I have lost the password/serial number info for my application software and want to move them to my new MacBook Pro laptop. If I just copy the application files across, they don't work.

For example if anyone is familiar with Compiz or Beryl you can use control+alt+shift+directional key to move an application to a new space without using the mouse or the mode where you can see all the spaces at ounce.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter moving Mobile Me to iCloud, I am having 2 problems with the Mail application. On my Laptop running Lion, I'm not able to send email using my ".me" account. Error message says "connections to the server 'p99-smtp.mail.me.com' on the default ports timed out." The incoming mail server is now showing "p99-imap.mail.me.com." I do appear to be receiving mail to my .me accounts. On my Power PC G5 (running OSX 10.5.8) I am no longer receiving mail from my .me account.

I downloaded a .dmg from this website [URL] and it opened up the apple installer, claimed the instal was succesful, program titled Mac Cinema, but i can't find it in the applications, and don't see it when i search spotlight.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever I want to mail a Link to an Internet page, I click on "File" and then choose "mail Link to this page". Mail then opens with the Link included and I then email it to whoever I want. Since yesterday however I noticed that I can no longer do this. Whenever I want to mail a Link I get the following message: "An email message can�t be created to send the Link because Safari can�t find an email application" I tried a restart of the computer, I reset Safari but nothing helps. The problem persists. I checked with Firefox and here I have no problem to mail Links. Only Safari does not seem to be able to recognize that Mail is installed or cannot connect to Mail?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Back on the "other" computer there was an area that all web pages and videos were stored. We could get in there and copy out an item if we needed. I used to know where it was in Leapord but now in Lion I can't find the application support and cache for Sfari or Chrome. I need to look for something in the cache.Â

I have two WD 640gigs and the stock WD 500, and I am having trouble deciding on the the optimum configuration. I am open to suggestions. I use my computer for general use as well as for my video editing and graphic design hobbies if that info helps.
I am curious as to the benefits of of the following:
Drive 1 (640)
partition 1: 150gig for OS
partition 2: Bootcamp
remainder: Offline storage
Drive 2 (640)
partition 1: Applications
remainder: music/photos
(scratch disk here?)
Drive 3: (500)
Time machine
Would there be a noticeable benefit to having the applications being separate from the OS boot drive? What if anything else should be split across multiple HDs to increase speed? I've heard of moving the swap file from elsewhere on the forum but I am not sure as to what exactly that is nor the benefits of doing it.
My final question(s) is how exactly I could go by moving my application folder to another drive separate from the OS drive? Just drag and drop? What is this deal with making an alias?

Having trouble accessing the App Store. I don't have the App Store Icon in my dock nor can I find it in the applications folder. I tried installing the Lion 10.7.3 update. I managed to delete all the addresses from all computers by deleting them in iCloud. When I try to find the address book files in Library>application support, it is not there. I can't even find the library folder under users>username either. Where do I find the proper folder to restore from time machine?

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

I have a PowerBook G4 running OS X. I'm trying to transfer a very large chunk of data (roughly 40 gigs or so) from my Mac to my PC (I need to sell my Mac, so I'm trying to empty it). Fortunately, most of the files can be read by both platforms, so I don't need to convert any data, just move it. Any suggestions on how this could be done? I've thought of burning everything on to DVDs and moving them that way, but I'm wondering if there's another way.
