My Mac has slowed down in the last few days. Any tip on how to clean-up the possible unnecessary files?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems that whenever I uninstall an application, there is always an empty folder of the program I uninstalled in Library>Application Support and possibly others. Why wouldn't OS X delete those automatically after I uninstalled them? They obviously don't take up too much space cause it's just an empty folder, but why doesn't os x automatically delete it?

I have a file in one directory (Direcotry A) named users.yml, and a file in another directory (Directory B) called users.yml.Those directory A and directory B are in the same super directory. Is there any way I could have both of the users.yml sync with eachother so if I changed one, the other file would be the same?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have made a powerpoint presentation for a class. The task was to record ourselves speaking and import the audio files to go along with a slideshow presentation. I recorded in GarageBand and imported the files to iTunes and then into my presentation. The slideshow works on my computer, but once I try to play it on any other computer (both Mac and PC) the audio files are "unavailable" and don't play. What do I need to do so that the files can play?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am still using Tiger. Down to about 15% (17 of 104GB) free space on hard drive and looking to unload unnecessary stuff. /Library/Printers (3GB): I assume I can safely get rid of everything related to printers I do not use.... /Library/Audio/Apple Loops (3GB): of stuff for GarageBand and iLife, which I never use... /Library/Application Support: another 3GB of stuff for GarageBand and iLife... (in fact, can I simply Spotlight for GarageBand and iLife and remove almost everything associated?) Any reasons I should not delete the above? Anything else I should consider deleting? (The big hog is Parallels, but I use that daily). I have pared Documents to the essentials.

What do I do on a Mac? I need it to be permanent, not temporary (like I know how to shut off iTunes helper for a session- I want it off after restarts, too.
Also, I want to pare this mac down to just the essentials- any advice for what to kill, and what I should not touch?
I'm trying to connect my iMac to my macbook via ethernet, and my macbook recognizes my iMac, but my iMac doesn't recognize my macbook. This means that in my macbook network settings, the Ethernet icon is green, while in my iMac network settings, the Ethernet is yellow. Both say Status: Connected, but my iMac's ethernet is yellow for some reason. How do I get it to turn green and recognize my Macbook? I don't think this makes a difference, but my iMac is 10.6.8 and my macbook is 10.5.8.

But i have a few basic questions and all since i am a new mac user coming from a pc. 1- I have a 500GB western digital elite harddrive that i used to back up all the data from my pc. Now some of these files are over 8GB large. I am confused as to how i can transfer over files. I have heard about different file formats but i am very confused by each. I would love if the hardrive could be used for both mac and pc tho. Does anyone have any insight to this. 2- Are there any free programs i should download. I already have coconut battery, adium, istat pro and iwork.
