Applications :: Finding Application That Analyzes Hdd And Lists Which Folders/files Are Largest?
Aug 23, 2010I was just thinking about the stuff I have on my HD, and I'm not really sure what is eating up the 500gb HD I have installed in it (with only 50gb or so available at the moment). The usual culprits (iTunes and iPhoto library) are both on externals.
And i don't *think* I've got nearly 450gb worth of audio work on here.
So my question is, is there an application that will scan through my system HD and tell me which olders/files are taking up the most space? This may give me some idea of what I should start getting rid of.

Nov 11, 2010Can anyone recommend any software that will help me build and maintain a list of home inventory for insurance purposes? Ideally it will sync to multiple computers and the cloud (automatically) for backup. Enable me to group items into different categories and rooms. And generate itemised documents that can easily be converted into PDFs, Emails or Printed Documents for submitting actual insurance claims (hopefully I'll never need to do it). I found Compartments [URL] that gets mixed reviews. I'm going to test it out later, but before I invest too much time in that I wondered if anyone had any better recommendations.

Mar 4, 2010I have been a long time PC user and am a mobile PC engineer but have only recently got a Mac for training purposes as a lot more of my customers are moving over to Mac's.For the most part I can self learn and get tips from google and these forums but I am stuck on this problem. I am having trouble with moving contact groups from 2004 Entourage to 2008 Entourage, everything else has pulled over fine including individual contacts, messages etc.It just wont pull these groups over, I've tried exporting to an .rge exporting to tab separated values and drag and drop on to memory stick. There is no error but the groups don't appear in the contacts list?

Mar 11, 2010I probably still have my PC hat on but here is my problem.
In Address Book on my IMac, I have set up numerous cards with name address phone numbers email addresses, notes etc. Each card has AT LEAST ONE email address but can have up to THREE email addresses (home,work, other).
I have taken 13 cards and created a GROUP
Two questions:
1. Can I email the address card or copy of the card to an email address for review and updating?
2. Can I send an email to ALL OF THE EMAIL ADDRESS in the GROUP?
I am thinking that to do this (#2) I might have to set up individual address cards for each email address for each group member--yuk. I just want to send to home, office and other by just clicking on JONES or SMITH or better yet the distribution list I have set up.
ITunes :: Sync 2 Lists Of It?
Mar 29, 2012I have a macbook and windows 7 desktop. I have iTunes on both, but I download songs on both, so when I sync my iPod shuffle with my macbook's itunes, it might not have songs that my desktop has. Is there a way that I can have it so I can use my home network to sync my itunes list on my desktop and laptop (so if one list doesn't have a song that the other has, it gets it)?

Aug 28, 2014I run Contacts on both my iPad2 and my iMac; I find that in the listing to the left of the Contacts on the iMac, 'All iCloud' appears twice; one with 519 entries (which is correct) and the other with 78 entries, 77 of them also in the other one. They are synced via iCloud, not iTunes; I've tried to sort this by exporting the vCards to my desktop and then attempting to trash Contacts and reinstall but this is not permitted as it's 'required by OSX', which seems reasonable. It sometimes becomes a problem when I'm using lists and discover that some people are not on the list I am using because - for some inexplicable (to me, at least) reason, they're on the other iCloud list.

May 24, 2009I have an imac g5 (don't remember system software and can't look 'cause it won't boot!) when I boot in safe mode (hold down shift key) it starts with desktop pic but nothing else. In the top left corner first line is
system failure cpu 0 cod 00000007 corrupt skip lists
I've tried:
resetting smu
resetting pram
starting up from system software disk Tiger (have multiple computers and don't know if that's what's on this computer or not)
I either get
a gray screen with a power icon saying I should restart
a blue screen
desktop pic with above code
black screen

Dec 26, 2010I've just used my time machine to migrate my old macbook's contents to my brand new macbook air. While I was watching it restore 803,678 files to the new machine, I was wondering how many of them are unused applications. I've stupidly never set up separate user accounts before this, and I'm sure there are any number of applications that were placed on my old machine by my kids, my husband, and various visitors to our house. Since I'm using time machine instead of starting fresh, I know those have been transferred to the new machine. I've never worried too much about this situation before now, as about every three years I've bought a new machine, migrated the files I need to the new machine, wiped the old one clean, and handed it down to one or the other of my kids.
But now I'm realizing that with time machine, everything on my computer is now forever...everything anyone has ever put on it has been transferred to time machine and now to my new machine. I don't want to be operating with years-old versions of kid's games and apps on every machine I set up from now on for the rest of my life. Is there anything out there that specifically looks for stuff that hasn't been used for a specified number of years and asks something like, "Barney & Friends was installed 1/16/2003 and was last used 10/18/2005. Delete Barney & Friends and all associated files, yes or no?"

Feb 2, 2010I'm looking for an advanced notepad for editing HTML/CSS. I'm also wondering whether there's a notepad that has good note-taking functionality as I'm going to use my MBP at University next year.
I also need a cleaner (CCleaner) type program that will keep my Mac in-tune. I'm wondering whether I actually need to keep it in-tune seeing as it's running probably the best operating system in the world which doesn't have all the crap entailed with it.
I'm going to maybe invest in Photoshop in the distant future but is there something that really has the power of PS in a nutshell? I really can't afford the prices they are charging so I'm wondering whether I can just nudge my way round it all and get another decent editor.
