When I press the volume hard keys the volume indicator pops up on the screen but doesn't move the volume bar any, whether its up or down. It's also showing a circle with a slash below the bar graph which doesn't go away.
View 1 RepliesI am having an odd pproblem with a MacBook Pro. When I boot, 95% of the time, the Apple sound will loop continuously and the Notebook will not boot. In every 10 tries, I will have a chance to get the machine to boot up into the OS, and after a little while the Display will start to flash randomly and the machine will freeze. only a force shutdown seems to bring you out the freeze, but then you can't always get back into the OS because of the looping Apple Startup sound.It gets stuck at the exact same moment, right after the apple sound is finished, but loops.. So What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't get stuck at random moments, only just as the apple sound is finished playing, then it plays over, and over and over

When I turn my Mac on it goes through the boot up process and as it about to come to the desktop image it selects the HD Mac as if I had pressed it with the mouse and then starts the cancel sound bonging away until I press the escape button on the keyboard.This normally keeps it at bay. Although on occasion it suddenly selects it again and starts playing the cancel sound again. When I unplug the keyboard it doesn't make that sound at all. I hate the wireless keyboard but wonder if I buy another wired one will it start making the same noise again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHad a quick question. I'm on my third 27" stock 3.06Ghz imac that was replaced yesterday. The good news is that so far it doesn't seem to have any of the problems of my previous two 27" imac's. There is one thing though. A couple of seconds after pressing the power button to bootup there is a brief mechanical sound from the dvd drive like a quick ejecting sound even though there is no cd in the drive. My first 27" imac dvd drive made the sound but the second imac 27" Imac I had didn't. Is this sound normal? Would be curious to know why two out of the three 27" Imac's I had make that noise.

I have a chance at a cheap Apple 20" alum monitor. If the Air can really handle moderate photo work and run a big screen well, that would give me a nice set-up to be sure.

All the tool bars are ways too small. It's painful to read. I know there're ways to work around this problem such as decreasing the screen resolution, or use the Zoom feature. These are only workaround solutions because decreasing screen resolution makes pictures look less sharp, and the Zoom feature is not that fun to have all the times on your screen. It looks like Apple should come up with a permanent fix, as it is clearly not acceptable fix. Hopefully some Genius will come up with an App that offers a better resolution.Â

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a 13 inch macbook pro, and i want to set the screen size bigger than 1280 * 800, to maybe 1600 * 1200 or something. obviously i cant fit more than 1280 * 800 pixels in the 13 inch MBP screen, but I want it to function as kind of a 'cropped' screen - so i'd have to move my trackpad around the corners of the screen to see more of the desktop. i know it will look like crap and be a bit cumbersome, but i don't really care about that. is there any way to do this?
by the way, i don't NEED the ability to use my trackpad to move around the screen. i don't plan on using my MBP like this permanently, this is just for experimental purposes.
The title says it all - getting a 2.4Ghz 13" MBP, 4GB Ram (rarely if ever need more), and thinking of a little boost somewhere over the 500GB 5400RPM drive. $300 for a 128GB SSD is pretty high, especially considering I'll probably max that out far too quickly. Is there any bigger bang for the buck performance upgrade over the Momentus XT?
At this point I wish I just got a MacPro instead, this wouldn't be a question. I have a new 17"uMBP, bought specifically to take advantage of eSATA through the expresscard slot. I do photography and video work. I bought the best possible card, the Sonnet Tempo dual eSATA, to offer highest transfer speed and because it's the newest technology. To accommodate my media I bought a OWC Mercury Elite Al-Pro 2TB RAID 0. It's great. I wish I got the Qx2 RAID 5 but it's a little pricey and expensive to upgrade, but at least it has redundancy. I need to have a reliable backup solution. Drobo is expandable but I've seen so many poor reviews. I could buy another Al-Pro 2TB RAID 0 and connect them both and do a software RAID 1 with them. Or I could buy a cheap 2TB eSATA external and do daily backups. I could also get a dock and fill up drives as needed. Is there really an advantage to mirroring other than if my drive fails in the middle of a job? Wouldn't the software RAID needlessly slow down my system? Even if I did get the Qx2 RAID 5 it is bad to rely on such a system by itself to both store and backup my media or is it in itself a very reliable solution?

The real question I have is that I cloned my hard drive but in disk utility I cant just move my hard drive down extend my space to fill in the empty space for my mac partition. View 4 Replies View RelatedThis started happening randomly earlier tonight, and I haven't managed to find a fix just yet.I was encoding a video file for quite awhile (I don't think that parts important, but I thought I'd include it anyway) and then I tried to play a youtube video. I noticed there was no sound, so I tried to up the volume using the Volume Up key on the keyboard. The volume visualisation appeared on the screen like normal (albeit a bit laggy), but the sound still didn't change, neither did I get the usual 'click' noise you get when you change the volume.I went looking into the sound options in the system prefs. only to find that the Output Sound device was headphones. For a test I plugged in some headphones to see what happened and, low and behold, the Output Sound device changed to the Internal Sound and my speakers were working again, but only with the headphones plugged in.

He claims the original owner installed a new Seagate 7200rpm in the book, and that it mostly happens when loading a web-page on Safari.
Every time I look up "hard drive click" I get the SMS triggered "tink" but this notebook is not in motion and instead makes a "ca-chink".
