I noticed 1 of the 2 wires wasn't connected to the wi-fi card. Wireless runs perfectly, and everything else seems to work regardless.
It was the wire on the left that wasn't connected.
Also, I love how the A1181 I bought when Apple first announced the WhiteBook still runs fast and smooth and is so easily self-serviced. Can't say that about any PC laptop.
I need a CD drive #661-4287 around $90 new. So many water damaged macbook parts out there. How much does this affect this part?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi purchased two systems, both A1181 machines. one had a functional logic board but screen and clam shell were toast. the other only had the outer case with functional screen. i tried taking the clam shell from the one machine and attaching it to the one with the functional logic board. everything went well until the end when i tried to connect the three wires on the left side of the screen to the logic board. there is a gray and black single wire that connect to the video card i am guessing, and the last connection, which is comprised of 4 small black wires doesn't seem to match the connection on the logic board.
i am wondering if there are logic boards specific to different macbooks. having the same model number is a little confusing. i also found the keyboard connection didn't fit as well as most keyboard connections i have made in the past. i was able to turn the machine on with the power button, but without connecting the last 4-wire connection i didn't get anything on the screen. just a chime.
can i update my black macbook 13' A1181 OS to OS X Lion? Even better, can i updadate it to Mountain Lion OS?

Starts to power up from either mains supply or battery, but always switches off after anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes. Chimes, usually gets as far as screen coming on etc but then you hear the power cut and it just switches off (sometimes gets as far as login screen). Have tried NVRAM reset SMC etc.

I use a third party app., MacStock Manager. I have to resize the window every time it is opened and wonder if I'm stuck with this situation? This is the only time a window is not the same size as when it was closed. Using a new iMac with Snow Leopard.

At first i get the white apple logo en the round indicator and then the screen turns blue/turcuse and it takes aprox 10min before i see the desktop. Its fast but not very fast to boot into safemode. When the computer is all booted up everything work great!Â
Ive tried to reinstall Snow Lion after i formated the drive but without any luck. Ive resetted SMC and PRAM. The superdrive has stopped work to, when i insert a disk i spinnsup for a min or a half then it ejects the disc.
I installed snow leopard now thru a external dvd via usb. AND! I almost forgot, the computer doesent get out of sleepmode after i closed the lid, Â

I have a white macbook a1181 and it stopped charging the battery, it runs fine off of the magsafe adapter and the orange light comes on the adapter when the battery is installed and when it's first turned on it shows the battery but says 0% then after a few moments it brings up the x over the battery like it's not even there. I have changed out the battery connector, got a new battery, cleaned the contacts on the magsafe adapter and the magsafe internal connector with alchohol and cotton swab.

I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I was using my MBP when I noticed that the display (the built in one) looked a little washed out. To make sure my color profile was set to the correct one, I opened up the display panel in System Preferences. The moment I opened it, the display snapped back to its regular appearance. As far as I can tell, it goes into the washed out version after going to screensaver and coming back, and going into display prefs is the only way to restore it. Anyone seen this before or know how to keep it from doing this?

I just opened my MBP and I found this black gunk on parts of it... it wiped off pretty easily but on the top of it there's one small scratch that isn't going away. Should I worry about this? I didn't even touch it and it had a scratch on it. It's very small but it still really bugs me. It just bugs me that I just turned it on and there's already a scratch.

View 3 Replies View RelatedTo resolve the Macbook Pro 2010 (13") not being able to sleep when the lid is open. I even dl-ed this one app called "Please Sleep" that claimed to solve the issue to no avail. My energy saver power settings have me un-check marking the box that says "turn off hard disks when possible". I have my screen saver kicking in 5 minutes, display sleep going at the 10th minute, and then finally the computer sleep itself at 20 minutes. These are under the "plugged" in condition.
Often times I will leave my lid open, go off and do whatever. Come back to find the screen turned off, and no blinking sleep light. Instead I'll press some keys and find myself on the purple background/initial USER log in screen. Upon logging in all my initial boxes, windows, apps are closed and I am forced to re-open all of them all over. Is it correct to assume that this is a widely recognized issue with the Uni-MBP?

I am a recent convert to the Mac. I have not found it an easy transition: not by any means. Absolutely love the iPhone and my iPad - but the MacBook Pro has been a huge disappointment. It is in serious danger of becoming nothing more than just a nice thing to look at. I am really struggling to get to grips with what are much more than just nuances over Windows. I am sure that, initially, I had no problem with "saving a version" - now, all of a sudden it says that: "... could not be saved. You don't have permission." It tells me to find the document in Finder, and then look in "get info" - I do that. I have Read and Write permissions. I have unlocked the document, I have given "others" read/write permissions - I have tried everything, but still no joy.

My disc drive isn't working at all - it doesn't even accept the disc or make a noise to accpet it/eject it. It doesn't make any noise when I click the eject button or do anything.
I had a repair done to my mac a few weeks ago when the graphics card stopped working, I've only just attempted to put a disc in since - I don't know if the repair could have effected it at all.

I have a macbook pro mid 2012, and when I close the lid of my mac, then when I open it back up, it just won't start up again, it would just show a black screen, I put my ear on top of where the HDD was mounted onto, and I could hear the sound of the HDD, so I have tried putting in a mouse, normally the LEDs light up, but this time it didn't. So i just thought the HDD was too old, so I got a new western digital blue 1tb HDD, and installed maverick 10.9.4 on it, and I set it up, but it still didn't wok...

I just got a bunch of Photoshop styles in the form of .asl files and tried to load them on Photoshop, but Photoshop didn't recognise any of these files. The file icons are grey rectangles with 'exec' on them. Â

I plugged a Lexar JumpDrive into my USB hub then browsed the internet for a few minutes. Before closing my Safari browser, I noticed that my trash can was full, so I right clicked on the Trash Can to empty it. After about half way through the deleting process, I noticed that there were several thousand files that were getting erased, so I quickly aborted the emptying process.
To my dismay, the files that were getting deleted from the Trash can were those on my Lexar JumpDrive. For some strange reason, plugging in the JumpDrive loads the files into my Trash can! Now I've just accidentally erased several thousand files.
I just got a MacBook Pro for christmas. It has Snow leopard and i've updated all the software. I've connected to the internet and it works to a point. Every once in awhile it says i'm not connected but i am and its very good connection. I'm just wondering if it's the MacBook, or is it the internet. Because it doesn't do that for any of the other laptops or xbox 360. Only my MacBook and my Ps3.

Just got the new office 2011 which I use every day for university, primarily the powerpoint program for presentations and note-taking. Today I noticed that my battery drained more quickly than usually and found out that I use the nvidia 330M when powerpoint is open. Just did some research and neither word or excel makes the MBP use the 330M. Only powerpoint. Is there any way to force the intel gfx on all the time? Or at least when running on battery?
