what is the best audio editing software for Mac to add echo/reverb to a solo singer? i used to use Adobe Audition which was great, now I'm using Mac which "suppose" to be better and more professional in this area, but till now I didn't find any good software that can give me the same feeling of a deep voice effects produced with Adobe Audition...

The only settings for audio is just for when signing in but there's no option to shut off any other sound effects.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI mainly am editing little clips that are 18 seconds - 2min each and putting around 25 of them together into a video with a bunch of special effects in them. I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. Please look at the first part of the video with the red lines coming out of the name.

Adobe after effects vs Final cut pro 7 (I have adobe after effects right now, I don't have final cut yet)
2. movie converting:
my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".
1. Add videos to the list
2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.
Is there a way to set
A) a different sound for when I power on?
B) a sound effect for when I power down?
I already have a .aif file for the latter.
Anybody know if the sound effects that come with iMovie 5 and 6 are royalty free?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro seems to have this odd issue of sound effects (in the OSX desktop) not playing properly. Basically the sfx got cut off in the middle by a subtle cracking sound. This usually occurs when that particular sound is being played for the first time. Subsequent events with that sound play correctly. Hope I'm making sense here . A good example is the startup sound for Skype (this happens with pretty much all the sounds after restart).
Sound in youtube or movies, and music play back just fine. My machine is a 2008 17' MBP running Snow Leopard. Clean reinstall of Snow Leopard doesn't solve the problem. Sound in Windows 7 (boot camp) works well, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. Actually, the problem seems sporadic but pretty bad: in Skype for example, incoming call FX (for first call) sounds glitchy and looped.. Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated. I've looked around the net but couldn't find the solution.
I'm probably going to slap myself for having to ask this, but how do I stop sound effects (deleting files, copying, etc) when I have music playing? It just stutters the actual music playing and makes an annoying sound.

I have recently been asked to help set up a "TV studio" for a church. It is basically a project designed to turn the church pulpit into a working TV studio where weekly sermons can be streamed onto the web, or even played on local public access TV channels, for those tech savvy partitioners that can't make it to regular sermons. The budget for equipment is very generous, and the church has expressed a preference for using mac computers for everything from initial sound and video capture, production editing, and streaming to the web and/or local TV stations.
Equipment they already have is the typical stuff you might find in a modern church, eg. 4 mics on and around the pulpit, a fairly new sound board (not sure how many channels, but at least 10 or more), some old mini-dv camcorders, etc. I'm starting from scratch here. This is an equipment and software question, but I'm posting on the software forum because they have already decided on a mac computer. It is just a question of whether an iMac or a Mac Pro tower will be used.
I am trying to have a song playing in the background of a movie I am creating. It needs to change volume part way through. Its my understanding this has been removed in imovie 09. How would I go about doing this? Is there any work arounds?

At a few points throughout the one minute clip, my voice is overbearingly loud since I'm holding the phone nearest to me... and I'd like to adjust the sound (I guess simply decrease the volume?) at these few points where my voice overpowers the rest of the video... so as to make it less awkward for myself, really... before I share the video with any of my friends and family. How would I go about this to just edit the volumes of a few short segments?

I am new to video editing and am currently looking for a software for Mac to put together a slide + sound show. I am looking for a software that will allow me to play and edit the slide show and music at the same time, i.e. I will have the show and the audio track available for editing on the screen at the same time. The slideshow is a series of jpegs, that will have 3 to 4 timelines running together at the same time, each timeline will be fading in or out or dissovling at the same time so that the transition will create a new image through layering the timelines (am I making sense?).
For the sound, I need to be able to mix multiple tracks and while the show is playing and will be able to increase/decrease the volume of individual tracks at any point of the show. Final cut will suit the video need of my show, but not the audio need (if it does, please let me know), while sound booth will satisfy my audio needs (but I cannot put them on the same screen). I am looking for software that will do the show + sound editing job on the same screen and will not cost as much as FinalCut or Soundbooth. It would be great if there is a good free software.
I tried to record some audio (voice) with garageband earlier this day and it didn't work! I have a built in microphone that is working fine, it tested it (mac OS X, version 10.5.8) and my input volume level is turned up (system preferences). I tried to record with isight (imovie) and can record a video, but no sound eighter. I've been able to record in the past with garageband so i haven't a single clue what happened.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no audio, either on the internet or YouTube. I checked System Preferences>Sound and note that both sliders in this drop down box cannot be moved. Also the "mute" box at the bottom right is checked. I cannot "unmute" this check mark. Before i did all the above I pressed the F12 button to increase volume but nothing (no sound) comes off.

I've had a problem with my MacBook Pro (2008) for a while. If I connect a headset or external speakers, there will be no sound from the Macs audio output. The built in speakers is working perfectly. Do you have any idears what could be the reason? I tryed do reset the Pram but with no luck. If it helps there is no red light coming out of the macs output. The problem occurred when I connected a mini-jack for my speakers. Maybe the output thinks it's a S/PDIF and not a normal audio output?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy iMac switches from internal audio output to external when I log in after computer wakes up from sleep mode. It also does it when I "shut down" under apple menu and physically turn on via the power button on back. My quick fix is to go under audio settings and manually switch audio output back to internal speakers. I don't understand why it's switching on it's own. Could another program be switching the audio output, maybe iTunes?

My mums macbook has gone crazy! There is no sound coming from the macbook, and when I went to check if the volume was up the volume box popped up as usual but with a symbol, similar to a no entry sign. Circle with a cross through it. Then I saw a bright red light from within the audio jack itself. When I plugged in ear phones it works fine but the built in speakers are not working.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI purchased a Mac Pro last Thursday after running a G4 350 MHZ machine for far too many years. But it had been such a good machine I focused on it and took my eyes off of technological progress. I thought the PCI buses in the Mac pro were just faster versions of the kind of PCI in the G4. The G4 was outfitted with a Revolution 7.1 sound card from M Audio and that fed into a Creative 6.1 speaker system (with internal amp). The sound was amazing. It was my hope that I'd be able to transfer this card to the Mac Pro and discover even higher quality sound. But before I even tried plugging it in I did some checking and found that PCI Express is an entirely different technology than PCI.
M-Audio has stopped making the Revolution even though they still have drivers for OS X 10.5 (for folks who put this OS onto machines with the original PCI slots, I suppose). So now that this dream has shattered I am wondering what are my options for being able to hear great sound from my new computer. The internal speaker is OK for the beeps and buzzes produced by an OS that wants to get your attention but it sounds horrible when you're trying to watch a surround sound DVD. I'd like to hear from any Mac Pro owners who have found a way to make their computers deliver high quality sound. I know the Mac Pro has optical in and out but have no idea how I could make use of this other than to plug into a rather high priced surround amp.
I recently bought a 2009 Mac Pro. Now, I'm trying to setup a small bedroom home theater. And sound is still my main problem here. I used my Mac Pro mainly for doing graphic works, listening to music, watching movie, and gaming sometimes.

My plan is to get audio out through the optical output. But according to several articles I read online, optical output does not transmit audio when I play music on iTunes or play games (in BootCamp), is it true? So far, I couldn't find any sound card (internal or external) which work for mac pro that has 3 analog 5.1 signal output which I can use with standard 5.1 speakers. The only things I found is the Creative DDTS-100 and the FireWire which were all discontinued. What other options do I have?
Since a couple of days I'm noticing a popping sound during audio playback through my external speakers. That means when playing back a video or music through iTunes, basically always when there's audio playing. I'm in the process of figuring out if it also happens on my regular integrated speakers.
My MBP is the recently released 15" Core i7 model. Only thing I changed is I added an Intel SSD.
Any thoughts as to what it can be? Or where to start looking for a solution?
My Mac's audio doesn't work anymore, except for the "starting sound". The audio icon now is grey, instead of black. When I try to turn up the volume nothing happens because a "prohibition signal" appears under the volume symbol in the middle of the screen.

I noticed my sound wasn't working, so I did a restart. The "blip" sound when you adjust the volume using F11/F12 would play, but as soon as I tried to run something else (YouTube video, iTunes, etc.), that wouldn't play (just get stuck at whatever point I tried to start it). After that, the blip sound no longer worked either.
I have tried the following things already and none of them fixed the problem (all of them reset the "blip" sound, but it always went away again as soon as I tried to play anything):- running Apple Diagnostics (no problem detected)- resetting PRAM- resetting SMC
I've checked things as suggested in other message boards … there's no red light in my headphone jack, nor is the sound muted under System Preferences. The problem persists whether headphones are in or not.

I've got the old Macbook model, circa 2006. My audio port's been broken for awhile now, and I recently got a 5.1 surround sound system. I've been playing music through my iPod, of course not getting the full surround effect, but would love to be able to hook the Macbook up to this system, be it in full surround or not. YouTube has stripped the audio because on some parts of the video there is background music. I would really like to be able to watch/download this video with the audio - does anyone know a way to get around this?
fwiw: I don't have the original file, and downloading the video via pwnYouTube results in a silent mp4 file.
Recently my Quicktime X audio has been sounding very strange, it sounds like its playing in a drain pipe... it has that compressed echo sound to it. I have tried deleting the app and even re installing OSX Lion but to no avail... the sound remains the same. All other video player apps work just fine and sound perfect.Also, does anyone else have a "preferences" tab for Quicktime. I no longer have one but im not sure if it ever did have one.
