The only settings for audio is just for when signing in but there's no option to shut off any other sound effects.

Feb 12, 2009I used Handbrake to rip the movie My Best Friend's Girl like I do all my movies. The problem is the sound is off by about 5 seconds on playback. I tried messing around with it but didn't get too far. Does anyone know the best way to help set the audio right? Is there a feature I'm not seeing, or will I have to export the sound from the whole movie and add it back in as an audio track to the movie?

Applications :: Won't Work With Imovie / Not Playing Sound
May 3, 2010I have to do this video project and I used Photobooth with the Macbook iSight to record it and I edited it with iMovie, but right as I was about to finish editing the last scenes, iMovie stopped playing sound. If I slowly scroll or hover over the video frames it will play the audio, but not then the video is being played. and the audio wave button is on, but the green audio bars won't even display while the video is playing, but will when I'm hovering over video layers.

Nov 7, 2009My MacBook Pro seems to have this odd issue of sound effects (in the OSX desktop) not playing properly. Basically the sfx got cut off in the middle by a subtle cracking sound. This usually occurs when that particular sound is being played for the first time. Subsequent events with that sound play correctly. Hope I'm making sense here . A good example is the startup sound for Skype (this happens with pretty much all the sounds after restart).
Sound in youtube or movies, and music play back just fine. My machine is a 2008 17' MBP running Snow Leopard. Clean reinstall of Snow Leopard doesn't solve the problem. Sound in Windows 7 (boot camp) works well, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. Actually, the problem seems sporadic but pretty bad: in Skype for example, incoming call FX (for first call) sounds glitchy and looped.. Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated. I've looked around the net but couldn't find the solution.

Dec 18, 2009I'm probably going to slap myself for having to ask this, but how do I stop sound effects (deleting files, copying, etc) when I have music playing? It just stutters the actual music playing and makes an annoying sound.

May 1, 2010I did a dick head move and downloaded effects for photo booth. The reason why it's a dick head move was because I didn't realize that the effects was for photo booth 2.1.1 and I'm running 3.0.2. Now my default effect quality is terrible and you cant hardly take a "good" picture. Is there any way I can remove the new effects and get my regular back to the way it is suppose to be?

Mar 19, 2009I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. So does anyone know how I can get the preview of these to show up, or even to paste a picture in the box?! Jan 2, 2010I mainly am editing little clips that are 18 seconds - 2min each and putting around 25 of them together into a video with a bunch of special effects in them. I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. Adobe after effects vs Final cut pro 7 (I have adobe after effects right now, I don't have final cut yet)
2. movie converting:
my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".
1. Add videos to the list
2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.

Apr 23, 2010I got my new Macbook Air today, and I downloaded some effects off of Apple and then also some from Cateye. But for some of the rainbow-y colored ones, the picture turns out inverted? This includes: Magicball, Coloido, Christmas, Tryptamine, Retro: Trippy, Retro: Rainbow Tee (my favorite!), Ocean, City Lights, etc. At first I thought this was a problem from the site I downloaded it from, but then I downloaded two sets from two different sites and both sets have effecs with this weird inverted-glitch.
