Hardware :: Apple Quietly Refreshes IMac Line (3.06GHz)
Apr 27, 2008
Today I ordered my new iMac 24" 2.4ghz with 2gb of ram and got the wireless keyboard and mouse. I am wondering if apple updates the iMacs can I send mine in becuase I probably won't get mine for 3-5 days and the updates would come on Tuesday. If I can send it I'm what do I have to do and how can I do it. Also if they changes the ram to 2gb standard do I get 100 back because I updated it. Apple updated it to the new imacs at no aditional cost, I now got this: 24" imac 2.8ghz, 2gb ram, 320gb hdd, 256mb ati graphics card and wireless keyboard and mouse. Also from amazon for 200 dollars less than what apple charges i got the logitech z-5500 digital 5.1 surround sound speakers.
Apple this week is reported to be testing the first internal builds of Mac OS X 10.5.8, one of the final updates, if not the last, slated for its current Leopard operating system software.News of this particular maintenance update is significant for owners of PowerPC-based Macs, given that Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard requires a Mac with an Intel processor. That means Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.5.9 will likely represent Apple's final push towards solidify and stabilize Leopard before shifting the majority of its resources towards the first point release of Snow Leopard, which will arrive this fall.
OS 10.4.11 iMac G5. The finder "refreshes" every minute or so closing all its open windows. It stops any finder activity during this "refresh." For example, copying a file to another disk--it will interrupt the process. It does leave application windows open but leaves the program to go to back to the finder. It does not matter if I am actively using the applications or not. I have been interrupted during this post several times already.
Im very confused for this decide Im usually using iMac for Photosop, Flash, and After Effects... Tell me which one I choose for this programs?Old iMac 24-inch 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 DuNVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory
I am obviously not using the correct search terms to find this info, but I want to upgrade my iMacs RAM. The system I have is a refurb 21.5 iMac with 3.06 GHz dual core processor. I want to go from the current 4Gig to 8Gig. Everytime I check the different sites for their online memory guides, I see the 3.06 Intel in the 24" but not in the 21.5. Are they the same? I just want to order the right memory the first time.
Im looking to purchase a 4GB stick of ram for my Late 2009 27 iMac 3.06Ghz. I know it requires PC-3-8500 204-Pin DDR3-1066MHZ Small -- does anyone know of a good place online (or otherwise) that sells this for cheap? I DID find one online site, that would sell is for $77.30 USD... and that doesnt include any DUTY fee's if any would apply.
I'm looking to buy a new Imac 21.5 inch but I'm undecided on whether to go for the 3.06 Ghz base model or the 3.2 Ghz model. I'd be using it for internet, general office work, a little video and quite a lot of photo editing and cataloguing. Possibly a bit of gaming but not much and nothing too intensive. I think 500GB HDD in the base model would be ample storage space for my needs. My main concern is whether it is worth spending the extra ?250 essentially for the 5670 GPU with more graphics memory in the 3.2Ghz model over the 4670 GPU in the base model. I'm hoping to get around 4 years usage out of the machine before I start looking to upgrade. Would it be worth spending the extra for more graphics power or would I be better off buying the base model and possibly adding extra memory?
I have a 3.06Ghz 24in imac. Safari crashes a lot. Don't know what to do. I've reset Safari several times, and downloaded Safari 4 in order to uninstall and reinstall a new Safari 3. Safari version is 3.2.1. I've reset pram, restarted, and verified permissions several times over. Crashes happen almost exclusively when multiple windows are open. Other than that, I really am not sure of a pattern. Also, the restore tabs from last browsing session rare restores everything. I guess it's a buggy feature.
I have all the latest updates, and had XP installed until like 2 hours ago. I got a copy of Windows 7 Pro through my school and tried installing it.
I get passed the beginning Windows is loading files screen, then it freezes at the "Starting Windows" screen.
I don't understand how it can be my cd when I can do the beginning phase and boot to it, but I can't ever even begin to install because it freezes at the Starting Windows screen.
I have installed 32-bit XP numerous times, 64-bit and 32-bit vista... so what is the deal? Why isn't this working..
When I start/restart my mac os x 10.5.5 (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM) the desktop refreshes several times before going back to the pale blue screen and then refreshing a final time. The mouse is then sluggish and/or jumps sporadically.
I am really annoying that my Mac refreshes finder itself every 2min. when I open folders, windows close automatically. also, if I transfer data, mac quit transferring too. It happened since a week ago.
I just found out that I will be able to order a whole bunch of stuff in October for my office from a Grant our school got. (I know, its a way off), and I want to get some info on possible hardware refreshes. Here is what I'm looking to get. Mac Pro 2 x 24" LED ACD 17" MacBook Pro
I just received a new Mac Pro a few days ago from our last fiscal year, which was the 2 x 2.88ghz Quad Core version. Can I expect a new refresh before October on the current specs? The 17" MacBook Pro that is currently out will do perfect for what I am going to use it for, but I don't want to put in a spec sheet if it will 'possibly' change before Oct. I don't need to hear the normal stuff, that if I need a notebook now, get one etc. I have a perfectly fine 15" MBP, this is more for a order that is still somewhat off.
I had a bit of a dispraxic moment the other day and meant to do one keystroke but ended up doing another (I work on both the old- and new-style (aluminum) keyboards and sometimes misjudge where the keys are). Anyway, God knows what I've done but now, when I move my mouse around the screen, the desktop moves. If the cursor is in the middle of the screen, all is well, but as I move out towards the edges, the desktop moves by about 10 pixels in that direction. At first I thought it might be an issue with the settings on the monitor but I've logged onto that machine remotely this morning and it's still doing it - the frustrating thing being that now the whole screen refreshes every time I move the mouse.
In Windows MS Outlook, while creating a numbered list, I just used shift+enter to enter one or more lines within the same number and then only hit enter once I needed a new number. In this way, I could have many paragraphs within the same number and also blank lines between two numbers. But it doesn't work in Apple mail or Entourage.
I have been waiting for arendale (or however you spell it) and I just can't seem to make myself wait any longer so my question is should I get the current 15" 3.06Ghz or wait..And another question what would be the difference in the 3.06 and the 2.8Ghz?Just really tired of waiting but I don't want my new mbp to be "old" in a week or so when the new ones come out I dunno.. maybe I'm chasing Technology here but I would really like an i5 or i7 chip
So I got an iPad and have been thinking more and more that I don't need the portability of the MBP anymore. Truth is I have not really used the Macbook as a laptop in months. My usage is primarily Internet, word processing, and photography so I really think I can benefit from the added screen size and potentially power of a 27 inch iMac. So my question is:
1) do you think the latest 3.06GHz C2D will be a performance increase from my current MBP for Aperture 3 or should I just spend the extra for the 2.66 i5?
I have given up gaming and want to focus on large photoshop art pieces (raster, poster size printable). I want smooth, lag-free performance and I tend to lean away from all-in-ones like the iMac so was going to get a 6 core Mac Pro. That said, I likely do not need the expandability of the Mac Pro but I am willing to pay a bit of a premium to ensure the best long term experience. I'm just not sure there is a solid benefit for the extra cost of the Pro. I'm also somewhat clueless about and dubious of the idea of laptop processors in the iMac. I've read some of the posts about iMac vs MacPro before but now with the upgrades to the iMac and the MacPro announcements I was hoping some of you could provide some solid advice on which route I should take.
Alright, this is really annoying. I've been trying to record myself playing music on imovie to show people, but my line in won't pick up any sound! I've tried system prefrences>sound>line in and turning it all the way up and I've tried Utilities>Audio MIDI>Line In and turning that all the way up. I've tried everything I could think of and NOTHING is happening!
Double poll here. There are two questions: How much DATA do you have Oo-line?
This is data and not total capacity. This includes all your on-line data: music, images, video, the OS, all of it. It doesn't include back-up data even if it's on-line like Time Machine tho. Just active data.
And of the on-line storage devices used for that DATA totally, what % are they filled to?
For example if you had two 500 GB drives and about 400 GB of data you would answer: "I have < 500 GB of DATA on-line." and,"My on-line storage is between 25% and 50% full.".
i'm having some issues recording in garage band which should hopefully be easy to clear up. i record an instrumental track into garage band through the line-in jack in the back. the track shows up in garage band just fine and plays, but i'm running into trouble recording while that track is playing. i plug my headphones in so i can try to hear the track while i am recording vocals, but i am unable to hear the track. i checked the inputs/outputs in system preferences and output is set to headphones, microphone is set to line in. so i'm not too sure what it could be.
I bought my Imac at the beginning of '06 and it's been great but today a small white line appeared running vertically all the way down the screen and over the dock and menu bar. it's white during boot up and then yellow after everything is loaded..does anybody have an idea what this is or how to fix it?
