i hope this is the write board but it has to do with audio and im using digital out
i own a MBP 4.1 for about 4 months now or a little less then that, and i imported music form my pc from cds that i ripped with winamp, also i got some albums i bought online from amazon and stuff, and the sound quality is terrible on itunes it sounds thousand times better on, a stream off youtube. every thing that has base on itunes just buzzes.
my friend bought SRS iWOW and i asked him if i could try it out to see if it would work better it just somehow boosted the voices up but the bass still just buzzes. im really thinking of going back to a pc just for my music. my music is my life and if it is buzzy, my mac has no purpose.
When I play songs on my iMac with iTunes, everything sounds tinny and just sad-quality, but not sure why. iTunes is 10.6.1, iMac is 10.6.8, files from iTunes store--when played with Quicktime or other, sound quality MUCH improved with same computer, and even playback on my iPhone is better.

When importing music into iTunes, what is the best quality setting to use?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a high end stereo and the compression through Itunes is obvious and music quality notifibly inferior to CD's. I'm sure that i heard that Apple recognised this and were going to offer a higher (larger file size) alternative through itunes?Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent a lot of time over the last two years trying to get my itunes library organized as well as getting good digitized versions from my vinyl records as well as CDs. I was pleased with my results and then I added the songs to itunes. I could not believe how inconsistent the sound quality was. Invariably the volume is always lower. [Do not post a reply such as: Check the volume controls in itunes proper as well as in itunes preferences (i.e., Sound Check, Sound Enhancer) & the Volume Adjustment in the Information pane under Options for particular songs.] I tried all of those means of adjusting volume. They do NOT work.Â
There is something more insidious at work in itunes which prevent good sound reproduction. I will give an example. I have played Frankie Valle and the Four Season's song "C'Mon Marianne" on the OS X system sound (i.e. clicking the play button to the song file when selected on the desktop or wherever it resides) as well as in Amadeus Pro. The song sounds great. When I play it when it's in the itunes' library the first part of the song is too lound and then when Frankie Valle starts singing his voice is at a significantly reduced volume.Â
I have edited the foregoing song in Amadeus Pro to a very high volume (i.e., Effects>Amplify), reloaded it into itunes and it still does not inprove the volume of Frankie's voice in the song, even though the rest of the song is somewhat louder. I have played with the Equalizer in itunes to no effect. It just does not work.Â
Now, I would glading move away from itunes and use another media player. However, I have other Apple devices through which I listen to music. And the only way I know of to listen,e.g., on the iphone is through itunes.Â
The other related problem with itune, or should I say iCloud, is icloud match. The icloud Match has taken great sounding music and given me back music of an inferior quality, even though it is a Matched AAC format.Â

How can I tell the audio quality of the music I'm downloading. Didn't they have higher quality stuff available earlier? Do they still? How do I know?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhenever i'm in finder and i double-click on a song to play it, when itunes opens the song it removes it from the folder it's in and puts it in a new one called music...this is getting VERY frustrating, as i have all my music neatly organized the way i want it...how can i get itunes to stop this? other than that, i'm very happy with my macbook pro, and definitely glad i switched over from pc...but this is an absolute killer

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded mp3 files from various websites that give away free music. They download as zip files and once I unzip them, I move the folder to the "Music" folder. Then I import them into iTunes (File ---> Add to Library). Â I'd like to make the "Music" folder more organized. Right now I have the "iTunes" folder within the "Music" folder, in addition to SEVERAL folders I've added from the free music I've downloaded. Â Even though I've already added this music to iTunes, if I delete the folders within the "Music" folder, iTunes will no longer be able to play it because it will say it cannot find the source. I get this, but was hoping there was a way to get it into the iTunes folder (the way it gets loaded when you import a CD or buy a song online- it automatically goes there). Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed a new drive in my Mac Pro. I now have to move my iTunes Music folder into the new drive and junk the old one. I know that I can use iTunes/File/Add to Library menu item to get iTunes to locate the new Music Library; however, this is going to leave me with two entries for every track, one good and one broken after I remove the old drive. I think I should junk the old library and then have iTunes rebuild it from the Add To command...

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have many songs on my iPodTouch that were not purchases from the iTunes store. These songs on my iPodTouch were originally on a different computer. They have been erased from the previous computer. I wish to move the songs from my iPodTouch to my MacbookPro. Â
When I plugged my iPodTouch into my MacbookPro (which has no songs), it started to sync (which I don't want to do). I canceled the sync, and I don't know what to do from there. I kind of want to do a reverse sync or something similar.
I'm trying to set up our home network so that everyone can access our large music library through a hard drive attached to apple extreme, but manage all of their other iTunes media files (apps, podcasts, etc) on their own devices. Is it possible for iTunes to have this type of split personality?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis morning suddenly iTunes has stopped playing audio and video tracks - I double click and there is no sound, and the timeline bar stays on 0.00, if you drag no difference, same if you pause and play again. If you drag the timeline on a video file I get still. I've closed and restarted iTunes, and the mac itself
View 14 Replies View RelatedFor a long time, I used my e-mail address as my Apple ID. It has my music and all that other stuff associated on it. I bought MobileMe and now have the @me.com e-mail address, which has an AppleID as that e-mail address. Trying to change the old AppleID to the new e-mail address (ie. entering the new e-mail address in the Change AppleID box of the old account.) results in it telling me that that ID is already in use (by me, obviously). How can I merge the IDs, or somehow move my iTunes music to the new AppleID?

I recently moved my music library to an external library by changing the pathway in Edit/Preferences/Advanced and then consolidating the library. Everything worked for a while but now when I open itunes it is not able to find all the files. Bizarrely for a lot of albums it can find one or two of the songs but the rest all get the "Unable to locate original music file" error message. The music is all there on the hard drive but I don't want to have to manually locate each one. Does anyone know what is causing this or have a script to locate the rest of the music automatically?

its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive
how can I move the songs so I can re-open iTunes and the playlists (with plays in the 100s) find the song in the new place?
utilizing memory on iMac. 320gb almost used (7gb left). Think this is due to extensive iTunes music library. How can I move this to an external drive to free up memory on iMac?

I have had my Mac for almost a year! However, this morning when I went to go on it, the itunes music files I normally play aren't playing with sound. It shows that they are running their time but no sound is coming out. The speakers are not on mute, the volume is turned up and I know the speakers aren't blown or anything because I can hear the "bleep's" telling me I am changing the volume up and down.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am SERIOUSLY considering throwing my PC away and buying an 8-core MP. But I don't know if I will need a better sound card. Sorry, I tried researching this up but I'm still confused.
Is the sound card in the MP good enough? I am not a musician, I just want good fidelity for music, and stereo is all I want. I have a Creative (guess it's the SBLive) today in my PC.
What type of output connectors does the MP have? I saw posts mentioning optical, but I have 2.1 Altec Lansing baffles and I'd like to continue using them. They do NOT have optical input. Just the normal mini-stereo adapter.
I also suppose there is some kind of microphone input somewhere, I need it for skype VOiP (hope it works well on OS X).
I'm having an issue where the sound is playing from the internal speakers and rather not the built in speakers. (The speakers that play the OS X DURRRR and Ear Breaking Memory Beeps) I've tried upgrading the Realtek Audio Drivers from the site and Snow Leopard CD to no success. Does anyone know how to fix this. It's not like this in Vista, but I can't play my games in Vista because I dun have enuff RAM.
