Applications :: IMovie HD - "Missing HD Quicktime Component"
Nov 14, 2006I'm trying to get iMovie HD running on a Mac here as a matter of urgency. However, I get the above error message when i try to launch it. Its really important I get it up and running today, but I don't have the Install disks for Tiger here at the moment. All I have access to is another Mac with a working install of iMovie on it.
Does anyone know if there's a hidden directory or the like that might have these components stored in it? I've copied across the Quicktime directory from Library, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

All I ever get is a QuickTime icon, controls and what I assume is a loading bar flashing back and forth like Kitt's lightbar from Knight Rider! It will never start playing anything. I'm at work and on a Windows 7 x64 workstation. I've tried Firefox v13, IE9 and Safari v5.1.7 using QuickTime 7.7.1. Here is a screen shot of what I see..

May 8, 2012I edited a screen recording video (shot with QuickTime) with iMovie. Added chapters but when EXPORT - USE QUICKTIME and set properites to HD format, once done (5 hours) chapters are not available in Quicktime. I read that when exporting to tiny video format, chapters are not available but here I' exportin to an HD format. May 21, 2012I bought & downloaded MPEG2 QT component in order to use for editing video from a DVD with home movies that had been converted from tapes. When I put on computer it was .cdr which could not be used in iMovie. I need to convert to one that will work. I also got MPEG Streamclip, both on advice from a forum discussion. where did it go on my computer? I have searched with Spotlight & it wasn't found.

Feb 2, 2012I have had this problem quite a while now:When I open an .avi file it automatically opens using QuickTime. I'd like that because it's the best player for Apple.The problem is however that I can only hear the sound, there's no image/video.I use 10.7.2. (now updating to 10.7.3), but it already did this before I had OSX Lion installed.If I search for new updates it doesn't come up with an update for QuickTime.Any other player works (although VLC's the only one I tried so far).

Jun 18, 2012I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

Jan 25, 2009I can't export a certain project to QuickTime in iMovie, but I can export it to other formats. The iMovie error message is: The movie could not be exported because an error occurred. (Error = -5000)
What's strange is that I was exporting this project to QuickTime yesterday, made some changes and tried to export again, and no luck? Yet it'll export to mv4 etc. I repaired permissions etc, and still no luck. I'm assuming it's related to permissions, but I have no idea where to start.
