Jun 22, 2012My son called and said his wi-fi stopped working. His internet connection is good and he can connect directly to the router and get a connection, however, he needs the wi-fi. He has powered down the IMAC,router, modem with no luck. Under network preferences it says not connected, with yellow light. No network IP address for the router as I assume it cannot find it. He is running OS X 10.6

Jun 4, 2009I upgraded my 802.11b router to an Airport Extreme. My MacPro is connected via LAN. My Macbook has a successful wireless connection to my network.
My problem: I want my Dell on Windows XP to have a wireless connection as well. The PC is still looking for the old router: Dell Trumobile 1180. I am still using the Trumobile 1180 wireless adapter to find my new network.
The wireless connection is excellent; however the Dell is not recognizing my new network.
Hardware :: Failure To Recognize Network?
May 9, 2008I recently had my MacPro upgraded with the Airport Extreme N chip. When I purchased the system I chose not to get it because I never envisioned using it on a desktop. However, I recently relocated and the condo construction and location of the cable feed prevented me from using Ethernet as my connection.
The strength of the signal is only 1/2 of the one I get with my MacBook Pro. Also, while the MacBook Pro remembers my network and automatically connects to it when I turn it on, the MacPro does not and I must either leave it in Sleep mode or enter all of the parameters for my wireless security each time I turn it on.
I use WPA2 and AES on a DLink DIR-655 Wireless N Router. I have the SSID set to not broadcast. While I was thinking that might be the problem, I don't understand why it would work on the laptop and not the desktop. They are both running the latest version of Mac OS/X Leopard.

Unable To Recognize Airport Express Network?
Jun 10, 2012My computer is recognizing my airport express network at first but then slips to an exclamation mark. I have followed the steps to reset everything and it ends up keeping me on a loop of asking me to rest everything after I do so. network is recognized on list along with all my neighbors.

Jul 1, 2012I have an external drive partitioned into 4s, 3 of them are for backups. I backed up each computer via USB, then connected the external to my Airport Extreme. I've done this before, and all worked well, however, this time around not so much. None of the computers recognize the previous backup and want to do a complete backup over wifi, which as you can imagine would take forever, especially for my iMac with 400 GB to back up. how can I get my computers to recognize the previous backups without having to connect the external via USB every time I want to back my computers up?

My desktop PC has Bluetooth. I cannot get the Mac & PC to recognize each other. I can't share files across the network [on the Mac]. I can't even figure out how to restart the notebook or create favorites in Safari.Â

Nov 15, 2009i have my xbox hooked up to the internet through my airport extreme but recently it stopped recognizing my network and i cant figure out why? All of my other wireless devices work on my airport except my 360 and my imac running windows 7 in bootcamp finds my network but only gives me limited access to the network.

Nov 27, 2009I just bought a Macbook Pro, I love it, it's my first Mac ever. I've been a PC guy up until now. Here's my problem:
I have a PC desktop (running Windows XP) set up with my router so I can access my external hard drives via the network. Basically, I plug the HD's into the PC, the PC recognizes them, and I set them to be shared over the network. Really simple. However, I plugged a spare HD into my Macbook Pro to use with Time Machine. It worked fine, the HD is set up and working with Time Machine.
I then went to plug the Time Machine HD into my PC desktop so that I could access it through the network from my Mac and use Time Machine wirelessly, but the PC won't recognize the Time Machine HD. It doesn't show up in My Computer, or anything, nothing happens when it is plugged into the PC. I'm guessing it is simply a formatting issue or something.

Feb 19, 2012I just purchased a Seagate "GoFlex Desk" 2 TB External Drive. It is recognized just fine in my MacBook Pro (Early 2011). When I plug it into my Intel iMac (2009?), it is not recognized. Both machines are running Lion. The box says the disk is "USB 3.0 + USB 2.0". I tried an iMac USB port that is functioning fine with another USB 2 drive. Â

Apr 5, 2012I have just recently bought the Mid 2011 IMac. I put in a DVD disc into the side slot, and my IMac did not even recognize that it was in there. Now it is stuck in the slot and won't come out. I have tried the Eject button on ITunes, and the Disk Utility Eject won't work since it does not recognize that there is a disc in there. I can't drag the disc to the trash can either because it doesn't show up on my Desktop. Also, the Terminal Eject won't work either.

Apr 1, 2012I just blew out my old tiny keyboard that came with my iMac. I went out today and bought a new full sized keyboard from Best Buy with the alphanumeric keys. I followed the instructions which read:  Setting up your keyboardPlug the USB cable from your keyboard into an available USB port on your MacChoose Apple>Software Update from the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions.When installation is complete and you've restarted you Mac, use Software Update again to make sure all of the available updates are installed.Â
I followed these instructions, and the best that I got told is that my iTunes was out of date, which I updated. My keynboard is working (obviously, I was able to post this), but it isn't recognizing the new placement of the volume buttons and such. Â

May 14, 2012I inserted a DVD-R into my iMac (which I know contains pictures, viewed on PC) but it only recognizes the disk as being blank. My machine responds exactly as I assign it to when a blank disk is inserted so I'm assuming the problem is not with my iMac but rather the format of the disk. I do not know which platform the disk was created with nor the type of machine. However, as I stated, I do know for a fact that this disk contains photos as Ive viewed them on a PC.
