Intel Mac :: Why Cant View Multiple Open Windows
Apr 19, 2012I used to be able to scroll the pointer down to the lower right hand side of the screen to display the multiple Internet Explorer windows that i had open. Now, for some reason it wont work and the only way to do so is to minimize each screen till i find the right one. I am not sure what, if anything, i have done to change this setting.

Dec 6, 2014This is a weird one, just started this week. I'm on OS 10.9.5.
Whenever I click on the EDIT tab in the toolbar in *multiple* applications: InDesign, Photoshop, MS Word, iTunes, Chrome, the application crashes. Firefox doesn't seem to be effected.
The only activity immediately preceding the issue were 2 software updates to MEMORY CLEAN app which I've since deleted and to Pro Video Formats which I don't *think* I can un-install.

Aug 27, 2008I have a user that seems to have a broken X11 in Tiger. She is unable to open multiple xterm windows by pressing the key combination or selecting from the menu. When she closes the window, she cannot open another without closing the program and reopening. I've tried creating a .xinitrc with the path to /usr/X11R6/bin, but that then wouldn't even open any windows.

Jun 6, 2014I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…

Mar 29, 2012When I open safari it opens multiple windows (260 to be exact) all of the same website and causing a temporary freeze of my computer. Then safari crashes and I have to force quit. Any suggestions? I have already unchecked restore windows in my system preferences.

Dec 2, 2014I've created a joint account, one for my self and one for my wife as we both have apple id's. I have transferred photos from my windows laptop to the shared folder in 'macintosh' so this library is available for all three user profiles, however there are folders within i would like only for designated users.
How can I save these folders to the picture folder when logged in to a specific account? I would then like to delete these folders from the shared library.
At the moment I can only click on the iPhoto library which takes me there and shows me the folders but i cannot see anyway of selecting specific folders and moving them to another location.

Jun 20, 2014New iMac at first of year has always locked up with green squares (1/4") randomly on the open window. I have to do a hard boot to unlock the screen. This may happen 5 or 6 times a day but I'm finding no pattern. It happens in any software, mail, internet browser, extra programs and only using what I need at the moment, including mail and internet, hasn't worked. I've run disk utility - repair disk and repair permissions multiple times to no avail. I've reinstalled the OS Mavericks and Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop & Premiere Pro), no improvement.

Some times you need to open a lot of windows while working, like a couple of firefox windows (with tabs =)), 2 pdf documents, skype, xcode, word documents etc. In Microsoft Windows all your 'windows' are on the task bar and you can click on it to show it or alt tab your way through your windows. In mac if you alt tab it gives you like the root program not the windows and to access the windows you have to choose them from the Windows menu, and I tried expose and its a cool thing =D but still i'm not comfortable navigating with it, so i was wondering if i'm missing sth. Can you tell me what is the way you comfortably handle multiple windows?

Sep 4, 2014I have an iMac from 2008. It got stuck in an infinite boot loop, so I took it to the local Apple Store. After they ran some diagnostics, it was determined that it was either a bad Logic Board, or Hard Drive. Because of the age of the computer, he said he was unable to work on it. Said it was "legacy" or "vintage"or something. So he gave me a little direction on how to open it up, and how to get to the hard drive (I'm fairly comfortable working on hardware replacements). Using a borrowed hard drive, I was able to boot to a Windows XP install (this was an old hard drive out of a Windows PC), which tells me that the original hard drive is shot.
So I am going to purchase a new Hard Drive this weekend, but I am unsure how to install Mavericks. This is the only Mac I have access to, so I cannot use another Mac to create a bootable USB drive or CD/DVD. Mavericks doesn't come with a disc, so I cannot use that. Snow Leopard is the newest OS disc that I have, so I could use that, but was hoping to just do a clean Mavericks install instead.
I have a Time Machine backup from less than 2 weeks ago. Is it possible to use that backup to install the OS on a new, clean, hard drive?
Is there a way on a Windows computer, to make a boot USB drive that I can use on my iMac? Or am I better off using the Snow Leopard disc, and then use the App Store to update the OS?

Sep 12, 2014I have the latest iMac - OS X Mavericks. I recently shifted from Windows to iMac. I am a photographer and have thousands of pictures in my external hard-drive (Western Digital) that I have backed up by folder name (YYYY-MM-DD) using windows. But, now I have started using my iMac and planning to backup my new pictures stored in iPhoto library. I am not sure how can get the original pictures by year, month and day from iPhotos and copy them in external drive using the same folder structure - YYYY-MM-DD.
Not sure how to do this simpler. At this time I tried to go to iPhoto, then do Reveal in finder, go to that folder, select all my files, copy them, go to external harddrive, create a folder - YYYY-MM-DD and copy them. I can do this for each hundreds of folder sitting in my iPhoto.

The file system we use is a Windows 2008 File Server, this has worked fine with leopard for years
However I understand that Leopard splits the files into resource forks - and that Lion has dropped support for these files. That particular mac is now on Lion as we upgraded and encountering LOTS of issues
I unable to open or edit lots of the files as i believe chunks of the files are missing. E.g an .eps file showed as 740KB on leopard - Viewing from a windows PC it was 730kb for the .eps and 10kb for the ._ resource fork.
Now that we are on the LION upgrade, we only see the .eps file and it is only 730kb. Information missing is things such as preview (quark), Font data, type of file, version number. we have hundreds! of images, files etc created with leopard and now upgraded to lion they all have become useless!
Rejoining the resource forks and files together so that they are usable on lion
