View 2 RepliesI just installed SL, and afterwards went into the Optional Installs. It seems possible to "upgrade" some Mac programs like iCal, Mail and so on. I tried it out on adressbook, but after a successful "upgrade" it told me I had possibly installed older software. What went wrong? Did I install an older version of addressbook, or did I install the same as Snow Leopard did? Or did nothing happen at all?

I bought the airport card (product number 630-2883/C) recommended for my model number. i was able to take apart the machine to find the slot I was supposed to insert the card into, but the width of the empty slot is just a tad to narrow; and I don't know why I can't insert the airport card when I bought the recommended version.

This is the first time i reinstalled(clean install) my snow leopard on my MBP. All went fine but then i inserted the disc for bundled application (which contains the ilife apps) but it keeps failing.
It says that "the installation failed. the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufacturer for assistance".
I've also done my research on this matter. I've gone thru a few steps i tried as below without success:
1)normal install - fail
2)repair permission - fail
3)install in safe mode - fail
4) install using another admin acc - fail
5) made an image out of the disc and install - fail
6) used a similar disc(my dad's since we have identical version) - fai
7)updated my system and install - fail
8) reinstall the mac - fail
i cant think of any other solution as im a bit noob when it comes to mac. is there any other things i could try before taking it Apple?

That being said, I currently have Adobe CS4 Design Premium and Microsoft office 2008 and itunes. Would I have to unlicense the programs and deauthorize my account before the clean install to make sure that i wouldn't lose the licenses and the authorizations.
View 7 Replies View RelatedGarageband is not installing on my os x lion 10.7.3 it downloaded to mac mini just fine now it wont install everytime I click on the Garageband icon in launchpad it trys to download other parts of the program. I let it download 4 different times all the same size download and it is always the same. The program wont run.

I have other family members on mac but I do not want certain programs to be loaded to other profiles. I do not want parental controls. I have read they need to be added to my specific user folder but I cannot see anything but one applications folder in Finder.

Setting Up the Path:
Once installed, you will need to add /usr/brlcad/bin to your system
PATH. For Bourne shell users, you can run the following:
PATH=/usr/brlcad/bin:$PATH ; export PATH
For C shell users, this should do the same thing:
set path=( /usr/brlcad/bin $path ) ; rehash
I plan to do a clean install for SL, and was wondering if I could simply drag my applications onto a flash drive or DVD and then retrieve them once in SL. For example could I just drag the iWork and MS Office 2008 folders onto a flash drive or DVD, do the clean install, then drag them back into my Application folder?

I've been trying to install and use BootCamp from Apple, so I can use Visual Basic for my classes. Obviously, I need Windows for this. Anyway, i downloaded BootCamp, installed it, and then Windows XP. After this I was told to insert my OSX disc to get the drivers. Well nothing happened at all. I suppose because this install of Leopard didn't include BC, it was a seperate download.I then read that BC Assistant should give me the option to burn a drivers disc. I looked at the provided screenshots, and right where the button should have been, there was nothing.

Is it possible to buy a new hard drive, put it in an external USB 2.0 enclosure, then install OS X on it using the discs that came with my destroyed MBP in a different Mac, then put the hard drive into the squished computer and have it use that hard drive as its startup disk? The motherboard on the squished computer is fine, I just can't install OS X on it because it has a broken superdrive.

If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? He gave it to me with a fresh install of Leopard on it, but he unfortunately no longer has the disc that came with the computer that he also used to format it before handing it to me. With that said, I ordered a new internal hard drive. Naturally, I'll need to re-install Leopard, but I don't have an install disc anywhere. How is this going to be possible? Or will it not be? Do I have to buy a new Leopard install disc? If so where and how much?
