View 2 RepliesI listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI subscribe to a couple video Podcasts, but don't view them often. But one popped up that looked interesting so I tried and only got the audio. The video window did not open.I checked an older video that came with a purchased album and again, the sound played but the video did not open. No Video just Audio. I'm running iTunes 10.6.1 Lion 10.7.3
PowerBook 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
The video podcasts in the playlist open but dont (and cant) play, although when I drag the progress slider left to right it fast forwards. As I drag and I can see whats the video content. I am on 10.6.3 latest Itunes on Snow Leopard, having fell back to Snow Leopard from Lion yesterday.
These podcasts are mp4 - and VLC plays them perfectly, i have d/loaded Xiph, flip4mac, Mplayer X. Lame and these made no difference. I was watching these exact same files on the exact same machine yesterday. But under LION. the files aren't corrupt. Quicktime wont play them either. Quicktime is ticked to work in 32 bit mode.

When I try to play a video on QuickTime I can hear the sound and the bar at the bottom moves across but there's no picture. I have Windows, not a Mac.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to watch streaming video podcasts in iTunes and they would popup in a separate quicktime-type window. Since a recent update streaming podcasts appear in a non-adjustable window over iTunes and I am no longer able to select which portion of the podcast I would like to view. This is irritating.
I've looked through the settings and can't find anything that fixes this.
This is 10.6.2 on a Macbook Pro (Spring 2009?), with iTunes 9.
This is really really starting to annoy me now. I'm watching a movie, and suddenly out of no where, it starts stuttering. It stops playing, misses frames, sound gets off sync with video, overall kills the movie experience. Checking activity monitor, I see mds.app going crazy thrashing the hard drive. What the heck Apple. I don't need spotlight updated every 10 minutes. Is there a way to set times where it scans my computer? I rarely even use spotlight, most of the time I use it to launch programs. Plus, most recent files I really don't need to search since I know where I put them. Please Apple, add some more options for spotlight for heaven's sake. I looked into spotlight options and it's a pathetic splatter of simply selecting which folders you want it to *display*. I want to make it only index at twilight times, or only if I'm not using the data heavy programs like the video player. I don't really want it turn it off though, as I use it sometimes and it's been helpful in finding things. I don't know why Snow Leopard doesn't address this, since it seems like the same interface that's going in 10.6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving watched a couple of Revision 3's podcasts (Tekzilla and HD Nation), at about 20 minutes into it, my MBP freezes for maybe 10 seconds, then the video continues to play, but not in the same place where it left off. Movies purchased from the iTunes store (standard def) play fine with no problems, and the HD podcasts play fine, with the exception of the freeze. Niot had any other issues with the MBP.
I'm using the 9600M GT card, so I'm not sure why it's freezing.
I've been stumped lately as to what in the world is playing a strange sound that i think is a product of Genius. It happens when I:
- Navigate to the iTunes store
- Click on any links in the itunes store, search, account, etc
- when the Genius side bar is out, and tracks change while playing from my Music.
I have gotten it to stop the incessant noise making when tracks change by turning it off and hiding the side bar; but it still makes the noise when i click playlists, my iphone or ipod, other directories, etc.
i was playing around iTunes open and everything then suddenly no sound, it was fine before so i checked all my setting everything's fine, checked wiring and power to soundsticks all good. Reboot and the loading alert plays nice and loud as always but log in and still no sound.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had my Mac for almost a year! However, this morning when I went to go on it, the itunes music files I normally play aren't playing with sound. It shows that they are running their time but no sound is coming out. The speakers are not on mute, the volume is turned up and I know the speakers aren't blown or anything because I can hear the "bleep's" telling me I am changing the volume up and down.

I was listening to a podcast on itunes, paused it, closed the MacBook, opened again a few minutes later and now there's no sound at all. There's sound from the rest of the mac, online etc., but not in itunes, it just plays the podcasts/songs mutely.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn iTunes on OS Lion on an iMac, I started getting an error message that the "video needs QuickTIme and it is no longer supported by iTunes." What gives? The files are m4v and won't play even 5 minutes after I download them.Â
If I download them to my MacBook then access them through the shared media, they will play and become part of the library on the iMac. Seems like a lot of bother just to watch a video. Â
Anyone have a clue about what's going on?

I've had iTunes 10 on my PPC Mac crash twice in the past hour while playing SD video that worked fine in iTunes 9 here. The first time iTunes itself crashed. The 2nd time it caused a kernel panic. Has anyone else had any issues playing video with iTunes 10, particularly under Leopard or a PPC machine under Leopard? I'm about ready to go back to iTunes 9 at this rate.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have fluke to convert flac files to play in itunes. But since the new itunes updates I haven't been able to get them to play like audio tracks. For whatever reason, as soon as I click one to play it pulls up the video player although the video screen remains blank. Fluke worked on older itunes versions, is there a new issue I don't know? Anyway to fix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have lots of video to play, one day I couldn't play my video without quitting iTunes first. Now whenever I want to play a video, I need to quit iTunes because I didn't quit from after the previous time that I was playing a video clip from my library. I have reinstalled iTunes without effect.

I've got a few-months-old Mac mini hooked up to an older Apple Cinema display (model A1081). When I try to play a TV show purchased from iTunes that's in HD or HD-SD format, I get the following error (and no video): This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). Any way around this, or am I just stuck because this monitor is "old"?

I never noticed this on my last hp laptop but my new dell almost everything in itunes plays with the audio out of sync with the video. most noticeable on podcasts. my dell is not high end but it has duel core amd 64 4400 chips 2 gigs of ram. running xp. it has a built in nvidia geforce 6150l video card with a built in sound card. it has done this since I got it a month ago. it is not an issue playing dvd's in windows media player. just itunes. any clues?

I'm having a rather annoying problem playing videos on itunes. Instead of the video, I'm getting a white screen with sound. In full screen mode, I'm getting a blank screen, also with sound but no controls pop up when I move the mouse around. I'm getting this with episodes of Lost I downloaded from the itunes store (as well as previews on the itunes store), as well as the "Jake and Amir" podcast. Curiously, if I open the Jake and Amir podcast in VLC it runs fine, but if I try the Lost episodes in VLC they come out without sound OR video. The Onion podcast, on the other hand, works just fine in itunes. This problem, I think, only goes back to when I got the latest version of Itunes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm happily browsing the internet with firefox/safari and I decide to open up iTunes in order to play some music and it starts to download video podcasts. No problem right? I like to watch video podcasts... except suddenly, the pages I try to load in firefox start to hang. It is like they all start to time out. Until I pause the iTunes downloads, then everything starts to work properly again. It is not only iTunes that hogs the pipe, I also have this problem everytime time machine makes a backup. Does anybody else experience this? Anyone know how to fix it? I don't remember having this problem back when I was a windows user. I might just need a fresh OS/X install...

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to trouble-shoot for audio when playing a DVD? I have had no problems with sound. I have been listening to itunes and Pandora all day.Â
Here's the scoop:Â
1. I burned a copy of a film screener (with permission). The video was fine, but it had no sound. (I have made a copy of this before and it was fine.)Â
2. I tried another DVD of a music video. Again, the video was ok but not the audio.Â
3. I tried a purchased movie DVD. The audio still didn't work (but video did).Â
4. I tried a CD and the audio and video worked.Â
PS Not sure if this is important but thought I should mention:Â For some reason, the video of the copied DVD kept popping up when I inserted the music video DVD. Once I restarted the computer, it played the correct DVD loaded in the player.Â

I started iTunes this evening and as it opened a "thermometer"-type dialog appeared that said something about "converting" and "xml". (I didn't pay much attention as I was doing something else while it opened.) Once it opened, iTunes started going through all my music resetting volume. By this time I knew something was not normal. Then I noticed that, while my music appeared to be there, none of my Apps are, nor are any of the podcasts I had subscribed to. I had just synced my iPhone this a.m. with no discernible problem. I had deleted some duplicate episodes of one podcast (which are still in my trash), but that was the only thing that I had done out of the ordinary. Can anyone tell me:
1) What happened (and how do I prevent it from happening again)?
2) How do I get my apps and my podcasts back?
3) If I have to restore from my latest Time Machine backup (which is more than 10 days old, I'm afraid), how would I do that
I can't get my NPR podcasts to update, although I have subscribed for years. If I hit Refresh, nothing happens. If I go to the Store and subscribe, nothing happens, although I can subscribe to other podcasts.

Something is blocking my computer from downloading podcasts. I have NetBarrier and Little Snitch installed but disabling both of them didn't help. When I try to download a podcast in iTunes, I get an exclamation point next to the podcast and nothing downloads. I tried this with several podcasts and none will download. I can download the podcasts onto my iPad so the problem is with something on my MacBook that is blocking iTunes podcasts. The App Store is working fine in iTunes and I could download apps to the MacBook. The problem seems to be only with the podcasts. I'm using the latest versions of Lion and iTunes. I checked the link to my iTunes library (on a separate partition) and that is working fine.

I noticed there was an issue with the last update (11.2.1) where podcasts were unexpectedly downloading. The new update (11.2.2) states that it "fixes a problem where certain podcast episodes may download unexpectedly after upgrading". However since installing the new update it has not seemed to have solved the problem. As soon as Itunes opened up again once the update was complete about 7 podcasts were downloading???

There is no "Get All" button for podcasts in iTunes 11.3.1(2) for Mac. This is a bit of nuisance, to say the least.
