Desktops :: Upgrade HD To A Bigger One On A EMac 700 MHz
Aug 19, 2009
I have an eMac 700 MHz with OS X 10.3.9
My original HD (40 G) is almost max out and I would like to upgrade to a big HD. : Type of HD I need?; What is the biggest it permits?; and How would I do it, without loosing data.?
I found some discussions here re: using Leopard OS with eMacs. Anyone know if Snow Leopard will run on a 1G eMac? I have Family Pack OS installation disks for 10.5.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6
I changed from at&t to comcast and I have had so many problems with emailing. I finally got comcast to get me to atleast be able to read my email but I can't reply to any emails. My operation system is a Mac OS X 10.3. My apple system correlates to M8951LL/A specs. I think that comcast only supports OS X 10.4 and higher, mine is a 10.3. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to a 10.4 with a computer this old? Â
I tried to download Lion and Tiger but both of those require 10.4 minimum. Bottom line does anyone know first if it is possible to upgrade to a 10.4 with my emac and if so how?Â
Info: emac 900 1 ghz, Mac OS X (10.3.x), M8951LL/A apple system
after going to the apple store, a store tech said they no longer had tiger for ppc emacs.. and to go to ebay that they had plenty.
well i cant seem to find tiger 10.4 but i have found leopard.
i know there is no difference between the ppc and the intel as both versions come on the disk but my question is is there a difference between the macbook and the emac ver.
this is the version i found.. for macbook Mac OS Leopard version 10.5.4 AHT version 3A152 Disk version: 1.2 2Z691-6311-A
Will this work in a emac its a restore disk so im thinking it should..
I have an eMac and it is very slow so I was looking at upgrading some of the parts. I know I can fit in new RAM but is it possible to get and install a new faster processor?
A few days ago I finally upgraded my iMac G4 (Flatpanel) from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11. I had not printed or scanned anything since then, but today I needed to do both, and they don't work. I think it has something to do with the upgrade because they were working just fine before that.
The printer is an Epson Stylus 777i
The Scanner is an Epson Perfection 640U
What could have changed, and how can I get my Mac and peripherals to work together again?
I have found disks that say "media only" for really cheap and I realize those aren't licenses but since the eMac has Tiger wouldn't it already have an OSX license? Links to products would be nice if possible.
I have tried to migrate hardrive content from the emac to our imac with no luck. We still need to get eveything off the emac. What is the best way to do this? Take the hard drive out and then what?
We have a macbook in the same situation if you can answer that one too.Â
Has anyone run a 20 or 23" display with the Air? Ok? Closed or open case? Wireless keyboard and mouse, too?
And, general impressions about running photo programs like PS, Elements, Aperture (not video, I think I know the answer to that, but correct me...).
In other words, where does the Air hit the wall for reasonably fast digital photo work? 1.6 or is 1.8 really a difference maker for this?
I have a chance at a cheap Apple 20" alum monitor. If the Air can really handle moderate photo work and run a big screen well, that would give me a nice set-up to be sure.
i have a directory with many sub directories and files. I cant back it up to a dvd without breaking it up, but thats way to alkward. Is there an app that will allow me to just create a backup of the entire directory, over 2 dvds if necessary without requiring me to split the directory in two?
I have a MBP 2.4 SR and windows XP 32bit is installed on Boot Camp... I would like to know if it's possible to resize the OSX partition to make it bigger... Or do I have to uninstall windows and install it again...? Because I really need the space...
Btw, is there a program that can tell me what optional leopard software (printer drivers etc.) are installed?
How would I go about this if I didn't want to do it myself? Could I get someone at the Apple store to do it for me? (if so how much would that set me back)
Also, I'm not too good with hardware and stuff like that, would it be easy to put a new and bigger HD in myself?
I can barely see anything from my chair and couch, and I even have to use the second best solution. With the best solution it just gets too small, so I cant see anything. Is there any way to make everything a little bigger?
I have a MacPro that i use to rip all the dvds I own. I then stream these movies to my Apple TV in the living room. So I have 2 hard drives in 2 out of the 4 HDD bays in the Mac Pro. Drive 1 is my OSX drive with Apps. Drive 2 is a 1TB drive that just stores all the movies. In itunes all the movies are pointed to that 2nd HDD.
I saw a great deal on a 2TB HDD and wanted to use that instead. So I wanted to put that 2TB drive in Bay 3 and copy all the movies from 1TB HDD in Bay 2 to 2TB HDD in Bay 3. Then I will swap the 1TB drive with the 2TB drive and only use that 2TB drive for movies. So now I should have a OSX boot HDD along with a 2TB HDD with movies, and a spare 1TB HDD (used for Time machine later)
The question I want to know is, when I put the 2TB drive in with the exact same movies into Bay 2 will itunes still recognize it? Or will I need point every movie again to the new harddrive?
When I press the volume hard keys the volume indicator pops up on the screen but doesn't move the volume bar any, whether its up or down. It's also showing a circle with a slash below the bar graph which doesn't go away.
Looking to buy a bigger hard drive for my MBP 15" base model (Late 2008) and was wondering what the max is for that particular model? I currently have a 250GB and am running low on space and needing to upgrade. Also if you have any info on the specific specs i need from a HD that would be awesome.
I'm trying to backup two .iso files (5.33GB and 5.05GB respectively) from my MacbookPro running Leopard 10.5.2 on to a Westgate external USB drive. When I try to do that it gives me "error code 0" and it fails to create a copy or transfer the file.
Is there a limit on how big files can I transfer through the mac? Is there a way to get around this?
I've tried split, but then how do I concatenate the split files together to get the original? I tried "cat" on .bz2 files and I can't get to replicate the correct original to (when I unzip it the unzipping process stops midway with an error).
I was able to concatenate 2 out of 3 parts of the 5.33GB files and the .iso opens up on diskmount but then when I try to concatenate the 3rd part it compains that the file is too big. So I'm stuck
I have a Macbook pro 2010, Lion OS. It has been working good until I conected the computer to a TV. I´m conecting my computer, frecuently, to some televisions. The last time I did that the configuration of my screen changed a little bit. The screen looks bigger than my display and I can´t see the hole screen at the same time, I have to move the arrow with the trackpad in order to see some corner of the computer. I tried to fixed going to the display preferences
Info:MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
Im creating a Pyramid graph. Im using Microsoft word for macs. I can't seem to enlarge my final product to fit page size. adding a second smart graph (circular arrows). I need the pyramid to be the background and insert the arrows within the pyramid without interfering with the text.
Im trying to help my mum set up her imac and she has asked me to help make the text bigger on the screen. Ive shown her how to zoom on word/safari/etc, however ideally I want to make all the text on the computer bigger - eg. menus at top of screen, finder text, etc...
The first thing I tried was adjusting the display resolution from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 or 1280x720, but this seemed to make the screen blurry.
Does anyone know if there is any other way that I can help make the text bigger for all system elements?
So I guess when I first set up my Drobo I set it up with a 2TB limit per partition. Now I want to add more drives but maintain one bigger partition and not have to start a new one.Has anyone done this yet and would you be willing to tell me how? I basically want to reformat my Drobo so I can set my limit to 8 or 16 TB limit.Right now my drobo is showing up as two separate 2TB partitions.
