I simply plugged in my HP C4180 All in One after starting up my MAC. It was installed in seconds. I can printer without a problem. My problem is the scan feature. When calling up scan from the actual printer, it does NOT give an option to scan to a file. I have no installation disk for MAC so I'm at a stand still.
I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out. This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.
I have an HP printer and I can't use the scan option because it doesn't show up on my computer. ANd when I try it from the printer it gives me an error window.

I get a -5000 access denied error every time I try to install Canoscan driver software. I tried repairing permissions, rebooted etc. It still happens. I cannot scan.
I heard that on Tiger Macs, You are able to upgrade the OS straight to Snow Leopard. But what concerns me is if I upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger...would I lose features from the Leopard OS?
Would it also take up more space since your installing another OS to get to Snow Leopard? i just wanted to get a few things straight before my snow leopard arrives in the mail =o
I have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx) I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.
My HP Photosmart 3210 all-in-one wouldn't initialize and sent error messages after I installed Snow Leopard yesterday. I went on the HP support network, which gave me a solution that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, plus in the past I never had to take all the extra steps to scan a photo. The HP support site claims that upgrades for HP Printer devices was included with Snow Leopard. So why can't I just press the scan button like I used to?
I purchased a copy of SL that I want to install on my MBA. I know that Leopard can be installed using the remote disk feature since my MBA doesn't have a DVD drive. problem is that I can't find anywhere saying that SL will support that function. Although I did see that the minimum system requirements require a DVD drive, but it doesn't say anything about a remote drive.
I'm sure it would be stupid if it wasn't supported, but then again you can't installed XP without the SuperDrive.
how to get the scanner on a Canon MP800 scanner/printer to scan with Lion software. I've installed the Canon Version 3.0.4 driver but it still doesn't work.

I am trying to install an HP Laserjet 5100 printer onto my Mac (10.5.6) with little success. I have downloaded the driver and when I double click on the .dmg file, I go through the steps and install it. It says it is correctly installed. Yet, I cannot see it when I try to print something.
I have an printer. I connected this printer with USB to a computer with windows XP. I shared this printer in a network. When I acces it from another windows PC, it works fine. However when I try to use it from my mac (OS X 10.5.8) it does not work. I can find the printer on the network (System preferences-> Print and Fax -> + -> Windows -> select printer). (Note, I'm dutch, so I translated the names, I hope it is clear).
Now here the problem starts:
When I select the printer, I have to choose (Print according and here I can select various kinds of printer drivers. But the Epson stylus pro 4000 is not in the list! So I did have a look on the internet and found that this printer cannot work full functionally at OS X 10.5.x. However there was a 3.09 version which allowed some limited use. So I did download this file and installed it. But what do I have to do now? The driver still is not in the driver list in the add printer menu.
I am having a problem installing a printer on XP within parallels. I am using the bonjour setup wizard to install the printer. When I use the setup, I am able to see the printer and go through the necessary steps to set it up. When I choose to finish the install windows tells me I don't have permission to install the printer.
How do I change the permissions so I can install the printer?

Apple Genius Bar installed Mavericks on my Mac and I transferred information from the back-up, but now the Canon MP640 is not linked. Have not ben able to achieve this - the instruction is to go to Canon for latest software. Have downloaded what I believe is the appropriate software, but still cannot make the connection.
ON my PowerBook G4/OS X.4 (Tiger) the Canon printer MP980 connected wirelessly to my home network (Airport) worked just fine. Now I have installed Leopard and everything was lost. Reinstalled the printer, drivers. The Mac recognizes the printer, the printer shows in the printer list but when I attempt to print, I get a message: "The printer is off-line".
I have a Brother HL-2270 DW printer setup on my network. I see it as an option to add, but when I select it, it says that the software is available through apple. So it makes me select "install and continue" or "cancel". If i select continue, it works on it and then says it is not able to find the software. So i manually went on to the brother website and downloaded the driver. WHen I go back to add the printer it still wants to go through the apple software databse, and as a result I cannot load the printer.
I tried to install a Cannon 620 printer. It seemed to go ok, showed up on the printer list when I tried to send a job, but it wouldn't come online and print. I fiddled around (bad idea) and changed the printer sharing parameters, and now whenever I try to go into system preferences, printer/fax, it freezes and I have to force quite. Same with other apps when I try to do something with the printer (like word). I tried to uninstall, but can't get to the driver to uninstall it, as it is in systems preferences. how to uninstall even though I can't get into the system pref printer options?
My grandfather purchased a Brother MFC-J6510DW all in one printer several weeks ago and since day one we cannot get the thing installed and recognised on his mac.He running an Imac with OS X 10.7. Originally the computer recognised the printer but when we tried to print nothing would happen. We opened up the printer que and noticed that the job had a error but the system didnt tell me what error.I have visited the Brother website and followed the advice to uninstall all the printer drivers and associated docs and then reinstalled the drivers..... Now my grandfathers machine will not recognise my printer at all and when we try to manually search for the drivers (that we have installed) the mac does not load any for this specific printer. Is there anyone out there who can shine a light on our problem)?
I'd like to know how I can install the driver for this printer--I've tried everything for the software downloads, but no luck --isn't there some hardware or software?
This now happens for any document, not only office documents. It appears the iMac regards the printer as ready and waiting, but the printer keeps looping the same page and the paper jams every time. After getting the paper out, the printer re-starts the same page again - with a new paper jam as result.
The printer is a Samsung CLP315 colour laser printer, connected through USB.
Only "solution" is to get the paper out and then quickly turn the printer off, and start it again to print a new page. I have an iMac 21", bought in May last year (the then new generation).iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I installed a new HP Officejet Pro8600. It all is synched, but will not print.I think I need to uninstall the existing HP Photosmart C4480, first. Then reinstall the newer HP Officejet.how to uninstall the existing printer.
The final message says (my-name-computer):/I have no name!I tried safe start but it just shuts down after the start ip screen.I tried starting with the OS disk in but didn't help.
