I have a Samsung external drive from which I can play and view these small discs that are not compatable with iMac. I need to upload from these discs to a New Project or a New Event in iMovie. I cannot figure a way to upload for editing and produce a finished movie. My iMac forced me to get a Canon HF-R100 camcorder with an SD card for the iMac SD slot.
View 2 RepliesI recently bought a new Sony Handycam to upload videos onto my Mac and the guys at Best Buy assured me it was Mac compatible. The driver that came with the camera has a Mac guide, but no apps for uploading.
iPhoto detects my camera and will import photos, but seems the videos are coming up as incompatible.
I have a Sony DCR-PC100 Camcorder that uses mini DV tape for recording, and am trying to get the video onto my mac. I have tried in iMovie '06,'08 and Final Cut Express, and I keep getting the same problem. I connect the camera via firewire, and set the camera to VTR. The app recognizes the camera (Final Cut even specifies the model number correctly) and can access it enough so that when you hit play it starts the camera playing. But it never gets video or audio coming into the computer, instead it just keeps the capture preview as black or blue. Eventually it just color wheels for a while and freezes or has to be shut down. I am using an iMac G5, but have tried it on an Intel MacBook Pro, and the same problem happens. I also tried it on a PC and it worked fine, so I dont think it is the camera, but I have a lot of video to upload, so I need to do it on my iMac. Does anyone know why this would be happening, and what some possible solutions would be?

When i insert the disk follow the instructions as far inputting the password to allow access and then the screen comes up with installation failed contact apple. Bought last June from apple. Have already needed new hard drive.

It's remarkably annoying...if I want to upload photos onto my flickr account, I have to move all my iPhoto pics into a picture folder first, and then upload it from there.
Is there any way I can just click upload and browse through and choose my photos straight from iPhoto?

I used to do this on my PC by recording directly from the cd into a program called audacity. I have downloaded Audacity for Mac but I can't figure out how to do this. Is there anyway I can upload my created single page to my google apps domain name and bypass the crappy google apps page creator. I was really looking forward to this feature as I use both websites regularly, and assumed I would be able to upload just one picture, and choose what album I would add that photo to online. But no, iPhoto needs me to have an entirely new Flickr album matching an entire iPhoto event.

When I try exporting using Compressor to the mp4 format, the sound quality is there, but the video plays at half speed and has vertical lines in it. I've tried it several times, and have even first exported a .mov file from FCP, then used Compressor only to have the same results.

I'm trying use my sony digital 8 camcorders by using the firewire 800 port on my iMac 24inch.
Result: No image.
I have 2 sony Digital 8 camcorders: TRV 265 and TRV 238
Both work fine when connected using the Firewire 400 port on the Mac, in imovie etc, yahoo messenger and CamTwist etc
I have connected my camcorder to my Mac with a rocketfish firewire cable, but the Mac doesn't find the camcorder. I'm trying to import my videos to my Mac in iMovie.

When I try to upload photos to Facebook I get the "Set Up" window. I log in to my account and once it is on it tells me to close the window and go back to the application, but then it will ask me again to "Set Up" the account. It will continue doing this forever.

My computer has never had a problem with uploading anything before. It would always open the window (Finder?), I would select the file, and it would upload it. Today, it just stopped letting that window open. It will flash the window for a second, and then it would disappear. It's not hiding behind the safari window, nor is it in any of my spaces. I've tried restarting my computer, and resetting everything that I know to reset in Safari (pop up settings, cookies, cache, etc.)
