View 4 Replies View RelatedI have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
So, back in the day (last week actually) I always had my iTunes in "mini player mode" on the right hand side on the bottom of my screen, just above the trash bin. When I needed to select a song or a different playlist, I would click the green button, apply my settings, and click the green button again and go back on about my business. However, with iTunes 9, you have to hold the option key to switch to the mini player. I am severly bothered by this, is there any way to hack iTunes with the terminal fix this? I liked it the old way. Who's with me? Also, when iTunes is not the active window, and you switch to mini, the active screen is automatically hidden (like when you push Cmd+H)

I have a PC connected to a 5.1 channel 1000W Speaker system, and I know there are options for remote speakers in iTunes, is there a way to set it up so I can select songs on my MacBook's iTunes, and have the sound come through the PC's Speaker System, even a third party program or whatever?

If I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
Sometimes restarting is not enough: you need to power off your Mac, wait for a little, and power it on again. It could be a script which act like the "schedule" program in system preferences: it would switch off the Mac immediately, the add 1 minute to the current time and switch it on again.

It seems that my new MacBook Pro is finally on its way so I am preparing for the switch from XP to OS. I am pretty much set but still have some questions which I couldn?t find an answer for yet. So here we go:1.Partitions I:Do I need different partitions on a Mac as well? On Windows I always had my System Volume which I tried not to touch at all and then had another partition with all my data to be able to reinstall Windows without having to backup all my data. How does that work on a Mac? Do I need to reinstall Mac OS at least once a year as well because it has become terribly slow? Any other reasons why I should have different partitions?2.Partitions II: I am going to keep a copy of XP running on my Mac as well. I?d like to install it via BootCamp and then use it either with BootCamp or with Parallels or VMWare (prolly the former). Do I have to define the Windows partition beforehand? Because I guess the OS will come preinstalled, right?

The soundcard is working perfectly but I want audio trough every speaker and not just the 2 front speakers. I wonder if there is a plugin for iTunes or OSX in general that makes the audio goes trough every speaker. It may sound stupit but the main reason I bought 5.1 is because I wanted speakers playing all around my room
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have five sets of speakers connected with Airports, but they keep disappearing from iTunes. Sometimes, they re-appear when I reboot the PC; sometimes they do not. Is this a known problem, is there a known solution (or work around?)

I have iTunes 10.6.1 on my Macbook Pro and was using the multiple speakers feature with my 2 airport expresses very successfully until recently. Now when I try to use multiple speakers within iTunes it recognizes those speakers but can't connect. I've tried resetting both airport expresses but nothing. I have all the recent upgrades and haven't done anything out of the ordinary to change things up.
I also know it isn't the airport expresses because I have another product called Airfoil that streams music wirelessly from any source to those speakers via the airport express and that works fine. So it's definitely something specifically to do with iTunes.
One last thing, when I stream iTunes via the Airfoil I have no problems. So again, it's definitely something to do with iTunes.

Party tomorrow night. I can stream music from my Imac computer to Apple TV (attached to my hifi system).
I'd like to have the imac speakers (external speakers) playing at the same time as the applt TV speakers. Seems that's possible in itunes by simply selecting both speakers.... however....
There is a sync issue.
The Apple TV is probably 1/3 second out of sync with the imac. I'm going to hardwire the apple TV to the router (the Mac is already hardwired to a router) which should help.
I've tried wireless connection from Mac to router to Apple TV and it makes the delay worse. Seems I really need to somehow insert a delay the signal frmo the Mac to the Mac's external speakers....
Is that even possible or am I wasting my time thinking about using both speaker systems concurrently?

When I purchased my MacBook Pro, with Lion installed, several months ago, I set up the system with my name as administrator, using a form of my name which was different from that which I used on my old iMac. I then went through the migration process, transferring all my stuff from the iMac to my MacBook Pro. I then had two administrators in the MacBook Pro. As everything seemed to be working ok I recently deleted the original MBP administrator setup. Now, when I attempt to play a song in iTunes I get the message “There are no speakers connected to the AirPlay device’XxxxXxx’”. The name of the Airplay device referred to is my administrator name which is no longer in use and has now been deleted. In other words, iTunes seems to think it is linked to the administrator as set up when I first acquired the MacBook Pro, before migrating my setup from the iMac.The MacBook Pro speakers are working ok with other applications such as Safari and FaceTime.

The monitor's audio interface connects to my iMac via the headphone jack on the back of the system.
This may or may not be a stupid proposition, but here it goes: I have a Klipsch Promedia GMX 2.1a speaker system which I like very much. However, I was wondering if I could replace the existing satellite speakers with bookshelf speakers (like Klipsch RB-10 s). I'm hoping this will work because I want to increase the audio output of my system without spending money on an amplifier.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am streaming iTunes to another room using an Audioengine AW1 (over usb, not the analog input) and it works fine. Looking at JACK audio, Soundflower or Apple's AudioMIDI utility, I feel I should be able to use one or a combination of these resources to output iTunes to both the AW1 and my desktop's headphone port. Unfortunately, I can't seem to perform both. Well, technically I can in using a "y" audio cable to output from the Mac headphone port to headphones and to the analog-in on the AW1's, but that really doesn't work adequately. The output volumes are considerably lower and tied together. I am looking to figure out how to add a usb audio device as another, and simultaneous output.

I have checked all sound levels including Audio Midi in utilities. In system preference the output is Digital Optical and nothing else is available to select. It also says this sound output has no controls - is this correct? The sound icon in the menu top right is greyed out and I can't adjust the level. I have an Apple TV and have turned off airplay on that? Also have checked computer speakers (not Apple TV) in iTunes. I had this problem before but rebooting fixed it.My son plays Minecraft on this computer and watches millions of uTube stuff. He may have used his earphones then. Could this be the problem? Nothing is muted in sys pref or utilities audio midi. The chimes work when starting up. The mic sound levels are moving.
