Whats a sound enhancer and what in the world does that do? Anyone have an explanation. How does it make it sound "better"? And does it take away from what the sound is "supposed" to sound like?
Who uses it? What does it improve?
I listen to iiTunes a lot while surfing the web. It's very annoying when I come across a website which has it's own music and it suddenly overlaps the music I'm playing on iTunes. Is there anyway to turn off the sound from all other applications while using iTunes?

Next time I booted up my Mac my iTunes was going through all the songs Sound Checking them, I canceled it about 1/3 through. My question is, has iTunes done anything to a third of my music it didn't finish?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been stumped lately as to what in the world is playing a strange sound that i think is a product of Genius. It happens when I:
- Navigate to the iTunes store
- Click on any links in the itunes store, search, account, etc
- when the Genius side bar is out, and tracks change while playing from my Music.
I have gotten it to stop the incessant noise making when tracks change by turning it off and hiding the side bar; but it still makes the noise when i click playlists, my iphone or ipod, other directories, etc.
All my media works well (songs, podcasts, new films), but my collection of old films which I ripped, don't seem to produce any sound. I ripped 2 new films, which produce sound so I am confused why the older films will not. Just installed the new iTunes update this morning.

Anyone know of a sound converter for OSX that can convert old sound files from OS 9?
These are old-school ones that you double-click and they play. The file extension is missing on them, so I'm not sure exactly what they are, but I've had them for ages!
Suddenly, iTunes is not talking to my sound system, either via internal or external speakers. Every other programme or method works, eg I do get sound from YouTube videos etc.

i own a MBP 4.1 for about 4 months now or a little less then that, and i imported music form my pc from cds that i ripped with winamp, also i got some albums i bought online from amazon and stuff, and the sound quality is terrible on itunes it sounds thousand times better on, a stream off youtube. every thing that has base on itunes just buzzes.
my friend bought SRS iWOW and i asked him if i could try it out to see if it would work better it just somehow boosted the voices up but the bass still just buzzes. im really thinking of going back to a pc just for my music. my music is my life and if it is buzzy, my mac has no purpose.
I bought a 5.1 set (a basic one without optical out) and I also bought the Muse pocket lt (usb soundcard) to plug in all my speakers at once. The soundcard is working perfectly but I want audio trough every speaker and not just the 2 front speakers. I wonder if there is a plugin for iTunes or OSX in general that makes the audio goes trough every speaker. It may sound stupit but the main reason I bought 5.1 is because I wanted speakers playing all around my room
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I play songs on my iMac with iTunes, everything sounds tinny and just sad-quality, but not sure why. iTunes is 10.6.1, iMac is 10.6.8, files from iTunes store--when played with Quicktime or other, sound quality MUCH improved with same computer, and even playback on my iPhone is better.

I've recently bought a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 and am really enjoying it. When I'm not using it for recording, I keep it connected to my speakers as it gives a better output than that of the 3.5mm headphone jack (for an aux in to my speakers). I was just wondering if there was any way that I could get only iTunes out of the external sound card so that all my sounds from other apps like Mail and Safari etc. Would come through my Macbook Pro's speakers? I just don't like it when I get the big air rush sound coming through my speakers when an email is sent using Mail, and then other little bleeps from everything else are quite annoying too. I have attached an image of how my sound is currently configured using the Audio MIDI setup.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have checked all sound levels including Audio Midi in utilities. In system preference the output is Digital Optical and nothing else is available to select. It also says this sound output has no controls - is this correct? The sound icon in the menu top right is greyed out and I can't adjust the level. I have an Apple TV and have turned off airplay on that? Also have checked computer speakers (not Apple TV) in iTunes. I had this problem before but rebooting fixed it. My son plays Minecraft on this computer and watches millions of uTube stuff. He may have used his earphones then. Could this be the problem? Nothing is muted in sys pref or utilities audio midi. The chimes work when starting up. The mic sound levels are moving.

I realize that my airtunes can only play sound from my music lib. When I play movies on itunes, airtunes cannot stream it.
so my question is how to make very sound on itunes to be streamed via airtunes. or it would be even better if Airtunes can stream all system sound.
Is there a software could do that?
So I set up my Airport Extreme with my speakers, and its great to have my music and videos play wirelessly... in iTunes! But I can't seem to figure out how to play sound through these speakers in other applications. It doesn't show up as an output source in my Sound preferences and other apps don't seem to let me choose my wireless speakers for sound. What do I need to do?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was playing around iTunes open and everything then suddenly no sound, it was fine before so i checked all my setting everything's fine, checked wiring and power to soundsticks all good. Reboot and the loading alert plays nice and loud as always but log in and still no sound.

It shows that they are running their time but no sound is coming out. The speakers are not on mute, the volume is turned up and I know the speakers aren't blown or anything because I can hear the "bleep's" telling me I am changing the volume up and down.

I have spent a lot of time over the last two years trying to get my itunes library organized as well as getting good digitized versions from my vinyl records as well as CDs. I was pleased with my results and then I added the songs to itunes. I could not believe how inconsistent the sound quality was. Invariably the volume is always lower. [Do not post a reply such as: Check the volume controls in itunes proper as well as in itunes preferences (i.e., Sound Check, Sound Enhancer) & the Volume Adjustment in the Information pane under Options for particular songs.] I tried all of those means of adjusting volume. They do NOT work.Â
There is something more insidious at work in itunes which prevent good sound reproduction. I will give an example. I have played Frankie Valle and the Four Season's song "C'Mon Marianne" on the OS X system sound (i.e. clicking the play button to the song file when selected on the desktop or wherever it resides) as well as in Amadeus Pro. The song sounds great. When I play it when it's in the itunes' library the first part of the song is too lound and then when Frankie Valle starts singing his voice is at a significantly reduced volume.Â
I have edited the foregoing song in Amadeus Pro to a very high volume (i.e., Effects>Amplify), reloaded it into itunes and it still does not inprove the volume of Frankie's voice in the song, even though the rest of the song is somewhat louder. I have played with the Equalizer in itunes to no effect. It just does not work.Â
Now, I would glading move away from itunes and use another media player. However, I have other Apple devices through which I listen to music. And the only way I know of to listen,e.g., on the iphone is through itunes.Â
The other related problem with itune, or should I say iCloud, is icloud match. The icloud Match has taken great sounding music and given me back music of an inferior quality, even though it is a Matched AAC format.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.
