I am trying to install a firmware update for my camera and it will not install unless I use a 32 bit kernel. I am stumped on how to do it.

The 32-bit Snow Leopard kernel can run both 32-bit and 64-bit apps. The biggest bang for the buck is running 64-bit applications.
i had my first kernel panic today an application wouldn't respond i clicked on activity monitor and BOOM it told me to restart should i be worried? os x has been weird lately i mean whenever i restart spotlight wants to reindex my hardrive it only takes like 30 seconds for it to be done but still weird. everything seems snappy as always. also i partition my hard drive 2 times with boot camp assistant is that bad? i dont mind reinstalling os x i have a time machine back up but i dont want to go through the hassle(again)
View 6 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine got an iBook G4 14" with a 60GB HD that wasn't working, so he exchanged the HD, but now he is not able to get the iBook up and running because he doesn't have the installation DVDs for Tiger or any other OSX
My question is, could I use my OSX installation DVD (Tiger) in order to install Tiger to his iBook and get it up and running? I have my original installation DVDs and everything that came with my iBook, but I don't know if those will only work with my computer, or if they're limited to be installed in one computer at a time.
I have the most recent versions of iLife, iWorks, and Office for mac.The new versions are expected to come at at some point. I am plan to get the most recent versions of these programs when they become available.My question is, do I need to uninstall the previous versions before I install the lastest ones or can I just install the lastest ones immediately without uninstalling the old versions.If I do need to uninstall old versions what happens when I don't do that? I would like to know what happens to the old version after I install the newest version.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.Â
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".Â
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:Â
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - failÂ
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

I have a problem with SOME of my albums in itunes. Some of them ( aprox 20%) are displaying the sogns within an album in an alphabetical order. I do not have "track" in the column header selected. I have tried selecting "track #"but this does not rectify the track names into the original album order. I can not manually enter the track number either in the "track #" field to manually rectify this as iTunes does not allow you do this. It is really frustrating that I have to listen to some of my albums in alpabetical song name order rather than the order the artist wanted me to. I've got a whole lot of music, 45 days worth, and I view it by date added and want to keep it that way for a number of reasons.
Problem is, when I want to play an album I have to click on the first track, then switch to album (or artist) display by the end of that track.
The other day I added an album by dragging it into iTunes in the Finder. I noticed that I could start and stop and advance and rewind tracks and it would go in order, from first to last track, even in Date Added mode, so it was visually moving up and down instead of from top to bottom.
Is there secretly a way to view in Date Added but have the next track be the next track on that album? Besides dragging the tracks into iTunes from the Finder I mean.
If anyone has a way to do this, it would seriously improve my life and I would be infinitely grateful.
I downloaded a .dmg from this website [URL] and it opened up the apple installer, claimed the instal was succesful, program titled Mac Cinema, but i can't find it in the applications, and don't see it when i search spotlight.

View 8 Replies View RelatedBought a new Macbook Pro 2.8 a few days ago (newest one with longer battery), it shipped with Snow Leopard. However, I believe the Hardware is still the same as before Snow Leopard was released, so it should work with Leopard 10.5.
If I try to use a Leopard disc it just doesn't boot, or it comes up with a kernel panic. I even installed Leopard on my 2.5" in my Mac Pro first, then tried booting it on the macbook pro. Same thing, kernel panic. Have they added some kind of lock to the hardware that stops Leopard from being loaded? I thought they would only do that when new hardware is released.
I can't find the fontbook application that comes with every mac.
It's really frustrating and I really need it.
Is there any way to get it back?

Mail then opens with the Link included and I then email it to whoever I want. Since yesterday however I noticed that I can no longer do this. Whenever I want to mail a Link I get the following message: "An email message can�t be created to send the Link because Safari can�t find an email application" I tried a restart of the computer, I reset Safari but nothing helps. The problem persists. I checked with Firefox and here I have no problem to mail Links. Only Safari does not seem to be able to recognize that Mail is installed or cannot connect to Mail?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Back on the "other" computer there was an area that all web pages and videos were stored. We could get in there and copy out an item if we needed. I used to know where it was in Leapord but now in Lion I can't find the application support and cache for Sfari or Chrome. I need to look for something in the cache.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to share my experiences with my new MacBook Air 13" (2010) 1.86 GHz, 4GB memory, 128GB flash storage. I got my machine a week ago. Booted it up and installed all the Apple updates.
I then synced all my MobileMe stuff, and installed Evernote, Chrome, TextMate and the Flash plug-in. Everything worked flawlessly for 5 days and then I had a kernel panic a couple of minutes after waking from sleep. I got the message that told me to hold the power button to force a restart.
After that I got consistent error messages and program crashes when waking from sleep or when quitting applications - iTunes, Mail.app, Flash plug-in, Evernote, and Safari all seemed affected. Even creating a new user account yielded the same results. Tried repairing permissions, resetting SMC, and PRAM but no change.
I reinstalled the OS last night and so far I haven't had any problems. Ran memory tests, CPU load test, and GPU load tests and nothing seems to force an error. So, I current thinking is that the originally installed OS had some installation issues from the factory or I have an elusive hardware issue.
If anyone has any experience or thoughts, I'd love to hear them. That said, I figured I'd share in case anyone else was having similar issues.
