Intel Mac :: OS X 10.7.4 Doesn't Turn Off After Last Software Update
May 30, 2012
The problem is this: when I try to turn off my IMac, the desktop disappears and the display becomes white, without anything else. It may stay in this way for several hours, maybe days.
I only can turn it off by pushing the on/off button for ten seconds. The start up is also very slow.
i don't know what i did in Terminal a few weeks ago and now i'm having problems. I firts noticed this when trying to update my ipad and iphone to ios5.1 itunes kept showing the message "connecting to the iphone software actualisation server" but it stayed this way for hours. I think i touched something in Terminal i didn't had to.Can anyone tell me how to reput iTunes in to its default settings using Terminal?
my laptop (macbook pro) doesn't turn on, because the battery doesn't work (may be because of moisture), and the 7 battery lights on the left side are off, and when I plug the charger in, the light on the magnetic socket turns on so dim ..
Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?
- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).
- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).
Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
I have set in my Energy Saver Prefs to have my display turn off in two minutes and have the computer never turn off while plugged in. I am running MBP with NVidia GeForce 9600M (I have the option to go to "Better Battery Life" and switch it to 9400 if I so choose.)
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Can somebody try to replicate it and tell me if it's just me? This happened when I installed 10.6.3, .2 was fine.
My MacBook pro 15 doesn't turn on, I pressed the power buttom but nothing, no sounds, no lights, no signals of life. Only the battery bottom is responding and the battery is totally full. I bought it in April 2010 and the battery is not removable.
My MacBook Air was purchased in September 2011 and I've really enjoyed this computer. The complaint I have is that it wouldn't turn on about two weeks ago. I had to bring it to an Apple Store and the logic board was replaced. The service was good and it was a one day turn around time. Now the computer is down again with the same symptoms and I've tried the recommended procedures to try to turn it on without any luck.
My laptop was fully charged and it went to sleep. About an hour later, it's as if it is dead. The screen is black. I can't even turn it on. None of the lights are on. I plugged in my 2 old! charger and it won't been light up. I have had no problems with this charger and have tried different outlets. My laptop was fully charged so I don't understand why it's not turning on. I can't reset anything because it doesn't even boot up. I near how beeps and chimes. I let it charge for a while and still the charger isn't lighting il and the laptop won't turn on.
I am really upset because my trusty MacBook pro running the latest version of leopard decided not to turn on today. I already tried resetting the pram but I don't even hear the chime. I can hear my HD stRt but it downtown access anything. It just spins. Do you thnk I need a new logic board? I really hope not because They are like 400 on eBay. I tried taking the battery out And holding pwr button.
It just started getting really hot quickly for about a week before it didn't turn on. I would have it tilted so that its not flat, hoping that it would give it more air but it didn't do anything. I don't even need to do much to get it really hot. And I shut it off every night, so it should get to reset itself. I haven't done anything different that I haven't before. Any fixes please!? Also what's really weird is that it gets hotter and hotter even when it is off and not even plugged in.
So I bought my 13inch MacBook Pro Retina two weeks ago. 70% of the time when opening the lid the screen will not turn on but my keyboard backlight will. I then have to either close the lid and open again or press the power to put the system to sleep and wake again. It seems the system is working fine just not the screen.Â
I have tried the SMC and PRAM reset which seemed to work for half of the day, now the problem is back.
I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install. Â
This is something that has happened since my initial installation of XP on my bootcamp partition. Whenever the light sensor detects low light, the backlight turns on at full blast. This is normal. However, when I go to turn the backlight off completely (as to save battery or if I'm watching a movie in windows and I don't want to see the keyboard lit up) it turns it down, but not completely off. Even though the backlight indicator claims that it is down the whole way, it never completely turns off. In OSX when I do this, it turns it completely off whenever I set it to the same setting.
has anyone had something similar in their MBP or any ideas of what is wrong? Is it just something with the drivers?
So this morning I woke up and went to press the power button of my Macbook, but nothing happened. I noticed that there is no white IR light and the fan doesn't respond. I checked the battery, it was at full. The power cable was also green when i plugged it into the Macbook. However, it still wouldn't turn on.
Just a general comment, I use the Macbook as a printer server and to browse the internet, so nothing intensive is forced onto the Macbook. So then I tried resetting the SMU, didn't work. I tried turning it on with only battery , and then with only power source, both didn't work either.I have never spilled anything on this macbook, never dropped it, smashed it, or abused it in any way. However, it is 2 years old and I never bought Applecare (Usually, if something is defective, it will show within the first 30 days). I assume it's a logic board failure, and it's going to cost around 700 to fix (which i'd rather just get a new macbook).
I was wondering if anybody know of a reason why the logic board broke, or if there is any remedies that i haven't tried yet? Also, I'm thinking of pawning it off on ebay and then save up and wait for the Macbook Pro refresh. Does anyone have an estimate on how much I can get for a broken Macbook (screen is fine, 4gb of ram (i might replace it w/ 2gb instead) 250 gb HD (might replace with 80gb HD instead), 2.0 ghz c2d (prbly useless cuz the logic board is fried)
I haven't used my mac for a month but it use to work perfectly fine. I tried to use it but it wouldn't turn on. When i plug the magsafe connecter the led goes orange. But when i press the power button it doesn't turn on. i tried smc reset using left shift, control and option (and power button) while charging and not charging but it doesn't work.
A few hours ago i tried to turn it on but it only showed the apple screen for a few seconds and turn off automatically.. i can't turn it back on anymore..
It doesn't response to the power button nothing happen after pressing the button. I am sure it is charged... what should i do..?
Recently I have a big problem with my macbook Pro, I don't know why but my device doesn't turn on when I shut it down. and I should wait for hours or sometimes for a whole day!!! what should I do?
I'm not entirely sure how long my iMac has been doing this, maybe two weeks? When I try to wake it from sleep, the screen does not turn on. At all. At first I thought this was because my mouse and keyboard might not be functioning correctly, naturally the only remedy was to turn the computer off with the power button and to restart it (which took an abnormally long time). Today I remote connected with Back to my Mac screen sharing and it did not turn on either. I know it was awake because when I pressed the brightness buttons on the keyboard, it responded on my MBA's view of the screen. Normally, Back to my Mac does turn the screen back on. Anyone else have the same problem? It doesn't seem to matter WHEN it goes to sleep either. I've tried resetting the PRAM already and no dice.
I just finish update my MacBook Air to Maverick and it turned off to restart. But it did not. When you try to turn it on it shows you Apple logo, seems like loading and after few seconds it turns off automatically.
My Macbook doesn't turn on, it just show a white screen and after a while a big question mark blinks but nothing else, cannot click the question mark, cannot do anything. Also it makes a funny noise.
