Applications :: EyeTV Not Finding All Freeview Channels
May 24, 2010I want to record something on 'Quest' tonight (Freeview channel 38) but, although it's there on my TV and Humax, it's not showing on EyeTV. I've tried both a full rescan and the exhaustive scan, but still nothing. It's plugged in via a y-connector from the main wall socket (the other side going to my Humax/TV) and signal quality is 100% with signal strength being 97.5%. why it's not showing up?

Jan 3, 2010I have Elgato EyeTV Digital TV Recorder Version 2.5.3 (3313) running under OSX version 10.4.11 and using a Miglia TVMini (TVM01) USB 2.0 DVB-T Digital Video Recorder device.
Recently, (after no software changes except maybe a osx/safari/itunes update, but I can't imagine why this would cause a problem), certain channels now display "No Signal", and when I check the preferences Signal info, these channels have a strength and quality of 0%. This seemed to happen all of a sudden, and I now cannot get the channels working again (despite trying a signal booster, re-scanning all channels) while other receivers (i.e. a TV) seem to work fine from the same input.
A full listing of the channel titles (and numbers) which are displayed as having 0% strength and quality are: Yesterday (12), 4music (18), Film4 (15), Viva (21), Ideal World (22), ITV4 (24), Dave ja vu (35), Big Deal (32), Virgin+1 (35), Create & Craft (36), Rocks & Co (40), Lottery Xtra (45) Russia Today (85), smileTV2 (94), Babestation (96), Babestation2 (99).

Hardware :: EyeTV250 - Able To View All HD Channels?
Jan 1, 2010I currently have cable TV via Cox. I have an HD DVR Converter box which enables me to see high def and non high def programs. I don't have any premium movie channels. I would like to buy the EyeTV for my Macbook but am unclear on something. I have tried researching this on their forums without luck. If I connect the EyeTV250 directly to the coax cable, completely bypassing my existing converter box, will I be able to receive all of the stations I currently receive when viewing TV normally. Specifically, will I be able to view the HD channels?

Jan 10, 2009After lots and lots of reading I went for flashed Sapphire 4870 512 off eBay for my Mac Pro 1,1 running SL 10.6.2, with two Viewsonic VP2030b. The guy selling the card had sold flashed cards before and had 100% feedback, said the card worked with dual monitors and supported SL. Got the card, installed it without a problem, but could not get it to work with both monitors.
Second monitor said no signal on both DVI channels. Checked all the wires, reinstalled, rebooted, no luck. Plugged both into my 7300GT, no issues at all. At one point, I got the left monitor to boot as the extended desktop, showing the dock but not showing the HDD or icons (which should be on the right screen), but the right screen still showed no signal and was black. Used the gather windows botton in the display preferences to see if adjusting settings helped, still nothing. Detect displays button was no help either. Is this a compatibility problem on my end or a flashing problem on his? Contacted him and he said he had no issues with his MP 1,1 and two 20" Apple displays.

Aug 20, 2014Someone edited a sequence for me in Premiere. The audio was recorded 4 channel on a external recorder (four mics were used). At times, he used the wrong channel in the timeline. I believe what he did was take all the channel one audio and put it on the timeline and deleted the other 3 channels. Hence In many cases, using the wrong mic.IS there a way to swap channels in the timeline? I would almost need to do a reconnect, but swap channels at the same time. I use FCP and will convert this to a FCP sequence using 7toX.

Jun 30, 2009I ran some tests on my 2009 Quad Nehalem to try and determine what was up with the triple Vs dual memory "brouhaha".
I posted the results as a new thread because I think it will be useful information for a lot of quad owners, but it was originally going to be a reply to this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=735845
Here we go. Tesselator suggested 3 tests that could show the differences in speed between triple and dual channel bandwidth.

So I did them, 10 times each. I could have gone on, but the results were very very stable after the first 2 attempts.
Set-up: a 40Mpx, 16bit image (8000*5000). First test it was simply filled white; second test: black; and third test a black to white gradient. I added a fourth test, using a real (photo) 12Mpx RAW image from my Nikon D300.
I created (took a while!) an action with 350 repetitions of "duplicate layer" and "delete layer", followed by a red fill to let me know the action was done. The same action was used in all four tests.
The computer was restarted before each of the four tests, which may explain the irregularities on the first 1-2 attempts. Nothing else but PS4 was launched.
The results are interesting:
We can clearly see that the simple white and black fills show a speed difference of around 10%.
We can also clearly see that this difference disappears when a more complex image is used. The use of more complex images represents a much more realistical use of PS.
To make things even more realistic, I also tested RetouchActions's speed test on my own 12Mpx image. I use nearly all of the operations of that action on a daily basis, so it's a lot more representative of the work I do on PS.
Here are the results:
The results are clear: 11% increase in performance using 8GB of ram (Vs 6GB) when working on a 12Mpx image.
Added info: number of page-outs after running the 10 test series (after about 45 minutes of intense PS work):
-17K when using 6GB (1.7K page-out avg).
-10K when using 8GB (1K page-out avg).
For me the results are definitive: unless I plan on working only with full black or full white images (not even black and white!), having 8GB is better, even when working on smallish 12Mpx files. I imagine the differences would have been even greater using bigger file sizes of actual complex images.
What would now be interesting: someone with a 2009MP Octo doing the same tests at 12GB and 16GB.

Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. Jan 18, 2008I have a 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro (4GB Ram, 256 MB video card). I have OS X 10.5.1 clean install. Within the last couple weeks I have noticed that if I play 720p or 1080p video files in quicktime that the frame rate is noticeably decreased, you can see that the movement is not very smooth. This goes for WMV and Quicktime files. I have restarted the computer and repaired permissions. If I look in activity monitor, there are no processes running with substantial CPU usage. If I look at the movie inspector while the video is playing, it says that it is at the encoded FPS (i.e. if the video is at 24 it fluctuates at or above 24 for playing FPS), even though it is clearly not that high.

Aug 26, 2010The underlying issue here as well is that iDVD won't recognize this file either.
My wife works for a TV station and one of the editors at the station put a video file together with Final Cut Pro and put it on our external hard drive.
The file is just over 3 gig and won't open in Quicktime. It WILL open in VLC, but I need to get it in a format that iDVD will recognize because I created a DVD menu for this video and want to add it to my DVD project.
I have some other videos she recently brought home as well in the same .mov format but they are smaller, around 800 MB and those will not play in Quicktime either, but they are recognized by iDVD when I try to add a video the DVD project.
I'm guessing I'm missing a codec here and have tried a number of them but nothing seems to work. I was able to find a free converter that converted the file to .avi and it would then open in Quicktime, but there was a logo added to the video which makes it basically useless to us.
So my questions are-
1) Is it simply too big a file for Quicktime to play? What is the max file size it will play?
2) Is there possibly a codec I'm missing here that I haven't tried yet?
3) What else could the problem be?
