Applications :: Photo Editor For Adding Cartoon Effects To Pictures

I am looking for a simple photo/picture editor for Mac OS X that allows one to add cartoon effects to a photo/picture. An example of one would be Cartoonize Me for the iPhone and iPod Touch by Portegno Apps; I'd like one for the computer. Being the picky person I am, I'd really like it to be free and for Mac OS X (10.5.5 is my OS). It'd be fine if it's an online or download, as long as it gets the job done.
Urgency level: Relatively high.
The application is having problems with the "Pop Art" effect. The top left quadrant is as usual, but the remaining ones are completely yellow. I have tried resetting the prefs, but to no avail. Here is a screenshot:
I did a dick head move and downloaded effects for photo booth. The reason why it's a dick head move was because I didn't realize that the effects was for photo booth 2.1.1 and I'm running 3.0.2. Now my default effect quality is terrible and you cant hardly take a "good" picture. Is there any way I can remove the new effects and get my regular back to the way it is suppose to be?
Does anybody have any knowledge as to what would be the best free photo editor? I am looking to start such a hobby, but would like to get a feel for it before my purchase of Aperture, as I don't want to regret my purchase.
I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. So does anyone know how I can get the preview of these to show up, or even to paste a picture in the box?! Also, does anyone know where I can download some single qtz files to add to photo booth as well?
Well with the release of OS 10.6.2, The crashing seems to not occur anymore. However, Now when I take a picture with some (not all) effects, the saved pictured will come out in an almost inverted color. For example, my skin tone will come out dark as opposed to light.s?
I got my new Macbook Air today, and I downloaded some effects off of Apple and then also some from Cateye. But for some of the rainbow-y colored ones, the picture turns out inverted? This includes: Magicball, Coloido, Christmas, Tryptamine, Retro: Trippy, Retro: Rainbow Tee (my favorite!), Ocean, City Lights, etc. At first I thought this was a problem from the site I downloaded it from, but then I downloaded two sets from two different sites and both sets have effecs with this weird inverted-glitch.
I am an artist and I photograph my own work for uploading images to my website and/or sending them to galleries and prospective buyers, which means I need to be able to adjust the size and resolution easily and store several versions of the same image. Iphoto just isn't cutting it. I used an old version of photoshop elements on my old PC which did the trick, but now that I've switched to a Mac I'd like to purchase/download some newer and cheaper or free(!) software. I am tech impaired so it has to be very user friendly. It must allow me to adjust the size and res easily. The only forum I've seen so far regarding this dates back to 08, so I figure there's got to be something even better out there now that I can use.
I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. I also have iPhoto as it came with the iMac when I bought it. I don't really want to use iPhoto at all. I want to use PSE. How do I set my computer to open PSE when I insert my memory card or when I plug in my iPhone or for any other thing that uses photos? Can I just completely uninstall iPhoto?
I downloaded some wave sounds that I like to a folder on my HD, but can't figure out how to add them to the 'sound effects' folder in my System Preferences. What's the procedure or am I going about this all wrong.
I am looking for a easy no fuss way to add some cool effects to photos, whats out there, photoshops too complicated at the minute, picturesque is ok but a bit too basic, I am looking for something with lots of cool effects.
So, my photo booth booth effects are not working. They were working perfectly fine before, but now comic book, color pencil and pop art aren't the same. Any figure that its photographing looks black and comes out black. Theres no shading.
Somebody posted a pic of them with new effects and said " I am loving these new photo booth effects." I dont have them and I would like them. How can i get them.
Photo Booth works fine with the first couple pages of effects but once I choose another page of effects (towards the end usually) Photo Booth freezes. I already repaired permissions and I have restarted my computer more than once (for other reasons) since this has started happening. I forget if this started happening before I installed Snow Leopard or after.
Can somebody direct me to a good tutorial of how to install .qtz effects for iChat(Leopard)/Photo Booth? I got one installed by dragging it into /Library/Compositions, but when I drag another into it, it overrides the previous one. I did a little searching and found nothing.
Okay, I'm still within' my first month of mac ownership, and one of my few disappointments has been iPhoto. I used to use my digital camera's included software(ACDSee) for all my photo editing needs, but the software wasn't mac compatible.
I have found iPhoto to be completely useless for anything other than basic photo storage. All I'm looking to do is resize photos(by pixel) for message board avatars or uploading. Also to resize photos(by inch or mm) for printing. iPhoto to my knowledge doesn't let me do either of these in any sort of simple manner.
So what I'm looking for is a basic photo editor for my mac. I've read about iView and Aperture, but both of these seem like extreme overkill in both features and price for what I want to do with my photos.
So what are my options at a reasonable price? Reasonable being anywhere from free-$70 or so.
I'm purchasing a Macbook Pro and I will be using it primarily for video and photo editing. I will need strong hd write performance for video encoding. I would also like a very fast load time for my apps such as photoshop and final cut. I am considering SSD drive for fast load of my apps. I would put the OS and all apps on the SSD. I would get a second drive, the fast Momentus XT from Seagate, and install it where the DVD drive is currently located. I would use the second drive for all data such as photos and video. This would give me fast write speeds for encoding and transferring video and photos from the camera to the MBP.
I need some sort of free program to take two pictures and put them side by side. It's a one time deal so I don't want to pay for it, I just have images of artwork and their respective placards that I'd like to be able to put side by side as one image so it's easier to follow. I know it sounds basic and probably dumb but I literally have zero experience with photo applications.
I thought I saw a presentation somewhere of someone adding a picture to an email that had a picture frame using iPhoto! I would love to send a picture of my baby cousin with a frame around it and I do not know how! Does anyone know?
i had a photo shoot with me and my drummer a few weeks back, the lady who did our photos used a mac to produce them. i fortunately have a mac, but my drummer only has a pc. the pictures are not accessible on a pc, only on a mac. can someone suggest a program that converts photos from the mac format to the pc format. i use handbrake alot for my videos, but it doesnt seem to work for these photos.
