Software :: Prevent Sound Effects When Music Is Playing?
Dec 18, 2009
I'm probably going to slap myself for having to ask this, but how do I stop sound effects (deleting files, copying, etc) when I have music playing? It just stutters the actual music playing and makes an annoying sound.
I used my mac yesterday and the volume worked just fine. But today I turned it on and there was no sound at all and there is no sound when using the internet or playing music. I can mute and unmute and adjust the volume control up and down but still nothing. I went to system preferences and everything is okay with the sound. I just bought this 2 weeks ago.
Has anyone else with the Alum MacBook loaded Vista and experienced sound glitches when playing any sounds? My machine will have sound stuttering lasting 3-5 sec occuring every 2-3 min. Works fine in OS_X but never in Vista. I,m trying to decide if I need to return or exchange the machine. AppleCare is clueless on the problem other than blaming the drivers. I have reloaded Vista Home prem 32bit, BootCamp 2.0, Updated 2.1 BootCamp drivers, changed the realtek driver in Vista, updated to 1 month old realtek new driver, and lastly disabled the onboard audio and installed a new Creative external USB sound card ALL to NO Avail. I have 5 days left to return the notebook, but otherwise I love the new MacBook.

I have had my Mac for almost a year! However, this morning when I went to go on it, the itunes music files I normally play aren't playing with sound. It shows that they are running their time but no sound is coming out. The speakers are not on mute, the volume is turned up and I know the speakers aren't blown or anything because I can hear the "bleep's" telling me I am changing the volume up and down.
what is the best audio editing software for Mac to add echo/reverb to a solo singer? i used to use Adobe Audition which was great, now I'm using Mac which "suppose" to be better and more professional in this area, but till now I didn't find any good software that can give me the same feeling of a deep voice effects produced with Adobe Audition...
My MacBook Pro seems to have this odd issue of sound effects (in the OSX desktop) not playing properly. Basically the sfx got cut off in the middle by a subtle cracking sound. This usually occurs when that particular sound is being played for the first time. Subsequent events with that sound play correctly. Hope I'm making sense here . A good example is the startup sound for Skype (this happens with pretty much all the sounds after restart).
Sound in youtube or movies, and music play back just fine. My machine is a 2008 17' MBP running Snow Leopard. Clean reinstall of Snow Leopard doesn't solve the problem. Sound in Windows 7 (boot camp) works well, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. Actually, the problem seems sporadic but pretty bad: in Skype for example, incoming call FX (for first call) sounds glitchy and looped.. Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated. I've looked around the net but couldn't find the solution.
I downloaded some wave sounds that I like to a folder on my HD, but can't figure out how to add them to the 'sound effects' folder in my System Preferences. What's the procedure or am I going about this all wrong.
I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window, selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!
Normally I have my music stored on an external HD. When I sync my iPhone the music is synced with the content of the external drive. Were I not to have the drive turned on during the sync, iTunes would delete the music on my iPhone as it would sync the "no music" on my pc with the music on my iPhone. Now I am traveling and will be away from my external HD for about a month. I would like to add some apps to my iPhone but if I do a sync I will lose all that music until I can get back home. Not what I want to have happen. Is there any way to prevent iTunes from syncing the music, i.e. just letting what's there alone and syncing the rest of the content?
I purchased my Macbook in August 2007 and have no problems until Christmas this year.
It started buzzing and I wasn't sure what it was, until a week later I got a folder with a question mark at log-in, from what I understand my hard-drive died. I replaced the hard-drive myself within a few minutes, very easy and no problems, and it runs perfectly.
It's been two weeks and it's already buzzing again. I take very good care of my Macbook but I do transport it from class and back everyday.
I have an older Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz and lately when I've been watching videos on Youtube, Megavideo, etc. the video will become choppy and the sound becomes distorted and gargled. This problem is becoming increasingly annoying (just about everyday) and I don't know what is wrong. I've noticed that this happens when the computer gets really HOT. I usually have to shut the computer so that it goes to sleep and cools down for a little while. When I reopen the computer the video usually plays fine for a while. Anyone else experience this problem or know of a solution?
how to trouble-shoot for audio when playing a DVD? I have had no problems with sound. I have been listening to itunes and Pandora all day.
Here's the scoop:
1. I burned a copy of a film screener (with permission). The video was fine, but it had no sound. (I have made a copy of this before and it was fine.)
2. I tried another DVD of a music video. Again, the video was ok but not the audio.
3. I tried a purchased movie DVD. The audio still didn't work (but video did).
4. I tried a CD and the audio and video worked.
PS Not sure if this is important but thought I should mention: For some reason, the video of the copied DVD kept popping up when I inserted the music video DVD. Once I restarted the computer, it played the correct DVD loaded in the player.
I am on a 2008 Mac Pro. My computer was on and after being in another room for about 5 minutes, I start hearing my music playing on the Mac. My iTunes wasn't even on, how is this possible??? No one here but me, so it's not like the keyboard was pressed or anything the music just started playing. It was a random song too, in the middle of one of my albums. First: has anyone ever heard of such a weird thing? Second: is this of concern security wise? Is someone hacked into my machine?
It has been freezing and then i have to restart it. It freezes under light and heavy loads doesn't matter. Thought it might have been the mouse but its not because if it freezes while playing music the music will skip in one spot.
This is very wierd. I am sitting, writing on my laptop, and suddenly some kind of christmasy music starts playing. I figure it's the website i am visiting, so i just close the window. It doesn't stop. I have no idea of what is playing now. I close everything but Finder, so nothing is running but that. It is still playing. I have no idea of how to stop it, but to turn of the computer. That's isn't a good long term solution though.
I am a new mac user and a sound similar to the "Frog" sound effect keeps playing at random times and with no apparent reason. It just plays and at different times...Sometimes it's every 20 seconds, sometimes more or less. I disabled the sound in System Preferences and it kept playing. I don't know what else to do since i'm new with mac... It's sounding right now, and the only application i have open is safari obviously, and the battery is charging.
iTunes 10 is playing my .mp4 music, of whcih I rip from FLAC to .mp4 using Media Monkey, and now play in a window, blacking out my screen as if it were a movie. This didn't occur in any iTunes version before this (the songs played fine in iTunes as if it were an mp3 or aac files) and has been my setup for YEARS.
So basically I'm sat here pretty chuffed with my self after putting together a nice Spotify playlist, and iTunes keep randomly playing music? I've shut it down and stuff, but it literally opens and plays random music tracks.
I'm going to be djaying some events for my church and want to use my Powerbook to play the music through a sound system. I'll be running it to a mixer first and then to 2 monitors. What will I need to configure on my Powerbook to do this? Or will I be able to just hook up the cables and play music from iTunes? I will be looking at the actual mixer this coming Sunday to see what type of cables I'll need.
I imported several cd's and tracks into iTunes last night and there were no problems while importing. I was able to listen to my music in the iTunes library up until this evening. When I click on a song, a box pops up saying "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP addres and your network connections and try again." So I press "OK" and another box pops up saying "The song "(name)-(artist)" could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Would you like to locate it?" I click on "Yes" and see all my songs listed under iTunes/music but all of the songs I have listed in the library are gray and I cannot click on them. I have checked that I am connected to my home network/internet because I am able to share/listen to my iTunes library located on my Windows desktop as well as browse the internet. The only other thing I could think of doing was downloading the new iTunes 8 which I did, and nothing has changed.
It doesn't matter what I do- It's not the iTunes dashboard widget because I removed it, I turned off the iTunes helper app so it doesn't start up with the computer, and it keeps opening up and playing music for no reason.
So my new car has a usb connection to play music from (which is awesome!!). However, when I plug my usb into the car's usb connection and try to play music, it works, but every other track is "unavailable". However , there is no "track" there..i.e. if my music folder copied from mac os x 10.5 has 12 songs, the car reads 24 files and file 1 will play song 1, file 2 will be unavailable, file 3 will play song 2 from music folder. My assumption is that Mac OSX is adding in some kind of invisible file or something, but I'm not sure what's going on.
I just recently installed Windows 7 via bootcamp and I was just wondering if there is a way I can play my music files that are stored on my Mac partition while I'm on windows. I do have MacDrive installed but I still can't seem to play anything.
