This has been happening consistently when I try to burn DVD's, during this time the drive stalls and I am not able to eject. (Possibly because software is trying to write with faulty hardware maybe?) The error message changes if I try to burn DL DVD 's. Also CD's often fail while burning some do complete. Errors also occur with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere CS5 and DVD Studio Pro. Â

I tried variety of CD-R's (Verbatim, Memolex, Maxell, Office Deipot brand, etc) . Sometimes Memolex works with very low speed (2X), but most of times fails with other brands.
What I saw is that iTunes prepared songs successfully but after start burning progress bar didn't move at all (for tens of minutes) and looked waiting for response from CD-R devices.Â
I tried with 2 machines below.
1. Mac mini (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 1GB memory) with PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06RS: (replaced from factory part), OS 10.5.8
2. Macbook (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz, 2GB memory) with HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS21N (LG?) (Apple shipping device), OS10.5.8Â

The MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846 can't mount disks, both CD and DVD, about 90 percent of the time. I've tried resetting the PRAM, but I don't know if it's related to this.
I have an external Superdrive that isn't burning. It will spin it's wheels for hours on end and make me a new coaster. I returned it to the place of purchase, a business I have dealt with on good terms for years. They tested it, gave me a call and said it was burning files just fine on their computer.
But it isn't on mine. The computer recognizes that the drive is there and that it is capable of burning DVD and CD.
all of a sudden a little while ago (after some apple update, don't remember which tbo) i cannot burn any media, well, 98% of the time.. It starts up and then instnaly goes to finishing burn, and spits it out with a "fail burn because of a medium write error". This happens with 2 brans of media i have, both of which worked flawlessly before, and popcorn, toast as well as trying disc utility. i need to burn dvds for work and so on, but can no longer.

Whenever I click on the Apple logo and Software Update, the progress bar gets to about 20% in 3 or 4 seconds and then never moves again. I've left it for over an hour, no change. If I go to Boot Camp Assistant and try to Download the latest Windows support software from Apple, it gets to about 5% in 3 or 4 seconds and then never moves again. I can download from the web and other internet based services work. I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a 2011 iMac. I've tried creating a new user. I've also tried starting in Safe Mode. I have reinstalled Lion. No change.Â

Since I upgraded my Intel IMac to a 2tb drive I've been getting the software update telling me there are two updates to load (involving a restart) the download works and the instalation appears to be normal until the restart when the system tells me the install failed. Does anyone know a quick way how to copy pre-recorded/purchased DVD's to my iMac's hard drive, so I can watch via my Apple TV? In the past I've inserted the DVD and it's appeared on the desktop, I then choose to copy it, and managed to paste it into iTunes, but it takes at least an hour to copy to the hard drive. Any ideas? My headphone jack fails intermittently. I have speakers hooked up to it and sometimes sound will not play through the speakers. Even if I disconnect the speakers and plug in headphone sound does still not play through the headphones. I have even tried restarting and that does not work. In my system preferences (In Sound Panel) it shows that something is connected to the headphone jack. I have already had the entire logic board replaced once (under warranty) and that seemed to fix the problem for a couple months. If I wait about a day or less magically the speakers start working again. This has happend twice. Has anyone else had this problem? I have about 2 weeks left on my warranty. It almost seems like it is a software problem now, but I am not sure.

I have done the disk utility check and my hard drive is ok. I then tried restoring from network which stops half way and reboot. I have also tried restoring from Time Machine but it has also stopped and rebooted several times.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with the computer, among which is that the superdrive will not accept any disks... it clicks a couple of times, then spits the disk out. This has been an intermittent problem for about 5 months, but now it seems to be constant. Disk Utility and Disk Warrior (hard drive based) say that I have problems that can only be fixed by restarting with a system disk or DW disk inserted.
I did do the System Management Controller reset but it didn't work. I'll take the computer to an apple store if need be, but is there any way to force a disk to be accepted and read? Also, since I bought Lion via the app store, and have no system disk. Is there a way to fix my hard drive without a physical system or repair disk? I do have the physical disk for Leopard if that would work on Lion. I can't get a CD or DVD to stay in the drive and be read.

I am trying to burn movies from iPhoto to a dvd for backup. I have attempted to do the export to another file method, then burn to DVD, but whenever I try the export, I get a list of 20 video files that were not exported. This is the only method I have been able to find that is supposed to work for getting movies out of iphoto and onto a disc.Â

I have an iMac now powered by OS X Lion. But the problem is that when I try to insert a disk the superdrive accepts it but it doesn't show in the desktop. the external SuperDrive on my iMAC does not read some of my music CDs. While the majority runs without any problems, quite a few cannot be read, although they work without any problems on my HiFi and on other CD Drives. All Software is up to date and the Drive is just a few months old.
