About every 10 days or so when I boot up ITunes, it reverts to a Generic Library. In other words, it boots up as a new copy of ITunes, with my library, settings, Genius settings, etc., gone. Fortunately, I backup my computer regularly and am able to restore my Itunes library from backup, but it is annoying to have to do this. I am running Windows 7, with ITunes version 10.

I'm currently using iTunes 10.6.1 (7) and have 98,000 music files (over 600 GB). My iTunes library is set to my local disk but the large majority of my media files are stored on an external hard drive. In iTunes, when I click on "Get Info" and attempt to change the tag info on a file stored on the external hard drive, it reverts back to the original track info as soon as the track is played and doesn't save any of the changes I made to the tag. However, if I change the tag info on a file stored on the local disk, the changes are saved with no problem. I am not interested in storing my iTunes library on my local disk and need to be able to edit the files on the external drive without having to move them back and forth.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI moved my iTunes media folder to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMac's hard drive. The new one is located on a hard drive attached to my Airport Express. Since then, I keep getting messages stating that certain items weren't copied to my iPhone because the originals couldn't be found. When I check, the iTunes media folder has reverted to the location on my iMac's main hard drive.
How can I prevent this? At best this is annoying, but it also is using up hard drive space unnecessarily. Is this behavior avoidable, or is it something that goes with the territory when you move your media folder to an external hard drive?

I have moved ALL my iTunes content (music, videos etc) to the Shared Music folder on my new WD MyBook World Edition 2 (just in case that's relevant info) and everytime my Mac attempts to load iTunes I have to repeatedly direct it to the library.xml file in the Shared Music folder.Surely there's a proper solution for this? Anyone else out there had this experience and has figured it out.I've noticed that it does this only the first time I open iTunes up, any subsequent bootup within a session is fine, but any restart of my Macbook Pro and I have to repeat this.

Whenever I restart my system my sidebar icons revert to a generic white icon. Not all of them do it, and its not always the same ones. They flip flop for no reason. One time my picture icon will be generic, the next time I restart my picture icon is fine but my music icon is generic.
Anyone know why this happens? It never happened on my previous machines running the same version of OSX. 10.6.4
I used candybar to replace icons and its never been a problem in the past. I've even manually replaced the icons in finder and it still happens.
The icons in question are on my second drive, not my boot drive. Does that have something to do with it? Sometimes if I just click on the generic icon the correct icon will show up, sometimes it wont.
Does anyone have any experience with a non-Apple USB to ethernet adapter on the Macbook Air? They be found on eBay for as little as 3 bucks, and I wonder if it'll be plug-and-play like the OEM adapter, which is $29.

I especially liked how all my photo jpeg icons and quicktime movies would instantly reappear with a photo of itself or the first frame of the movie. Now though, all the icons are appearing generic?!? My Quicktime movies and all my photos are all staying as a generic jpeg icon. Is there a specific problem that causes this.? I have two hard drives and the second drive is still operating normally. But my main drive has ceased converting every icon whenever I open a new window.

First, I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and do not have Time Machine. Secondly, I need to have Safari 3.X on my MBP for work yet I cannot revert back no matter what I have tried. I will admit however that I've only tried the suggestion as outlined at the following link:

View 1 Replies View Related I don't really know how to describe this or even search for it. (I tried the best I know how) The only thing I can do is show a picture. I don't have any idea how this happened or how to fix it. The real Finder icon in the left of the dock does not have the light underneath indiciating that it is running, but there is a generic app icon that is actually the finder and has the normal Finder context menu when I right click it. This icon behaves just like any regular app and I can even right click and quit it. Anyone have any ideas what caused this and how to fix it short of reinstalling Mac OS X? BTW I'm using a 13" Alu MacBook running 10.5.7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I go into Keyboard and Mouse in System Preferences, the Keyboard Shortcuts window always warns me that two actions (Input Source ones and Spotlight ones) have the same shortcuts, so I change one of them and quit, but I just get the alert sound and nothing happens. Also, every time I restart, the shortcuts are immediately reverted, so that the two actions have the same shortcut again. I finally solved it by simply installing some updates with Software Update, the most recent ones being Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update, QuickTime, and Security Updates 2008-005 and -007.

Basically during installations, everything is reverting to French, even after switching to English I still get French menus like below. I did at some point have a dual language/keyboard option for English and French but now all French options are entirely unselected in every menu, preference etc..

I have recently purchased a brand new 2.3Ghz Mac Mini to act as a home theatre PC which is connected to my receiver via HDMI & running Plex.In the MAC OSX display settings I have the resolution set to 1080p & then launch Plex to watch my media & everything is fine. The issue is whenever I turn the receiver off (Mac Mini remains on) and then come back to watch my media, the Mac Mini has automatically reverted its resolution to 720p (Plex is still open). For the life of me I can't figure out why this is happening. Mac Mini is set to never sleep, no screen saver or other hibernation like settings are enabled, it's just got me perplexed as to why it's downscaling itself!
