Applications :: How To Recover Unsaved Final Draft Document
Mar 5, 2009
I didn't realize final draft had autosave disabled by default. Long story short, the program crashed, my work along with it. I didn't save the work. It was not auto saved. Would like to recover the work if possible.
I opened a web page from a browser via Print -> PDF -> Open PDF in Preview but then unintentionally close that window and the PDF was not saved - is there any way to restore it? And no, that page in the browser can no longer be opened.
I have a new Macbook Pro where I have installed FD7 (upgraded). I worked on a 105 page script on Friday, adding a few lines which increased the page count to 106. I saved it. Printed it. And Closed it. Sunday, I re-open the same file only to discover now FD7 has clocked the pages at 108. It appears that on page 10 FD7 'pushed' forward the last four lines onto the next page. Then, throughout the entire script - every so often - it would 'push' more lines into the forward page amounting to an increase in 2 pages. FD7 is glitchy, I know, often times when working in a script where I cut three pages, the total page count didn't change for a while after making the change. I did not mess with the 'tight' feature, nor were there any changes other than shortening one line. I even converted it to a pdf and emailed it to several people... now it's two pages longer, not a good thing. Or has this happened to anyone -- PC or Mac?
Complete OS X freeze. Hard re-start, Went to re-open a pages document I was working on. It won't open: "not a valid Pages document". Thing is, I can view the document using QuickLook, no problem. Any way I can recover the text? (Tried TextEdit, Text Wrangler & BBedit, no joy). Why doesn't Pages keep backup / Autosave files?
I installed Lion and now I can no longer use Word and Final Draft? I had no idea these things would "no longer be supported". I read up on the upgrade and saw nothing on this. I didn't back up recently..
I need a new laptop and I've decided to make the move from PC to Mac. I think the thing that's bothered me most about the dell laptop I've been using for the past 4 years is that it's quite heavy (I think somwhere around 8 pounds) and bulky.
I fell in love with the powerbook 12", but held off in part for financial reasons, and in part because I was hoping there would be a 12" macbook pro.
I hear great things about the macbook, but trying it out in the store, it seems to be just as big as my Dell and almost as heavy (well, at least quite a bit heavier than what I remember the 12" feeling like).
at $1199, apple is offering a refurbished powerbook which seems to offer as much if not more than the macbook
I'm a comic book writer that travels quite a lot, so here's what I'd like:
To be able to use MS Word and Final draft To be able to use photoshop (really just to open photoshop files, not to do much to the artwork itself) To have something very light to travel with, but still big enough to do a significant amount of work on without straining my eyes or feeling like the keyboard is cramped and I guess possibly to play games, notably civ iv, although it seems neither the powerbook or the macbook is good for that (the powerbook at least has a dedicated videocard)
it's mostly the size thing that's causing the hangup...I think the macbook is just big enough to be a problem on planes, not fitting on the fold out tray.
Whenever I try to print a document of any type a diagonal "draft" watermark appears. The printer does not matter, and the application does not matter. This needs to be resolved fast, because I cannot look professional if everything I print is a draft.
Preview's new annotations features are awesome. I'm finally able to read on my computer and make notes in an easy way. This is all good. Except that there apparently is no auto-save feature in Preview. I was working on a PDF and had lots of notes and then accidentally hit the keyboard shortcut for "Move selected PDF to Trash" (this, IMO, should not even exist, or at least should be something more complicated than command+delete or, at the very least, have a confirmation of deletion window). Anyway, once I moved the PDF back to its original file location and opened it back up, all the notes (lots of them) that had been added before the last save were now gone. I'm stupid, I know. Anyone know of anyway that I might be able to recover my changes from some temp file stored somewhere or something? Oh, and when I select File>Open Recent, it's always empty. Not sure why, not an option in Preview Preferences.
I have MacBook Pro and using MS Word.My word document is locked and I need to recover inserted text.Is there a way to recover the word document after I do a forced shutdown?
I have a co-worker that took a ton of notes as I went along and did the "driving" of installing some new server/app and we were going to use that to do the next build. Well it looks like he never hit save one time after starting the doc and then his MBP crashed and it's all gone.
Is there an autosave or temp file created somewhere that it'd be possible to recover this from?
I recently got a new mac and had backed up all my saved data onto an external hard drive with my old one. When I was setting up my new mac I recovered it from an existing backup (my old computer) and everything seemed to be back to normal. On my old computer I was in the process of making a video with Final Cut Pro X and made sure that it was backed up onto the external hard drive. On my new mac when I tried to recover it, it appeared as a file that couldn't be opened with FCP. Within FCP it had the video but all of the files were missing. I started to relink all of the files but there has to be a faster way. How do I recover this file? Is there a way to just import the backup without having to ever relink files?
I have been editing my latest independent film for the last six months. Taken three months longer because there’s lots of effects and plug-ins and FCP7 would crash literally every 3 minutes, using up memory. I was just ready to output my movie after six months and a site told me to use the render manager to delete unused renders. Well, it deleted ALL my renders on all sixteen separate files of the film (had to have that many project files because of memory and crashing problems). Now I’ve lost my entire six months work and can’t re-render because the software and plug-ins won’t let me, and many of the plug-in licenses (expensive) like Sapphire have expired.
Is there anyway to get my render files back or am I dead in the water. Literally I will be dead in the water because they can’t be re-render because of the FCP 7 issues.
I recently moved all my fcpx projects/events to a new Harddrive - I thought I did this correctly by copying/duplicating all projects/events from within FCPX.
When I last used FCPX all the projects/events were there - no issues. Also, when I look at package contents - everything is still there in terms of events and file sizes.
All the library files are on an external hard drive, on an encrypted disk image. Now a week later I have tried to open FCPX and I get the following error
"The document “MND_Z_FCPX” could not be opened. Read-only file system" and nothing will open.
Have checked permissions - these all seem in order. OSX is10.9.5
I am using Apple Mail, and ive just compiled an email containing a lot of text and some photos, Then I saved it as a Draft , when I try to open the Draft I get these messages . All my other drafts open OK , Is there any way to retrieve this email draft ..? Thanks
If I create an email that is saved as a draft while I'm still writing the email, when it finally sends Mail doesn't delete the email from the drafts folder.
I only use MobileMe in Mail, so I'm not sure if this is a problem with MobileMe or with Mail. It happens periodically on both my MacBook and iMac.
I am doing an assignment that's due in for uni tomorrow and the Microsoft word document has frozen to that rainbow thing, and I cant force quit it as its not saved I was in the middle of it.
I tried to open a single image in Preview (Version 6.0.1 (765.4)). Instead, it opened just over 500 images (out of 2300 on the hard drive) as "Untitled 1" "Untitled 2" etc. Over three hundred of those were grouped in a single window (that is, one of them was visible large, with thumbnails of all in the "drawer"). Why it opened the files as "Untitled", nor, in fact, why it opened them at all. I had only clicked on one to open it. I quit Preview, but upon reopening, all the "Untitled" images were back. The same thing happened when opening Preview after restart. The only way I could get rid of them was to close their windows one at a time. Of course, when closing something that's unsaved, the computer asks whether to save it or not, but I cannot click Command-D (as in previous systems), I have to click the Don't Save button each and every time. This takes ages with so many windows open.
Well, since I had no choice, I did that for the couple hundred images that had opened in their own window(s). Then I tried to close the images in the single window. I would do Command-W, then click Don't Save. The dialog closed, but the image didn't go away. Then a new Save dialog box would open with a different "untitled" number specified, and I would do it again. And again. And again. The images, however, did not disappear. Then I saw that the names (Untitled 101, Untitled 204, etc) of some of the images I had previously attempted to close were coming back again. They had not actually closed. I could not get rid of that window with three hundred images open in it. If I quit Preview, then reopened it, ALL of the 500 plus images opened again, even the ones I had successfully closed. The application is now useless until I find a fix.
how to embed an image with a link, or embed a Microsoft Word document with a hyperlink built within the document -- not as an attachment into my email -- but where it shows as the email content when opened! Does ANYONE know the secret? Can it be done, or not? My PC clients do it all the time easily. Then I want to be able to send the embedded image/document (not as an attachment, but visable within the email when opened) to many email contacts at once, BUT the individuals receiving them DO NOT SEE the other email contacts.
just wondering if anyone knows how to stop attachments in the email i am sending from appearing in the body of my email as the full sized document.i am hoping to find an option that will allow me to only have a document icon with the name of the document.
so my mother was using my mac, and she was using word to type something...of course she never saved anything, and i couldnt get a good description of what happened.im thinking she did a show desktop expose' then she lost it some how!
My black macbook had its HD erased and OS reinstalled by my colleges help desk because it wouldn't network properly (seemed extreme to me) and I have recovered all of my files but, since the guy used a leopard upgrade disk I lost all of the iLife applications. Is there anyway to recoup them (I do not have a disk) or download them off the internet. Also I lost my microsoft office 2004 student edition, I have the software key but not the disk. Can I download this anywhere? I've been looking and I can only find the office updates online. Help me out its finals week and I have papers to write.
Is there any way or program to recover data from an external hdd with a ntfs-structure that has been deleted using ntfs for mac (paragon) on osx?
I have tried several windows apps but i'm only able to recover the files that have been deleted in windows, the files deleted using osx don't even show up in the applications.
I formatted a mini-DVD of my webcam by mistake. I did a 'quick-format'. Do you know a good software (if I have to pay it's ok) on OSX to recover the data from it?
