Jun 4, 2014My iMovie window is hidden behind the dock. When I get it out with 2 fingers and click on it, it won't activate. Rather it disappears behind the dock again. I tried quitting iMovie -- but it's useless. First time this happened on my 4-year-old mac.

Jul 1, 2007I recently switched from Windows, and while I love OSX overall, I miss the ability to make a window fill the screen. I don't want to do it all the time, but want to be able to do it when I'm focusing on a single program, or want to use as much screen real estate as possible.
Are there any plugins, programs, or Automator settings that would allow me to do this?
OS X :: Full Screen Window Wtih Overlapping Dock?
Jan 10, 2011New Mac user with a couple of questions:
1. Is there any way to be able to maximize a window to fullscreen by dragging the bottom right corner, like say a browser window, but have the dock overlap it? Auto-hide on the dock is too slow. If I have the dock on auto-hide, stretch a browser to full screen, then unhide the dock.. the dock does what I want and overlaps the maximized window. However as soon as I open a new window, or minimize/maximize the browser window, or hit the zoom button, it resizes so that it does not overlap the dock. It's annoying to lose 3/4" of vertical space on the bottom just for the dock..
2. Is there a keyboard shortcut for to mute the audio? I know there's a dedicated fn button on the MBP but I have a logitech 8 button mouse and on my PC the logitech software gave me "mute" as an option for what a button could do. Unfortunately I'm unable to get the logitech software working on my Mac so I downloaded Steermouse which is great but doesn't give me volume control options for my mouse buttons unless there's some kind of keyboard shortcut that exists?
3. Is there really no keyboard shortcut for the undo command???? That seems kind of crazy. It's blank in every application I've check, yet there's a keyboard shortcut for redo.
4. Is there anyway to remap cmd-x/c/v to ctrl-x/c/v like on a pc? The command button is so close, this is definitely one function that is better on a PC.
5. Is there a way to change the default file manager from finder to something else? I downloaded Macintosh Explorer and really like it, but everytime I open a folder on my desktop it opens it in finder (which I strongly dislike).

Intel Mac :: My Safari Window Is Disappearing In Non Full Screen Mode OSX Lion
Apr 27, 2012I seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

Aug 29, 2014I have a MacBook Pro mid 2010 os x 10.7.5 8 gigs memory. When I am on a website, the dock is hidden on the bottom of the screen. Cannot get it to come up. I also cannot x out of a website, because the x is gone! I have to restart the computer to be able to get to a new screen. I have checked the settings on the dock, and I have them right.

Aug 31, 2014I have this icon behind the Application icon on the dock and I cannot figure out what it is. It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

Dec 4, 2014Since installing Yosemite (10.10.1) I cannot keep the Dock and the Banner Toolbar visible unless I move my mouse to the top or bottom of screen.
My Current settings:
>System Preferences>Dock: the 'Automatically Hide and Show the Dock' is unchecked.
Safari>View: Sdebars are all hidden; Status Bar and Favorites Bar are set to 'Show'. I am in 'Full Screen' but in the upper right corner of the screen, I have no arrows (another Support Post suggested that there should be two arrows facing each other??).

Feb 8, 2012I am using Lion 10.7 , I assigned dreamweaver to desktop1 by choose Options > This Desktop when in desktop1. Then relaunch DW and it correctly opened in desktop 1. Now if i open a file using in finder (which is itself assigned to desktop3) on a file that is default to DW then Dreamweaver moves itself to Desktop3.
I thought the point was that we could assign different applications to different spaces and they would stay that way. Are we saying that if a file is opened from finder its default application will be moved and set up of spaces does not apply ?.

Apr 16, 2012When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

Apr 28, 2008I use the F9 key to show all my open apps and one of the apps I have open is off the screen! and I can't find a way to drag it back. I used to have the laptop connected to second monitor creating duals which might explain it but once you take off the second monitor shouldn't all the apps show on the main screen??
If this has happened to anyone let me know!! I'm trying to find a way to fix it.

May 2, 2010I'm not sure if I'm phrasing this right. I work on an external monitor connected to my macbook, set to 1920 resolution. I was using Itunes stretched out to fill the whole monitor at that resolution. Upon switching to the macbook, the itunes window is now too large when I switch to the macbook display. I can't even see the bottom right handle that you normally drag to resize the window. Clicking on the + button doesn't help, as it only shrinks Itunes to the mini player. How can I get itunes back to a smaller window size?

It's an awesome plugin - basically it allows you to take a screenshot of an entire window in firefox, no matter how long it is. So far it's the only plugin I've found that let's you do it within firefox. I know there's a utility for OSX that lets you input a URL and it gives you a full page screenshot, but the problem is a lot of the time I need a screenshot from a website I'm logged into (email, college transcript, forums, etc.) so the app is somewhat useless in that regard since it doesn't work if you need to login.

May 15, 2009I would like to make my Firefox fullscreen (without the Mac Taskbar on top), but I can find a viable solution. When researching a few places, I found out that there is an bundle called "Megazoomer" and it requires Simbl.
Once I run the installer of Simbl and dragged the Megazoomer into my Library/Application Support folder. It doesn't work. It just makes a sfx noise that nothing is working.
When I press cmd + enter, it won't work. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
