when i download an application i get the message to choose the location which is the macintosh hard drive ( i cant figure out how to select something else) and after it has completed the download i cannot locate where the new file / application is. I have downloaded twice and do not see it.

My question is that I downloaded some widgets today for the desktop like "The Weather Channel" one. When it finished downloaded, it appeared on the desktop as two files a zip file and another file. I then had to click on it to run it but in the end I had to move the zip file to the trash after I was done installing it. Is that normal. Should there be two files each time. Do I need to turn on/off a setting.
Also happened when I clicked on a video to watch, I was streaming it but when I flashed to my desktop it downloaded it also. Is this normal.
Back on the "other" computer there was an area that all web pages and videos were stored. We could get in there and copy out an item if we needed. I used to know where it was in Leapord but now in Lion I can't find the application support and cache for Sfari or Chrome. I need to look for something in the cache.Â

Having trouble accessing the App Store. I don't have the App Store Icon in my dock nor can I find it in the applications folder. I tried installing the Lion 10.7.3 update. I managed to delete all the addresses from all computers by deleting them in iCloud. When I try to find the address book files in Library>application support, it is not there. Ive recently downloaded a trail for the download accelerator DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) to speed up the download of a world of warcraft patch. Unfortunately, I had to delete this program when I realized that this was causing my computer to overheat due to pushing my computer's abilities through the roof. My computer has not been damaged in anyway, and i have "deleted" the program but when i still continue to try to download something it says that "DAP Plugin cannot find Download accelerator plus"; even thuogh i just deleted everything. so then i try to delete the plugin, but my mac says that "this item cannot be deleted when it is in use" but it really is not.
Can any of you help me to try to delete this plugin so i can start downloading again. After several attempts and techniques I STILL am not able to download anythinh

Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.

The first batch of videos was copied to an external drive from a Windows PC with MacDrive installed. When I came back to my Mac, I plugged the external drive into my Mac and moved those files to my hard drive.The second batch was copied using Connect to Server command right from my Mac.The funny thing is Final Cut Pro cannot recognize the first batch of videos.So I took a look at the file permissions using Terminal. All of the videos in the first batch have a file permission of -rwxr-xr-x@ but the others have -rwxr-xr-x. I tried to do a chmod 755 on every video file, but the @ sign still wouldn't go away.
