down a bit. However, I just thought that it was a lag and it would fix itself when the game completely dowloaded. Afterwards, it said that there were a few errors that occured during the download, and asked me if I wanted to continue to play. I clicked yes, because I didn't think it would be much of a problem. Afterwards, the mouse was stuck on the middle of the screen, and no matter how much I wanted to click out of the window, quit Safari, or even restart my computer, the mouse would continue to go back to the one spot. I have absolutely no idea what to do to restart the computer, or quit Safari. All I have done is just sleep the computer, but that hasn't helped it at all.

I run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.

But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. The computer seemed pretty warm yesterday when this happened.Â

My computer crashed last night. When I started it back up, the permissions on one of my internal drives in my Mac Pro that I store data on had changed. My macbook pro has been acting weird for a week or so. I'll be on the internet and then it will randomly shut down safari or google chrome and send an error report message. View 8 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open an AVI in Quicktime it crashes. If I try to open an AVI through iPhoto it tries to open Quicktime and then Quicktime crashes but iPhoto doesn't. When I try to import these AVI's into iMovie it crashes again, this time taking iMovie down with it.
I have the following codec installed in Quicktime:
AC3
Xvid
DivX 6 (latest for Intel)
3ivx
Now here is the really weird part. I used to have a PPC Powerbook up until last week and the AVI files I am now trying to play in Quicktime worked fine even without any plugins so this is really weaird. Even still, if I came across a file that Quicktime couldn't play it never bombed out on me, it just produced a green or black screen with just some sound. The AVI plays fine in VLC but I need to edit them in iMovie.
I've Been Trying to use an application called crossover but every time I Open It It Just bounces for ages and does nothing!
