How do I open the same program in two separate windows?

I used to be able to scroll the pointer down to the lower right hand side of the screen to display the multiple Internet Explorer windows that i had open. Now, for some reason it wont work and the only way to do so is to minimize each screen till i find the right one. I am not sure what, if anything, i have done to change this setting.

We had a mac which was on Leopard and saved files to the serverÂ
The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files. That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issuesÂ
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing. E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.Â
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number. we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion

I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I am trying to open up my bootcamp partition (running windows 7) in VMWare and I get this error message: Cannot open the disk '/Users/brandonquirarte/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp/%2Fdev%2Fdisk0/Boot Camp partition.vmwarevm/Boot Camp partition.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. It was working just fine before the upgrade to Snow Leopard but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I had to reinstall Windows 7 after I tried installing the Bootcamp 3.0 drivers so that may be more of the issue. I didn't test to see if would work still when I upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Had my iMac for two years with no issues. Didn't change any settings, nothing.Tried to open mail. It bounced like it was going to open, then nothing. I've tried several searches for info with one involving opening in safe mode, but I'm not sure if I did it right and, needless to say, it didn't work.

Is there a way to get my open application windows to "snap" into place like Windows 7? This is the only feature I miss from my PC...

Shut down computer last night because after restarting it would not open.  A little gear-looking circle just spins round and round. Started up computer this morning and it's the same situation . .gear circle just spins around.   I know the battery is fully charged. Â
I'm using a different computer to write this. Â
I've had my macbook pro for about 2 months, after 4 years on a pc (and 4 years on an imac before that). I love my MBP, but one major gripe I do have is that when I have a lot of windows, especially when I have a lot of word documents open, they can be hidden behind the current window I have open, but not show up on the dock (only show up on dock if they are minimized). On windows, this wasn't a problem. So, is it possible to make it easier to switch between windows that aren't minimized? make those windows show up on the dock? I know about expose, and I use it a lot (especially the application and all windows features). I know about spaces too, but I still would like something more like I described above.

When she closes the window, she cannot open another without closing the program and reopening. I've tried creating a .xinitrc with the path to /usr/X11R6/bin, but that then wouldn't even open any windows.

I know this is a Windows type thing, but it's something I like when I Bootcamp into XP. I switch between windows a lot, and it's nice how on XP in the taskbar at the bottom all the windows are displayed. I know I can do CMD + Tab, I know I can do the display all windows, but it's just a lot easier this way. I sit back in my chair a lot while browsing the internets and its easier if I can do it with my mouse. I was wondering if the active windows can be displayed in the upper menu bar, not the Dock, because mine autohides and it would be easier in the menu.

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust recently I took my 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2010 Model) to my local Apple Store. When I brought it there they fixed my problem, but in the mean time they had to completely delete and uninstall Safari and Google Chrome off of my laptop. Before the apple store, my Safari would always open pop-ups and links in a new tab, now they open up in a new window. how to change it so they open in new tabs? The reason I need this changed is I might have unecessary websites open, and they would just be taking up space.Â

I usually have four apps running during the day. I keep them in their separate windows.
Is there a way to open the app in it's own window? Everytime I start an an, it opens in window number 1 and then I have to move it to it's own window. I know this isn't a huge chore, but it does take time and if you do it every morning, it gets tiresome.

I don't remember if this was a problem in previous versions of OS X but I have just begun using Yosemite and am sick an tired of seeing that sidebar in every window I open. I have searched the net looking for a way to default to "no sidebar" for every window I open to no avail.Â
Any terminal command or other solution to change this default behavior?
All of a sudden my folders will not open in their own windows..Earlier I was fine then all of a sudden it stopped.

When I use the internet, if i click on anything to type, like the search or a login bar to my uni student account, or to my online banking account, it without fail, redirects me to another window. The other window most commonly is a mac keeper add telling me that I need to clean up my Mac as they are trying to get me to download something. I can exit off this window, and I go back to the other window. The other common one which is extremely frustrating is one saying that something has been detected blah blah blah, but it won't let me exit it from it. This gets annoying especially when I am writing papers for uni, and I have to shut down all my sources just because of one stupid pop up. I have also noticed that Netflix now had a bunch of pop up adds as well. I am very careful with what I put on my computer as I know you can get viruses from internet downloads. It all started when I let my lovely sister use my computer for a bit, but apparently solitare is not a cool enough game for her, so she downloaded that imvu game. After that, that's when I noticed all the pop ups and what not. I deleted it hoping that the ads would go away, but it didn't work. They are still there. How do I fix this because it is SO annoying. (it's a MacBook Air, has the mavericks operating system thing, processor 1.4 Ghz Intel Core i5, OS X version 10.9.6.

Has anyone ever not been able to get a particular Windows app to open on their Mac?I have searched to no avail (maybe I just fail at searching).Until now, I've never had a problem getting ANY Windows application to open on my Mac using VMWare Fusion, let alone when booting "natively" into Windows XP using boot camp.
I've installed (without a problem) a MoTeC ECU management program (called ECU Manager) but cannot get it to start. I've done all the standard Windows troubleshooting things like reinstalling, disabling virus and firewall software, checking permissions, removing all references in the registry before re-trying etc etc. No go.I can get the software to work on a borrowed HP laptop and also my PC desktop without a problem. What to do? I really need to use this software on my laptop. I only bought a MBP because Windows and all Windows software run on them. Seems I was wrong? I would be really disappointed if I have to go out and by a PC laptop. May as well sell the Mac if I can't use Windows software.
I recently got a Macbook Pro and decided to put windows on it. The installation went fine I formatted it with FAT, and now I have to install the drivers. Since I dont have a CD I downloaded the 2.1 BC Drivers from the apple website and put it into my windows, but now when I got to open the drivers in windows it simply does nothing no matter what I try. Did I do something wrong or did I simply forget something
View 1 Replies View RelatedApple thinks there is no need for a button on the tower. Now I can't open or close the CD tray without the mouse. Via right click I can open it at least but to close it, I have to push the drawer, which I'm not a big fan of, as the machine is brand new and cost me 4k.
Due to my fingers tripping over themselves I accidentally double clicked and opened a bunch of stuff, about 50 files in all. Annoying but doable to manually close them. However, suppose I had accidentally opened 500 or 5,000 or 50,000? Hopefully I wont ever do this , but if I did Is there a way to get back to a 'clean' screen by killing these, perhaps even 'kill everything that opened in the last 5 minutes', or is logoff or even a restart the only realistic way
