Jun 30, 2009Would a generic Dell keyboard and mouse work using Mac OSX? Can I run Windows through Bootcamp and just plug them in and will they work?

MacBook Pro :: Optical Mouse / (Logitech MX900 & Generic USB)
Jul 21, 2009does anyone currently use a Logitech Bluetooth MX900 (optical) with their MBP? I can configure the buttons fine, have no connection issues etc. But the pointer movement is quite jerky. It seems acceptable when swinging it about the screen. But when trying to do accurate tasks like click on a small button, it feels as if it is dragging. I have the tracking speed almost maxed out but reducing it doesn't really affect the dragging sensation, although it does smooth out the jerky movement. I've tried another cheap USB optical mouse but it's the same, jerky situation. I also tried a mouse mat but this hasn't helped either.
I'm assuming this is to do with lack of Logitech OS X support - The mouse works flawlessly under windows, however I think I remember a similar issue with Ubuntu. I'm baffled why the generic USB mouse was no different tho!? Is this just general OS X mouse acceleration?

Jan 5, 2010I just got a generic usb keyboard to use with my mbp as schoolwork is taking its toll on the keys and I wouldn't mind preserving it a little better.
This keyboard is the dynex from bbuy that's labeled in windows crap but was cheap and works fine on the mac. Unfortunately, everytime the mbp comes out of sleep, the keyboard is unresponsive and i have to set it up again in settings.
Just hoping there's a simple fix and that it's not terminal

Oct 7, 2009I wanted a new wireless keyboard and mouse for my MBP, and was wondering if any ol' wireless thing will work with it - you know the gig, receiver which plus into USB, with the kb and mouse connecting to it. Cause i cant be bothered to pay like 50 quid for a wireless apple keyboard, i was wondering if any of these cheap ones you see (liek this, for example now i know the function buttons may not work, but i dont care. Can anyone tell me if something liek this would work, or would it have to be mac made? Like say 'mac compatible' or whatever... but i thought they might not put mac compatible on a keyboard like that cause not all the functions on it will work.

Mar 26, 2009 really really need your help people!!!so i started up my computer today and the keyboard and mouse wont work. tried all the remedies to make them work and some have said reinstalling mac os dvd's solved the problem..... however without any keyboard or mouse how do install them?i put the os dvd in the computer but i cant click or do anything to make it start so how i do install the os dvd's in this case..... and oh btw... even in safe mode the keyboard neither the mouse work....
i have a 20" imac desktop that is about a year old if it helps and im using a wired mouse and keyboard.

May 3, 2010the spec says 10.4-10.5, so I am not sure if this will work seamlessly with macs latest OS. I called up MS customer service, but was not helpful.If not, can anyone suggest similar products, which will work with both windows and mac.

Jul 2, 2012Just returned from a week on the road. First attempt at bootup and mouse would not respond nor keyboard input anything. I have tried zapping pram, booting from the Lion disk, starting with option key, command R, starting as Target firewire disk. In all cases the keyboard works until Lion boots up. As firewire disk will not appear on MacBook Pro desktop but does have firewire image on the MacPro screen. System profiler shows unknown disk in firewire tab and correctly identifys 800 vs 400 FW. So I have to figure this is a Lion issue.

Dec 20, 2010I bought a generic non bluetooth apple keyboard (one of the newer models with the aluminium finish on the top) to connect to my 17" macbook pro (2010 issue if that means anything) it looks great, feels even better but I've got one major beef with it, it cannot register more than 3 key presses at once like the macbook pro keyboards or any other normal run of the mill generic keyboard can.. Has anybody ever come across this or does anyone know how to fix it?

Feb 27, 2009I have a unibook macbook that I wanted to get a wireless keyboard and mouse for. I love the design of the wireless keyboard so I got that one, but I got the Microsoft bluetooth 5000 mouse instead of the mighty mouse due to a few of the poor reviews floating around.
Anyways, so they both arrived today and I set them up, but I am having the most aggravating problem. When they are both connected at the same time, the mouse is jerky, slow to respond and generally irritating to use due to its sloppy and jerky movement. I ran through lots of troubleshooting steps..
Using the latest MSFT drivers for the mouse=no help
using steermouse = no help
But then things got really weird, so the mouse works PERFECTLY if I disconnect the wireless keyboard from the mac. Not turn it off, just disconnected. So I installed both on another machine thinking that maybe its a bluetooth bandwidth issue, nope, both devices work perfectly on a vista machine. So I grabbed another older bluetooth mouse and paired that with the keyboard on the macbook, THAT mouse works perfectly.
So basically, every other single combination (mouse but no keyboard on the mac, older bluetooth mouse and keyboard on the mac, mouse and keyboard on the vista machine) work except for the one configuration I want (keyboard and new mouse on the macbook).
Software is up to date on the macbook as well. I am about to tear my hair out. My first instinct is just that the drivers are bad on the MSFT mouse for OSX, but remember it works perfectly on the macbook if the keyboard is not connected at the same time, (yet its not a bluetooth bandwidth issue bc it works perfectly with the keyboard on teh vista machine).
Windows On Mac :: XP Install On Bootcamp - Keyboard And Mouse Won't Work?
Aug 22, 2010Having a VERY strange issue with my new 27" iMac. I've tried installing XP twice now and everything works fine through the installation and after XP boot initially without any Apple drivers. Keyboard (wired) and my Magic Mouse work just fine.
Then I install the Apple drivers and after a restart XP does not recognize and keyboard/mouse. Even if I hook up a standard USB windows keyboard and wired mouse, nothing. Booting into Mac OS everything works fine, but nothing in XP, including safe mode.

Jun 4, 2012iMac starts up as normal. Once it is on desktop, will not open anything. Have new snow leopard to install, put disk in and it pops up on desktop, however just like anything else I cannot click or open it. I have unplugged, restarted, used command-option-escape( which does bring up "Force quit" box, but again I cannot click open or select anything.

Jul 26, 2008I have a PowerMac Dual G4 @ 500mhz that has issue with waking up from sleep. Running Tiger 10.4.11 with a fresh install of it on there. 512mb memory populating all 4 slots. I've verified permission, verified the HDD via disk utility. I've also run MacOSXmemtest that I purchased and that came up clean. I've also reset the PMU. When I wake the computer up from sleep it will usually wake up to a display and then the mouse and keyboard work momentarily (USB MS keyboard and Logitech Mouse) and then I'll get the beachball of death. The mouse and keyboard will then stop responding completely. I have to manually restart the computer but it seems to work great if it doesn't go into sleep.

Sep 17, 2009My friend just got a 1.25GHz MDD but he says he is having problems with it. He says that when he starts it up, his mouse light (sensor) flickers and the keyboard does not work. The only way to fix this is to unplug and replug in the peripherals. He also tried on his Studio Display connected via ADC and the same thing happens. Could a PCI USB card help his problems or is there some way to fix the current USB ports?

Nov 13, 2009So my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.

Oct 25, 2009Recently I bought a new mouse, I was overexcited and plugged it in, and there was a pop up saying there was a new keyboard but I clicked "Contine" this mouse doesn't work at all now, I thought it doesn't support mac at all! I searched about it on the net, they said that when they got that same pop up, they click "x" at the top left corner, you now, exits the pop up and got to use the mouse immediately. I tried it at my dad's laptop, got the same pop up but instead of clicking continue, I clicked "X" The mouse Works. So now I think this mouse is recognized as a keyboard on mine.

May 12, 2012Moisture built up inside closed laptop. Screen came up when opened. Keyboard unresponsive... And computer is "searching" for keyboard or bluetooth device. After 5 or so minutes screen went blank. Don't know if it's in sleep mode or just out.

MacBook :: Bluetooth - Keyboard & Mouse Disconnects?
Oct 22, 2009I've found many different explanations to why bluetooth on my Macbook would 'overheat' and then disconnect from all devices, only to show 'Bluetooth Not Responding'.
I was wondering if anyone has found a fix to this problem. I'm current on all updates running Snow Leopard. Normally, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse works for up to 5 minutes or so, but then loses its connection until it 'cools down' and then this process just repeats. The laptop is currently on a cooling fan and rarely needs the internal fan to even kick on so not sure what else to do.
