Applications :: Track Markers In Itunes?

Another idea for itunes. I wonder why they have not implemented this yet...track markers. A lot of times I have a set or other 1 hour - mp3's in my itunes, but I sometimes like to fast forward to certain songs in my car....car fast forward is not as good as itunes fast forward so it sometimes takes forever....it would be nice if we could place track markers in itunes then that info is saved in the mp3 or something....so that when playing fro my iphone i can just fast forward to those markers.....know what i mean?
..it would be ncie to be able to do htis without splitting the original long mp3 into a bunch of small ones...

This is an extension of the 'Best DVD Copy Program' but I figured this would warrant it's own thread.
As stated in the other thread, I'm ripping all my DVDs to take with me to college. I'm using handbrake to rip h.264 movies. Now I want to add chapter markers to my movies. Is there any online database that has chapter marker timecode and names for DVD movies that I can use as a reference? I know that you can pull the timecode from the DVD itself, but i have some DVDs that do not list the names of the chapter markers.

I just ripped some TV episodes from DVDs I have with Handbrake, only to realize that the episodes don�t have chapters. This means that since the �Create Chapter Markers� or whatever button was checked, I still get a chapters button, with only one chapter. I wish I�d just unchecked it, but at this point, is there any way to just remove the chapters?

i just bought it and am having a little trouble exporting a track i made. i didnt do much to it, just cut it and can not figure out how to export. i go to the export option and then try and save it to the desktop but it is not there when i go to find it

Is it just me but has 9.1 update brought a longer Song Length Bar (The bit in-between the two times showing how far through a song you are)
I just looked at it 10 minutes ago and it seemed noticeably different.

Gonna be moving from my old mac onto a shiny new MacBook and while its easy enough to take over the contents of my iTunes and the iTunes Library file over to the new machine to preserve my play lists & play counts, I want to be able to take over the CD track name and information so if I put in a CD I had personally amended the information to, the information is still there as apposed to just connecting to the great music database in the sky and downloading the information like it does when I put in a fresh music CD for the first time. When I copied over the Library file to my new machine and put in a CD that had already been done it went ahead and connected to the database instead so obviously the CD information is not stored there. Anyone have any idea what file I should be looking at to copy over or is this going to be horribly difficult?

I have imported many cd's into itunes and I know how to do it with info as long as it is a store bought cd or a copy of a store bought cd. I have been looking forever and cant find a way to import a mixed cd into itunes and have it recognize the info for each individual track. Is there a plugin or a separate program that could assist in this. I know you can do it one track at a time but modern

I wanted a visual representation of all my videos, regardless of format, in iTunes so I've used a combination of QT reference files for AVIs and placeholder M4Vs for DVD rips. To get the placeholders I Handbraked a 7-second clip of a DVD to M4V and applied metadata. This works to get the coverart in iTunes but the minor annoyance to my OCD nature is that the track length shows as 7 seconds (see image). Is there anyway to hack this information somewhere so I can show the actual runtime?

Is there a way to stop iTunes from embedding artwork into every file(track), and instead store 1 copy per album?
From what I remember thats the way cover flow used to work. Why the switch to embedding artwork in every file? A extra 20+MB per album is just ridiculous(Using a 800x800 PNG).
I know its possible to store the album artwork without embedding it in the file. Because I have a few older albums that still use the old method (storing only a single copy of the artwork in /iTunes/Album Artwork/).

I have been importing my large music CD collection and midway through, I have noticed that the first track of EVERY disc has NOT been copied to my library. The remaining tracks (Track 2 and up) were imported fine. When each CD was importing, everything looked normal and I got a green checkmark next to the first track. What's even more bizarre is that now, I cannot recreate this problem because iTunes imports the first track of every CD as normal. What the heck?! I'm going to have to re-import the first track of every disc now... Did a Google search and got nothing. I'm running the latest, up-to-date iTunes (v9.2) and Mac OS X (v10.6.4).

Select Shuffle Mode. Pause your music, or make sure nothing is playing, then go to Minimize view.
Now hit FFW or REV. What appears in the track info box? Nothing, right? iTunes doesn't show you what song it has shuffled to. It only works if you are playing, not in pause.
Surely this is wrong? Sometimes you want to select song before playing it, right? This works fine on my Ipod. Everyone else have this problem?

I have a lot of CD's that are compilations made in my friend's iTunes, but for some reason my ITunes is not reading any of the track info. My buddy says this is a very rare event for him and no suggestions as why I am not getting the track info. I've already tried unchecking the "search the internet for info" option.

I tried to import an MP3 file. I can see the MP3 file in the iTunes Music folder hierarchy, but the track doesn't show up anywhere in my Library.

Over the last couple of weeks the songs either on itunes or my ipod will skip to the next song half way through the song or about 10sec before the end.
The hard drive was recenty replaced but this has only just started.

I have been using iTunes with PC for about 5 years or more and never really had any problems ripping my CD collection, even when I switched at one point to using dbpowerAMP and then importing into itunes manually. I'm using itunes to rip again now.
Now I have my first mac (mac mini 2010). I am starting to import parts of my CD collection that I never had room for on my old notebook PC.
So before I went to bed last night I tried to rip and import 3 CDs using itunes exclusively now to do the ripping because I have come to the realization that itunes plus AAC is good enough for my ears and especially my equipment (ipod classic 160gb & Senn PX-100's). Now these 3 CDs I know for a fact the iTunes Store sells and definitely has the artwork and track info for.
Well, the first 2 CDs loaded artwork and track info fine after I remembered to check in the settings about the artwork anyway..
Then comes the 3rd and newest CD I tried, Eagles OF Death Metal's "Heart On". I stick it in the mac mini's slot *giggles* and then the iTunes pane at the top center of the screen keeps scrolling and saying something like "searching for grace-note whatever".. Then after about 2 or 3 minutes of that it just gives up and acts like it doesn't know the CD and lists the songs as "track 1, track 2" etc..
Now this CD is immaculate. It has been ripped before on my PC with no problem. I double checked to make sure the iTunes store sells it because in the past I've had to download my own artwork if it's something they don't sell in their store.
So I'm at a loss here I don't want to have to enter all this info manually as I have about 500 CDs to rip and only being on number 3 I didn't know if it was just this one being trouble, or what to expect how many are going to do this?

With the latest versions of iTunes my music albums don't seem to play in order of track number anymore. Is there a way to set or establish play order?

Just upgraded to iTunes 10.6. Now when I view an album in my music library, the tracks are sorted by Artist, not by track number. I can sort by Genre, etc by clicking the tab above the column, but not for track.

I got the latest Itunes version and the weird thing is that I can't fastforward songs with my track (when you just swipe the trackpad with 2 fingers) and this problem only exists with VBR music files !!

I bought No Place Like Home from Manoa DNA. All of the tracks playback except one, track 10 Ka Nohona Pili Kai/Nada Sou Sou. Through the song as it plays, when it gets to timestamp 1:05, it stops playing and plays track 11. After timestamp 1:05 doesnt finish playing the rest of the song.

I had my Mac (OS X Snow Leopard) speak a text in TextEdit and it was "Vicki" that spoke (that was right), but when using the service "Add to iTunes as a Spoken Track" and later listening to the resulting m4a file a male voice was talking! Please help me to get Vicki to talk into the m4a file!

How do you combine 2 or more tracks into one track, and how do you divide one track into multiple tracks? I've heard that you can do this via garage band. It would be nice if I could just do it on i-tunes, but if I can't, what is the garage band method?

Since install of Lion a few weeks ago I have persistent problems scanning. I have an HP Photosmart C3110 and use Preview to Scan. I will get an error message "an error occured while communicating with the scanner". If I disconnect scanner then turn it on it will work but I have to do this after each shut down or sleep on my macbook pro. I have tried trashing prefs and repairing permissions. I am on mcp OS 10.7.3?

I recently purchased a macbook air. All my music files and mp3s are stored on my partners cloud drive (WD Mycloud) I have tried changing my permissions, but they are all read/write. my little padlocks are all unlocked and as far as I can tell none of my music files are protected.
So WHY can I not change any of my track infos that state the whole album/artist/track as the track name and everything else as unknown and i cannot change this!
