I have enabled the Parental Control of my account as Administrator Account. When I try to unlock it, it doesn't recognize my name. There are no other accounts on the computer. I have tried to change the password and reinstall Mac OS. It didn't help. What shal I do? How can I make my Mac recognize the administrator name?

After upgrading to Leopard, when I try to install or update any program on my computer it asks for the Administrator username and password. Well that should not be a problem seeing as how I am the administrator and so I type in my name and my password and it says "you must type an administrator's name and password to make changes to software update." So I went to system settings and checked and it no longer has my account as the administrator and I can't make any changes because I am not the administrator no more. After installing Leopard, this has happened. What should I do? (I am fairly new to Macs, I have had my Macbook about 3 months.) I also noticed that my Macbook (when I shut it) has started to wake itself up from sleep mode and stay that way while it's still closed.

A couple of weeks ago I re installed leopard on to my I Mac because of memory issues. Something went wrong and the computer created its own administrator. Now I can't update any applications or change any of the settings. I can't restart the computer from the disk because it asks for the admin password. I am running OS X Mavericks, and when I want to, let's say, install a Sims 3 game, it asks for my administrator password. Now since someone else owns the computer (and they don't want me to know their password but I can install the games with their permission) I don't know the admin password, and I want to know, is there a way to bypass that admin password without having to reset it to a pass I know? I just purchased a Seagate "GoFlex Desk" 2 TB External Drive. It is recognized just fine in my MacBook Pro (Early 2011). When I plug it into my Intel iMac (2009?), it is not recognized. Both machines are running Lion. The box says the disk is "USB 3.0 + USB 2.0". I tried an iMac USB port that is functioning fine with another USB 2 drive. Â

I have just recently bought the Mid 2011 IMac. I put in a DVD disc into the side slot, and my IMac did not even recognize that it was in there. Now it is stuck in the slot and won't come out. I have tried the Eject button on ITunes, and the Disk Utility Eject won't work since it does not recognize that there is a disc in there. I can't drag the disc to the trash can either because it doesn't show up on my Desktop. Also, the Terminal Eject won't work either.

It installed (took 2 hours) and all seemed well until - I went to log in.. I put in my pw (same pw since I bought the Imac) and it wont recognize it?
It wont recognize the master pw either.. What can I do - I live very far (200km) from an Apple store...Â

I just blew out my old tiny keyboard that came with my iMac. I went out today and bought a new full sized keyboard from Best Buy with the alphanumeric keys. I followed the instructions which read:  Setting up your keyboardPlug the USB cable from your keyboard into an available USB port on your MacChoose Apple>Software Update from the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions.When installation is complete and you've restarted you Mac, use Software Update again to make sure all of the available updates are installed.Â
I followed these instructions, and the best that I got told is that my iTunes was out of date, which I updated. My keynboard is working (obviously, I was able to post this), but it isn't recognizing the new placement of the volume buttons and such. Â
