Applications :: Video Editing And Format Converting - Special Effects
Jan 2, 2010I mainly am editing little clips that are 18 seconds - 2min each and putting around 25 of them together into a video with a bunch of special effects in them. I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. Please look at the first part of the video with the red lines coming out of the name.

1. video editing applications:
Adobe after effects vs Final cut pro 7 (I have adobe after effects right now, I don't have final cut yet)
2. movie converting:
my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".
1. Add videos to the list
2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.

Apr 7, 2008I've been trying to figure out how to crop a regular photo taken with my digital camera down to a 2x2 passport size photo. Everything I've found in the forums suggests ways I can change printing options, but since I'll be sending the photo out digitally, I'd like to know how to save the image in this size.
I don't have Photoshop (except for PS Express), and when i use iPhoto's "Custom Size" option to set it to 2x2, it looks to me like it's still in a rectangular shape. When I save it as a "Square" it turns into a square, but a square that fills the page. Are there any other options that I have?

Dec 6, 2009I used quicktime X to screen record a skype video chat and im trying to crop it so that theres just the skype window and not my desktop. I used imovie and did this but the video quality is terrible when i export it (shadows are like flcikers of grays). Im wondering if theres a way to do this to keep te exact video quality ( when importing to imovie i clicked keep original quality but still turned out terrible after i exported it) or to simply crop the video i need out of the movie.

I have a long video on my recorder and I only need like 30 seconds of it, I don't want to have to import the whole movie (it's HD, so it'll take a while). Is there a quicker way to do this? The reason why it's a dick head move was because I didn't realize that the effects was for photo booth 2.1.1 and I'm running 3.0.2. Mar 19, 2009I have downloaded loads of new effects for photo booth and then was looking for some more and the single qtz files which are placed in the Library/Compositions folder show up as a grey screen (see attachment) in the preview but are fine when you click on them. So does anyone know how I can get the preview of these to show up, or even to paste a picture in the box?! This includes: Magicball, Coloido, Christmas, Tryptamine, Retro: Trippy, Retro: Rainbow Tee (my favorite!), Ocean, City Lights, etc. At first I thought this was a problem from the site I downloaded it from, but then I downloaded two sets from two different sites and both sets have effecs with this weird inverted-glitch.

Jun 17, 2012I will have to spend $60 ($30 for me and $30 for my 93-year-old dad) just to crop off the beginning and end of the MP4 videos that we load onto our PCs from our new Kodak cameras. (The cameras were only $65 each, which was the only reason I could afford them.)Bought the cameras for myself and my dad this spring, but most of our videos are of wildlife and pets. That means waiting before and after the animal does something interesting, and that means cropping the beginning and end. With our old Kodak cameras (videos were .mov format) we could do that with basic QuickTime, but not anymore.Apparently gotta go Pro just to make basic cuts.
Actually, I don't expect Apple to give away everything free, and wouldn't mind paying something for basic editing options.But Pro isn't basic, and it isn't cheap, especially considering I'd have to pay for it twice.IMO, Apple should offer a cheaper version that just does the basics.

Dec 23, 2004I am trying to create a custom ISO for installing linux on dedicated servers, based on a standard ISO. For this, I need to edit a file which contains parameters for partitioning the HD, as I have replaced the supplied HD with a larger one on many machines, and want to modify partition creation, so I do not have to install fdisk and modify the /home partition later.
I have the ISO and can mount it, and edit the necessary file, but I cannot save it back into the ISO.
How should I do this? I've googled widely and found nothing.
OSX 10.3, Toast 5, trying to alter Cobalt Raq 4i ISO.

Feb 1, 2010I need the ability to past a tiff of my signature on pdf's ad type in dates and such. I can currently type dates in using Preview, how do I add the signature tiff and flatten the file using something other than Photoshop (how I handle this now).
