I am creating a presentation in Keynote for a project in school that uses Windows with Powerpoint 2003. Will my special effects and transitions work in Powerpoint when I present? Is there a way I can ensure they will work in a different format?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed iWork 06 but it seems although I have gained a bunch of new transitions I have lost several, and some of them I used often!
Why is this? And is there a way to add the old removed ones from Keynote 2 into keynote 3?
It appears to be:
Burn
One of the Mosaic Flips
Drop
Falling tiles
Grid
Motion Dissolve
Those were good transitions!
And some of the text transitions are lost too. One odd thing I noticed is that if i bring in one of the old Keynote files with the old transitions it adds that old transition to the list!

I mainly am editing little clips that are 18 seconds - 2min each and putting around 25 of them together into a video with a bunch of special effects in them. I get these clips from a game called "runescape". Here is a video of something that I am trying to do, keep in mind I want it much better though. Please look at the first part of the video with the red lines coming out of the name.

1. video editing applications:
Adobe after effects vs Final cut pro 7 (I have adobe after effects right now, I don't have final cut yet)
2. movie converting:
my screen capture software is IShowU, it saves the files as a .mov, I have heard that you need .avi or .mp4 to edit videos. I have a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter".
1. Add videos to the list
2. I select "AVI - Audio-Video Interleaved as the profile (output)
3. I select a custom quality of 9999
Every movie converter I use lowers the quality of my video which is really, the method I use in the program I said above this is as close as I can get to the original video.
I used to use powerpoint 2007 for the presentations at the uni and I really like it. I also tried Keynote which in my opinion creates better looking animations and slightly better looking slide shows.
But Keynote does not have SmartArt Graphics which in my opinion reduce great amount of time when creating a slide show.
How do you cope with lack of SmartArt Graphics?
And what are your reasons for using Keynote not the Powerpoint?
i give lectures at a local university and wonder if you could suggest a few programs as a repository/organizer for a bunch of images (most will come off the web). I realize that Iphoto can do some of this, however, its tendency to group images by date is not terribly useful to me. What I'd prefer is something like Papers that would let me preview and tag the images.
I wish I could be more specific; however, my imagination is hampered by my lack of familiarity with what software is out there.
Also, if you have any suggestions for organizing materials for presentations--I give 8-10 different 1-hour presentations per week-
i have a keynote file and for the life of me, i can't get it open.
I need to export it to powerpoint for a client.
The funny thing is that i sat with the person who created it and it opens for them and on a trial version. Go figure.
I'm doing a presentation tomorrow (I can't bring my macbook pro). I made the presentation in keynote 09 with several of the new text and image transitions. I know I will be using a Macbook 2,1 tomorrow for the presentation. Does anyone know if all the transitions will work or would if be safer to export it as a movie file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have several CME Conference Lectures (slides made in PPT). Unfortunately, I guess these presenters love color, and so all slides are in a blue background with white text or some variation thereof. Personally, I like to have a print out of the slides when I am reading/preparing for my future cases. etc. and so I physically print these slides out. Unfortunately, the unnecessary background color is an unnecessary burden on my printer, and so I was wondering how I can change the the background and text in one shot so I don't have print out the unnecessary color.
I have tried trying to change the background from within powerpoint, but because the text is often in white, this causes the text to "disappear" on a white background. The only way to get the text back is to change the text color on a slide by slide basis. This is fine if the presentations are short, but most of these presentations are 200+ slides.
I was hoping there is some trick either in powerpoint or keynote to be able to change slide themes (such that background and text can change in one shot).
When I use some powerpoint presentation containing audio-visual info keynote always seems to prematurely end the audio part. Have tinkered with it a little, but can't seem to sort it out

Today I started my computer and launched FCPX, just like pretty much every day of the past 3 weeks. All of a sudden, I can't apply Cross Dissolves (or any other transition) to any clip. I constantly get this message:
I know that my clips need handles in order to make a transition work, and that is totally the case... in some cases, there are 3 minutes of footage before AND after the part that is in my timeline, so I don't see any reason for this message to appear. Also when I click on the "Create Transition" button, nothing happens.
This really grinds my gears and I have absolutely NO clue what could cause this problem. I googled for hours and reset pretty much everything there is to reset - without success.
I'm still on 10.1.2 because I'm editing a big project and I don't want to risk it being delayed/damaged by problems with the newest version.

I just got a 8 core Mac Pro at work and it has developed a nasty crashing habit. I think that I have narrowed the problem down, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. The machine crashes whenever I view a PowerPoint (08) or Keynote (09) file in presentation mode. In the current setup I have the presentation on one screen and my notes and information on the other screen. I am running dual 24 inch LED monitors (not mirrored) and when I disconnnect one of them, there is no crashing and the presentations work great. I have two NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 video cards.

I know that Microsoft's PowerPoint gives you the ability to work in either Portrait or Landscape. I can't seem to find anything about this for Keynote. Therefore, I am assuming that it does not exist. Please don't tell me that I don't need it.
im trying to convert my ppt to swf or flv AND keep the transitions.
i just want a simple fade to black effort for each slide. nothing fancy.
when i convert it to swf with various programs, none of them keep the ppt transitions....
also, i dont want the swf to be clickable.
I currently use iMovie 7.1.4 on my Mac OS X 10.5.6.
I was using iMovie to make a video, but I couldn't find how to control the time in which transitions pass by. It looks like 0.4 seconds is the default time for each one, but how do you change it to... say, 2 seconds? And yes, the video before and after the 0.4 transition is not longer than it.
So I'm basically asking: How do you control the speed of a transition in iMovie 7.1.4?
yes.. yes i'm fully upgraded to 2.1.7 and have rebooted, reinstalled, and set default settings in iPhoto '09.
all my MRoogling and Googling have led to forums that never found an answer.
i also tried switching to 1.1.3 (i like tiger's front row better) and had massive problems with iPhoto '09... so i will be reinstalling unless there is a fix for that (which i just asked in the original thread)
I'm sure most people suffer from this but here goes.
So I make a presentation on Mac Office powerpoint, everything is fine. I open it up at university on the PC, all is fine. I maybe change some text on a slide and save it again. Open the same file again on my Mac, and it won't open some silly error comes up saying trouble accessing file from mac HD.
Then luckily I have keynote, so I just open it in that and use that.
Point is why does this happen?? Whilst keynote is better, sometimes I have to edit things on a PC at work or uni and then it becomes a giant mess on my mac.
Is there a quick fix, or will I have to throw Mac Office into my growing pile of Microsoft related garbage.
I have an iMac 2.7 Ghz i5 and recently installed Mavericks 10.9.3. I did not realise that it has a bug that stops my Powerpoint working. It opens some of a presentation and has blank slides. It crashes when I try and play.
I would not have downloaded Mavericks if I knew this. I bought Office and I need Powerpoint - I don't want to use open source or other programmes.
How can I get it to work or how do I uninstall Mavericks and return to a good working operating system.

It plays when I add the music to the slide, but if I close Keynote and come back to it the music won't play anymore! I have deleted it and added it again, I have deleted and then remade the slide, but it still isn't working!

I have made a powerpoint presentation for a class. The task was to record ourselves speaking and import the audio files to go along with a slideshow presentation. I recorded in GarageBand and imported the files to iTunes and then into my presentation. The slideshow works on my computer, but once I try to play it on any other computer (both Mac and PC) the audio files are "unavailable" and don't play. What do I need to do so that the files can play?

I'm trying to rip a certain section of the "special features" disc that came with the original movie. The original movie is on the first DVD, and the second disc is all the bonus material. I tried ripping the special features disc in Handbrake, and I only got part of the bonus material, and not the material in particular I wanted. I've looked through all the source titles, and they only show part of the features. How do I get to the features I want using Handbrake?

I'm trying to export an animation as an swf file and want it to loop continuously.So I tick 'loop' in the export settings box. Except the outputted file just doesn't loop and just plays once.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI initially made a slide show of 250 old family photos in iPhoto. It looks great and the cross dissolve function is very smooth.
However, I now need to take portions of music rather than entire songs and blend the songs into each other. This requires that do the slide show in iMovie so can use the timeline to edit the music to fit with certain portions of the slideshow.
The problem that I am running into is that the cross dissolve function in iMovie is jumpy and not smooth like it is in iPhoto. Also, some photos have "stuttering" and flashing between the transitions. I have tried adjusting the cross dissolve time and length of photo and can't seem to get it to look right. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? For example, if I want each photo to be on the screen for 3 seconds, how long should I make the transition? If I remove the transitions, this problem is gone. But then the photos just go from 1 to the other after 3 seconds and the effect is a bit jarring. I'm stumped. In addition, the image quality does not seem as good as in iPhoto - but if I use iPhoto I cannot make a title page or time the music.
It's supposedly the shortcut to Paste Special in Excel 2011. It's not working for me. Maybe I'm hitting the keys wrong? You can see it if you go to the Edit menu. thank you.
