Hardware :: No Expose Function In Magic Mouse?
Oct 30, 2009the whole purpose for purchasing the Mighty Mouse was that it worked so well with the Mac and made everything so natural.
the new mouse seems to remove this extremely useful feature.
Can anyone tell me if there is some multi-touch capability in the new mouse that interfaces with Expose.
If not, then this mouse is worthless until Apple puts the feature back in - buttons on the side again or not.
If you use the new mouse, you cannot use expose without having to reach over your keyboard.
OS X :: Changing Alt / Option Key Performs Expose Function
Jan 31, 2010I am new to MacRumors Forums and I have a problem with both my Alt/Option Key and the left side Command Key on my MacBook Pro. Basically, whenever pressed the Alt/Option Key performs the "Expose" function revealing all the open windows so that I cant ever actually use the Alt/Option key in various key commands with different programs. Also, the left side Command Key, whenever pressed, hides all my open windows to reveal the Desktop, but thankfully there is a right side Command Key to my keyboard that I can use. Now, Ive gone into the System Preferences and tried to alter the Keyboard short-cut commands as well as restore the defaults to no avail, I just cant seem to get it to revert back to normalcy - I need this key to work right so that I can do the necessary shortcuts in Logic Pro.

Sep 1, 2014iMac OS X version 10.9.4 showing Numbers '09 version 2.3. I installed Numbers version 3.2.2 on August 28, 2014. But Numbers will not permit me to open any documents in iCloud Numbers by a pop-up indicating I need the newer version of Numbers 3.2.2!!!!! When I go to AppStore to do so, it shows I installed it in August and will not permit me to get it.   Â

Jan 12, 2010Sometimes (not always but easy enough to reproduce) when I minimize windows (especially MS Word) and then activate expose to see everything the minimized windows look like this. I've got a completely clean install (no migration assistant etc) of SL 10.6.2 on a 13inch MBP. It's not really a huge problem just curious if anyone else has experienced this? I'm hoping it might disappear in 10.6.3 but I'm sure that is a long shot

Apr 8, 2010Sometimes with expose I find that I have fifteen windows/browsers open, and want to close a bunch of them. So far I've been selecting each one individually to bring it up, then closing it, then going back into expose to get the next one and do the same. Is there anyway I can just close windows while viewing them in expose without having to select them and exit expose?

Jun 21, 2009if I have four windows open in Safari and hit Expose, sometimes the windows are neatly exploded into a square, with each window at a corner of the square. Other times, the same four windows are sort of scattered in a stair-step arrangement. Yet other times, the SAME four windows are just randomly scattered across my desktop.
I'm just curious how Expose determines how to scatter the windows, and if there is something that I can do to control the window scatter order and structure?

Sep 10, 2009I'm probably daft but why do the windows swap positions in Expose? I mean... what's the point? There doesn't seem to be any logic to it. (But I'm probably missing it).
I go in and out of Expose a lot and find myself always hunting for the window I want - hard to do on a 13" screen. (Especially when I ain't sober which is most of the time).
At least the titling of each window in SL helps a bit.

May 28, 2010my son got on my computer, and now when i use expose, as soon as I release the buttons, the exposed windows zip off the screen. The whole perimeter of the screen is shaded as well. I have to click on the app in the dock to get the window back, or on the edge of the window. It is very annoying. I can't see any changes he could have made in preferences. (He is not even 2.)

OS X :: Way To Close Windows/apps While In Expose?
Jun 3, 2010I love expose, but I often find myself with 10+ windows/browsers/apps open that I no longer need. It feels so intuitive to hold my cursor over something I want to close to highlight it, and right click it (two finger tap) to close it. But of course this is not the case.
To my knowledge there is no way to close stuff while in Expose. Am I right or is there a way to close stuff while viewed in Expose?

May 18, 2010I have a 21.5 inch iMac and after using the expose feature for about 30 mins or so it acts strange. I normally use it through the 3rd 'squeeze' buttons on my mighty mouse but it happens with the expose button on the keyboard too. When I activate expose it chucks all the windows out but then brings them all back straight away where before it used to chuck em out n scatter them until I pressed it again. I tried changing the mouse and keyboard and did a software update too but no luck. The same thing happened in my previous 20inch aluminium iMac?!

OS X :: Function Hot Key - Make Swap Instead Of Having To Open Up System Preferences
Nov 7, 2010I know how in keyboard preferences to mark the check box that says "Use function keys as standard function keys," but my question is, is there a way to use a hot key to make this swap instead of having to open up system preferences, navigate to the proper pane and tab, and click the box? I have a couple programs where I absolutely need function keys to be function keys, but for general purpose use, I need the function keys to be the spiffy stuff printed on them.
Ideally I'd love for the system to look at what app was in the foreground (that is, has control of the menu bar) and recognize this app as needing access to function-function keys and make the swap for me, but I don't think this is possible at the moment, and having a hot key to change it would be the next best thing.

Now, for some reason it wont work and the only way to do so is to minimize each screen till i find the right one. I am not sure what, if anything, i have done to change this setting.

Apr 28, 2012There's one thing I'm really missing from Snow Leopard in recent months which has been replaced by what I regard as Lion's inferior 'Mission Control'. How many times would you sit down, open up 20 or so Photoshop files and toggle between the F9 and F10 keys to present all 20 pictures instantly on the desktop using Expose. Mission Control doesn't perform nearly as well doing the same task.Â

Jul 1, 2012I usually have four apps running during the day. I keep them in their separate windows.
Is there a way to open the app in it's own window? Everytime I start an an, it opens in window number 1 and then I have to move it to it's own window. I know this isn't a huge chore, but it does take time and if you do it every morning, it gets tiresome.

Intel Mac :: Unable To Open Leopard Files On Windows Server?
Mar 14, 2012We had a mac which was on Leopard and saved files to the serverÂ
The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files. That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issuesÂ
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing. E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.Â
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number. we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion

Mar 22, 2012After upgrading to Lion I see a check box at shutdown to refrain from opening web pages currently open in Safari. I did that, unchecked it, but they still open. How odd they would make this a opt out scenario - is there a way to make this permanent? I liked the old way where you could go into History and do it during a new session.
