ITunes :: How To Sync External Speakers

Jun 7, 2012

Party tomorrow night. I can stream music from my Imac computer to Apple TV (attached to my hifi system).

I'd like to have the imac speakers (external speakers) playing at the same time as the applt TV speakers.  Seems that's possible in itunes by simply selecting both speakers.... however....

There is a sync issue.

The Apple TV is probably 1/3 second out of sync with the imac. I'm going to hardwire the apple TV to the router (the Mac is already hardwired to a router) which should help.

I've tried wireless connection from Mac to router to Apple TV and it makes the delay worse. Seems I really need to somehow insert a delay the signal frmo the Mac to the Mac's external speakers....

Is that even possible or am I wasting my time thinking about using both speaker systems concurrently?

Mac OS X (10.7.1)

ITunes :: Airplay Can't Connect To Remote Speakers Or Multiple Speakers When Speakers Are Visible In It

Apr 22, 2012

I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date.  Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue:  After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes.   The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect.  If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.

When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility.   You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.

Hardware :: AirPort Extreme And External HDD - IPhone / ITunes Sync?

Aug 6, 2010

Right now I have have an external HDD connected to my MacMini, have my iTunes library on the external HDD and then set that library as the library on my iMac. That allows me to sync my iPhone with my MacMini's external HDD when over wifi when connected to my iMac. However, when I move that same external hard drive to the Extreme, set it as my iTunes library on my iMac I can watch video and listen to music on my iMac, but when I try to sync the iPhone iTunes just gives me a beach ball and I have to force quit. I find it strange that I can sync my iPhone to my MacMini's external hard drive over the network when I connect my iPhone to my iMac, but I can't sync to that same external hard drive when I have it connected to my Extreme. Am I doing something wrong or is that functionality just not there?

OS X :: How To Get Audio On External Speakers

Aug 28, 2010

I had audio coming out my external speakers.

Then I fiddled with both Soundflower and Audacity for some audio recording.

I have since then uninstalled both but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get audio coming out my external speakers again.

Everything is coming thru my imac speakers.

Apple>Sys Pref> Sound> give me no options to direct audio to external speakers.

MacBook Pro :: Very Little Sound From External Speakers?

Apr 15, 2012

After upgrading to Lion, there seems to be very little sound coming from my external speakers. Speakers work with other devices but not so much with MacBook Pro.  In iTunes, the volumn slider is maxed out with the speaker volumn on the keyboard maxed out too.  Used to blast out the house, but not now.

Don't know if it's as a result of the upgrade or not.  I did a PRAM reset but still nothing.

Mac Pro :: Computer Noise / Hum In External Speakers

Dec 9, 2014

Just set up a new Mac Pro (8-core) and plugged in my old M-Audio powered speakers (about 10yrs old but still going strong!). I use a mini-jack splitter cable that outputs stereo RCA to the speakers, plugged into the speaker port on the nMP. There is a constant, low hum coming out of one of the speakers; it sounds a little like CPU noise and it is NOT affected by volume settings from the Mac or the speaker knob. It's the right-side speaker which is unpowered, connected to the left unit via speaker wire (the left unit has the power switch and audio inputs and is not affected.)

I've tried moving the speaker wire up and away from power cables (two Dell monitors directly next to the speakers) but that doesn't work; it doesn't sound quite like a DC hum anyway though. The speakers aren't heavily shielded (they usually pick up interference from an iPhone placed too close) so maybe it's always going to be an issue. I used to have them plugged into a 2006 Mac Pro via an analog mixer which I've removed from the chain.

IMac :: External Speakers With Crackle And Electronic Pop

Oct 28, 2006

I have just bought the Acoustic Energy Aego sat/sub speakers for my 24" iMac...and excellent they are too. A huge improvement on the built in speakers. However, I occasionally get an electronic 'pop' or crackle from the satellites. Only happens occasionally. If I plug the speakers in to my iPod (2nd gen) all is perfect, so I assume the iMac is picking up interference from the mains or network and passing it on. I assume my options are to try a better gangway adapter (or UPS) with noise filtering, or perhaps (but this seems a bit overkill) a USB audio output device rather than using the iMac audio out. I cannot begin to describe just how much better the AE Aego's are, but the interference is annoying...
