In Windows MS Outlook, while creating a numbered list, I just used shift+enter to enter one or more lines within the same number and then only hit enter once I needed a new number. In this way, I could have many paragraphs within the same number and also blank lines between two numbers. But it doesn't work in Apple mail or Entourage.
View 2 RepliesI am moving from my exchange server... and use entourage 2008... since i dont have exchange any more theres no need to use the buggy entourage... so in entourage i copied all my folders (mail) from exchange to local.
then i set up apple mail - added all my imap accounts (which are in addition to to my old exchange account).
If apple mail supported exchange i would simply connect to it and move my folders local - but alas its not supported yet - and i cant wait for the update.
so i imported from the import menu (using the entourage option).
It all looked good (i have a lot of mail - so it took several hours).... I clicked on a random message on of the imported folders... its blank... subject, from etc are there in the columns - but the message is blank -- tried another - blank..
Apple Mail has a preference to 'Trust junk mail headers in messages' but I can not find a list of what those headers are.By trial and error I've learned the "X-Spam-Flag: YES" will work (exactly that, no extra info), but I'd like to know what other options there are... particularly if I can send a score/rating back and have it look at that.But I can't find a list of supported headers.The Internet is full of "common spam headers" and yet none of them actually seem to work and lots of people who can't get it working with spamassassin which is incredibly common.

I want to insert numbered equations into pages that are centered with Mathtype. In pages there is only an insert Mathtype Equation command, not a full toolbar with different alignment and numbering options as in Word. There seems to be nowhere within Mathtype itself I can see where I can make the equation centered and numbered. Inside Pages I cant center the equation as the option is greyed out and no visible option for numbering.

dose anyone know where the auto complete list is stored for mac mail?
So i can copy all the email address, ones i have typed into mail, across to my new setup. I have copied the com.apple.mail.plist and the mail folder/mail downloads into the right places. But i when i type a email it doesn't fill out the address for me.
I've tried searching to no avail. When I use Finder, it's in List View.
I vastly preferred the Leopard version of selection in that only the filename was used to select a row.
If you clicked anywhere else it would not select the row and you could easily right-click to add new folders etc.
Snow Leopard did away with this functionality and changed it to a full row select.
Is there any way to go back to the Leopard way of doing things?
Is there a CLI command that will list which apps are using which external harddrives?

View 3 Replies View RelatedUpgraded to ITunes 11.2.2, the latest, using 10.6.8 OS on an Imac and first I noticed no images in my Wishlist. Just a blank screen, with the ability to sort by name ,etc tab.  Now when I do a search for an artist or an album on the store, I get a blank screen also for results, i see the text for showing the options of Aps, Music, Movies, but no images of search results.

A friend recently downloaded 500 messages from her ISP to Mac Mail (4.4) The inbox says she has 500 messages but she can only see around 150 / 200. How can she see that complete list ? I'm trying to convince her to remove those messages off her ISP's server.
If I send a msg from Apple Mail to i.e. Outlook Express. The same msg shows up with "clean" text formating. That will say, no formatting at all. See this screen: [URL:...] I have just gotten back to the Mac now from 10-11 months in hell with Windows-stuf, so I am really eager to get this fixed. I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I have two old hotmail accounts that don't really get much mail these days. I don't want to completely abandon these email addresses so I have them use POP3 in my Apple Mail client (along with my other emails addys). Since hotmail is hardly stable with pop3 I get a lot of connection failed messages. I think it's because Apple Mail is hitting Hotmails servers every 5 mins to check for new mail - I don't need that. Is there a way to have certain email accounts be checked at different times than other accounts - like only once a day for my hotmail and once an hour for my gmail?

There is one thing the web interface provides that I'm not sure how to set up within Apple Mail. In the web interface under Settings --> Accounts, the first section is called "Send mail as:" and allows you to send mail from the interface that uses another email address in the From header. I have it set so that when I receive a message that was sent to one of these other addresses (they all forward to my Gmail address), replies will automatically be sent with that address as the From header. How do I set up this functionality within Apple Mail without creating a separate account/inbox for the other accounts? I am not checking mail directly from the others, just want to be able to send as them.
View 13 Replies View Relatedi was using Apple mail 3.0 successfully on my old MBP which was running Leopard. I used POP to access and use my gmail account. I upgraded to a newer MBP but now am running snow leopard and apple mail 4.0 Unfortunately the migration assistant failed to bring across my data to the new computer and had to do it manually. I was unsuccessful in getting Mail 4.0 to set up a POP account for gmail as I had done with the older operating system's version of Mail.
I was successful with setting up IMAP (which i like less for specific reasons that I wont go into). However, even with following gmail's on line instructions, the sending of mails is temperamental. Sometimes emails get send, but almost always they sit in the "outbox" for minutes or hours, and it seems to be quite random as to when the emails are successfully sent. I cannot understand this. Usually the sending fails several times where it gives me the option to "try again" which I usually chose. I have SSL checked and am using port 933. I am using smpt.gmail.com:username@gmail.com has anybody else had similar difficulties and were they able to overcome them

I just replaced my wireless keyboard with a wired one that had a number pad and extra F keys (F13 - F19). Im trying to make these F keys shortcuts for opening applications. Ive used the obvious "application shortcuts" in the keyboard control menu, but it doesnt seem to do anything.Â

Some people have very large accounts and we keep getting the error 143 time out message. Unless i sit there for hours and keep pressing the "Get Mail" button.
Is there a way around this and why does it keep timing out?
When I open apple mail it seems to load fine but now my trash icon for apple mail is gone. Is there any way to get this back?
